There seems to be a pattern of how these things happen between the Hutus and the Tutsis. This was the third time that an attack upon a popular Hutu political figure set off mass killings of Tutsi and the second time that it led to genocide. All three times it was also when the nation was on the brink of major democratic reforms.

@luv4myboyzz This movie is a "toned" down version of something that really happened to Rwanda in 1994. A man named Paul Rasesabagina saved 1268 refugees (Tutsi and Hutu alike) in the Hotel. He said it was much, much, more violent than this movie could be. =(

Though the previous time in which a genocide happened the Tutsi actually did kill the Hutu President whereas in 1994 in appears Hutu extremists did it in order to blame it on the rebels so that they could justify killing the Tutsi instead of making peace.

There seems to be a pattern of how these things happen between the Hutus and the Tutsis. This was the third time that an attack upon a popular Hutu political figure set off mass killings of Tutsi and the second time that it led to genocide. All three times it was also when the nation was on the brink of major democratic reforms.
