FLORRIE FORDE (16 August 1875 – 18 April 1940), born Flora May Augusta Flannagan, was an Australian popular singer and entertainer. She was one of the greatest stars of the early 20th century music hall.

My father sang me this song at bedtime. He'd learnt it from his mother, who used - when she was young - to go to the Music Hall in Liverpool, and had remembered all the chorus songs. My sisters and I loved the reference to "lemon squash" and "gosh" which made it seem to us a very modern song (for the sixties...). Thanks for posting.
