@clownface009 It is no language at all. It was done on purpose. It sounds sometimes Latin, sometimes Gaelic, sometimes African, but it is entirely made up.
Woww.... Karl Jenkins, the best mixer in the World Music Bar: a bit of wonderful baroque, a bit of Hans Zimmer's African atmosphere, brilliant female vocals...... Shaken, not stirred! ..... The best medicine for tired ears :)
@clownface009 It is a made up language that Karl Jenkins made up in order to have no bias in culture. If you listen to the music, it can really fit into any culture of music on our planet. A beautiful mix and understanding of how to touch everyone on our planet....
Beautiful! It has a little of what Enya sometimes shows, but it is distinctively different. I got the album "The Journey, the Best of Adiemus", and I just can't stop listening to it. I have to wait a while for the next three CD's of Adiemus to get here, but I am certain the wait will be worth it.
and Adiemus is not a band or some choir. Adiemus is a album title by the Karl Jenkins, welsh composer. Adiemus is sang by many choirs all over the world, including the one I was performing with.
actually this is language that doesn't exist. Karl Jenkins made up this language so it could be in harmony with a music, another words singing music. Its not Swahili, its made up...
@manleni when I sang Adiemus when I was about 13 or so, I was told it was to represent the sound of instruments using your voice, forget the technical term for that if there is one but ya.
The title seems to be named after Elegy wheich is a mournful, melancholic or plaintive poem, especially a funeral song or a lament for the dead although it sonds more like horniring something rather that mourning it at least to me it does =)
for crying out loud, stop putting Adiemus and Enya together, they have absolutely nothing to do with eachother Adiemus(as a choir/band) has been working with Karl Jenkins on this project, which, if I'm correct is of 4 CD's(Adiemus I, II, III, IV), both are good indeed, Enya and Adiemus too, but they really don't work together on anything

Actually, I already do love them. :) I have been listening to Enya since I was a child, she is definitely on of my favorite singers. And Gregorian is very good too.
@PrincessNienna, lol it has been two years so I hope you have discovered by now that this is not Swahili though I won't deny that a lot of Karl Jenkins music is African inspired. Especially because he worked with Miriam Stockley. This is a language that he has created and uses throughout all of his music.
@PrincessNienna I thought Karl Jenkins avoided using actual language on these works and instead invented syllables to use the voice as an instrument, do you know something i don't? or is the similarity to swahili just a coincidence?

@333psychonaut the similarity to Swahili is purely coincidental. The chorus sounds especially so, but it isn't.

Well done, Mr. Jenkins (composer) and of course also the brilliant singers and musicians.
I think, this world could need more music of that kind.
