You can never LOGICALLY remove religion from politics because religion defines peoples morals and beliefs and 94% of this country believes in some religion. Christianity has grown up in the last 900 years? Would you like to start at the base of Christianity when the the second Vatican council sat down to decide who would be in the bible, who would be edited out, and whose books would be destroyed? Anyone using the bible to justify murder a) can't read, or didn't make it out of the old testament, and/or b) will just end up sitting in the same hell as anyone else using religion to justify murder. Yeah, but the difference is that Christianity and every other major religion has grown up in the past 900 years -- Islam is still stuck in the Dark Ages, which is why it's so attractive to primitive, degenerate cultures.
It either grows up and learns to play well with others, or it needs to be destroyed.
Like with "Emperor Worship" in Japan, a couple of nuclear strikes makes the whole religion untenable.
