Yes it is bad for the fire arm. You can over extend the firing pin in the forward position and actaully get it stuck there so that it discharges the next round you load with you close the chamber.

centrefires are okay becoz the firing pin is not in contact with anything but the bullets primer.

Rimfires firing pins are like a sort of clamp working with the rest of the mechanism.. so that is damaged when dry firing

and so are 12 guage shotguns, not to sure on a 410. you need "dum dum" rounds to dry fire a .12

A lot of comments have been posted about the target in front of cars. She is shooting a shotgun not a rifle. With a 7.5-9 size shot the maximum distance of shotguns is 300 yards. By looking at the board it wasnt definitely a standard target load which are required to be 7.5 size or smaller. The cars were well past the point of 300 yards. If it were a rifle it would be reckless, but it wasnt.
