  • Is this the strongest argument you guys can give?

  • keep your religion to yourself. Not everyone believes and abide to your religious rules. Religion is bullshit in my opinion, so stop crying about other people's lifestyle. You shouldn't be in america if you don't believe in freedom.

  • Normal is just majority. Not everyone has to abide to your "normal" rules. There are many animals that conduct in homosexual activity. Would you tell them to stop or is that part of nature? When you say jesus, sodome and gomorah, they don't apply to everyone. People outside your religion more likely don't even know who they are and what they stand for..so to even mention them to me is like telling me a fairy tale. There is no fiery hell either. It's all in your head. Keep your religion to Urself

  • You can't stop progress. It is the future. Many countries allow gay marriage and that is where the world is going. Equality for everyone. Your children will either be straight or gay. Hearing about homosexuality will not turn them gay. Either they are or not. I do hope your next kid turns out gay. I don't pray, but I will for that one..not to your jesus, but the devil.

  • Your using the wrong argument. It doesn't matter if other countries have gay marriage or if it's a part of nature. It is a personal choice. The end. You are given these rights by the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution. It's about liberty! Liberty to do what you want when you want just as long as you don't hurt others. That's the argument.

  • This is a Constitutional issue. Amendment I "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion". Do you know what this means? It means leave your religion at the door. This is about Jefferson's word's "Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness" You have absolutely no right to try to control anyone's life anymore than they have a right to control yours. You are tyrannical in your beliefs and your hiding behind your religion as an excuse to take away others liberty & freedom.

  • "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances." If you don't like our first amendment then leave. If you want to ignore the Constitution then get the hell out of our country.

  • I never said a single thing about your freedom of speech. I just have a problem with you trying to control others with your religion. And, please spare me with your religious bullshit. I'm not a Mormon. So quit bringing up religion because I don't read little golden plates out of a little hat.

  • But simply put. You are a tyrant. You want to force people to live by your rules and your religion. The reason people left Europe all those years ago was to get away from people like you. Who condemned them for being not like themselves. You think someone who follows a religion where his/her predecessors were massacred in 3 different states before escaping persecution would tolerate others that don't agree with them. History is doomed to repeat itself. Let Freedom Ring!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • I don't want to force people to do anything. Think what you want about others, but it's their lives not yours. Have your opinions, but don't force others to live the way you think they should live. Do I really need to bring up how the LDS have been killed at the beginning of their religion to drive this point home to you?

  • I second this statement. Thanks tkathryyn. This LDS guy is a damn tyrant. It's a shame we have people like this in our country.

  • Comment removed

  • When at any point did I say I was atheist? Let me answer that for you. Never. You come up with so many damn assumptions. I said I wasn't a Mormon and I don't follow your religion so don't waste your breath telling me about it. There is a difference between defending your God's word and allowing people to make their own decisions in life. I bet you think that your religion is the correct religion right? So why don't you try and ban Islam, Buddhism and others? It's just your God's word right?

  • Don't push your god on me or anyone else, I don't want your bullshit in my life, piss off, If you want to believe it go do that, but keep it off of me.

  • I'm glad to see that the majority of Americans see that life doesn't revolve around the gay lifestyle/cult, judging that 17 states that held a direct vote on gay marriage voted it down overwhelmingly. God bless the traditional family!

  • Nancy your president is against redefining marriage so the feds can recognize it.

  • remember, you judge me you judge yourself this goes too all anti gay people.

  • Someone please shoot her before they take guns away.

  • go nancy!

  • That is the first smart thing I have heard come out of her mouth. Good job Pelosi

  • nancy, you dont know wat your talking about. just like wat you said on your own churches view on abortion, you dont know what youre talking about

  • The FPPC is coming down on the Mormon Church! Hallelujah!! Let's hope they take away their tax exempt status and impose massive fines. California could use the money.

  • YES ON 8 good job americans good job get this sicc laws out here blacc power all day...

  • Nancystein thinks that we should always go towards more freedom, not less. Well, using her methods, let's give old nasty perverts from the man/boy love society (another Jewish institution from front to back) a little Pelosiesque 'Freedom' and let a nasty 70 year old man marry a 12 year old boy! How sick is that?

  • More freedom in this context also implies not stepping on others rights. Your example is just silly.

  • Your comment is even sillier. Marriage is not a right, it is a privilege.

What gays want are EXTRA privileges, mainly the choice for a human being to marry someone of the same sex.

And gay people still have the same privilege to marry someone of the opposite sex as do straight people. Regardless of your opinion on the matter, it is fair from that context.

  • Its not an extra anything, because that priviledge is granted to all, not just homosexuals. Straight people will also have the priviledge of marrying someone of the same sex!

  • I personally don't care for that extra privilege(as always YMMV).

I prefer the marriage privilege status quo as it now stands.

  • And homosexuals don't. In reality it won't affect you, but you think it will. Its a small formality from how things are now, but the religious community saw an opportunity to show their gay hating and they took it. Unfair and wrong!

  • Let me state first-- I am a secular conservative.

That said, It is not about whether it affects me personally, but rather, it is about the possible harmful effects it would have on society. I just don't agree with the repercussions that it would have on child-rearing, families, conflicts between what parents want to teach their kids and what public schools want to teach them, people's attitudes towards homosexuality, and religious freedom in the name of so-called "tolerance."

  • Fortunately we have people that do the actual science and studies to find out what the effects are, and we don't need to rely on your opinion on the matter. The answer is always the same there are no harmful effects compared to "normal" parents.

the APA website has some Q&A about it, you can even check the research yourself.

  • Well, my "opinion" is already becoming reality in Massachussetts, where a Catholic adoption agency had to go out of business because it didn't wish to compromise its beliefs, and where legals clashes between parents and the school systems about whether or not kindergarteners can be taught about same-sex relationships have already occurred.

So what does the actual research say? Well, Sarantakos 1996 suggests that the children of married hetero couples do better in school than same-sex ones.

  • The reality it seems is self fulfilling aint it? They don't want anything to do with gay or lesbian couples so they actively destroy.

The church kills its own business because of some twisted principles on the issue. Its not like gays are going around town asking the church to stop adopting children.

The general conclusion posted on APA's website is that there is no difference, or that the jury is still out.

  • As for the APA.. The APA is known to have a strictly literal bent and it once again showed that in its sexuality Q&A. Instead of remaining neutral on the issue, it took a definite stance in favor of gay marriage and homosexuality in general.

I recommend actually reading the research articles for yourself (from both viewpoints) and coming to your own conclusions, rather than basing anything off a Q&A of a blatantly liberal organization's website.

It would be like proving my view using NARTH.

  • I meant liberal, not literal.

  • The APA's only agenda is representing reality in a neutral way, what science is all about.

And I have read about this, I'm not basing my views on the Q&A section of the APA's website. Just used the website to confirm what I already knew about this area. And my views are based on biology/psychology not on subjective values.

  • The only "twisted principle" is not using the human body the way it was intended physiologically. That a minority of people wish to use their body in intended ways, is no argument for gay marriage.

Likewise, it is not like the church or anyone is forcing gays to not be gay. California recognizes domestic partnerships regardless of gender issues.

  • "unintended ways", not "intended ways"..*sigh*

  • Whan you say "the way it was intended" is putting purpose where none exists. Besides homosexuals can produce babies like heterosexuals, they just prefer the company of their own sex. Marriage is not critical to our survivability, far from it. But what it can do is give couples stability and some roots. Denying homosexuals this opportunity is diminishing their childrearing quality.

  • If california recognizes domestic partnerships which is legally just like marriage, then why not go all the way? Makes a ton of difference to the homosexual couples, but is only a minor nuasence to others.

  • Besides the reasons I gave.

There is no reason to praise the homosexual lifestyle. Homosexuality, like alcoholism or illegal drug usage, are undesirable and condemnable activities. These people should be getting help(if they want)or do their stuff behind closed-doors, not celebrating their errant physiological behavior.. Much less, married.

There is no reason to redefine marriage. The government should only recognize proper marriage between a man and a woman. This guarantees religious freedom.

  • Lol, I can't not comment.

Nobody is praising their sexlife, none of our business. Besides marriage usually = relaxed sexlife. Comparing homosexuality with alcoholism and drug abuse, is like comparing masturbation to drunk driving. There is no comparison.

Its obvious we won't see eye to eye on this, so again I bid you farewell. Need to go study.

  • I bid you farewell too and good luck with your studies. I need to do some of mine own too.

I do wish to thank you, however big our disagreements are, for keeping the conversation civil and respectful.

  • Alcoholism and illegal drug use alter your state of mind and can cause you to injure others.

Homosexuality is exactly the same as heterosexuality except for who you love.

Why exactly is homosexuality 'condemnable'- without using religion, please explain to me why I, an atheist, should think that homosexuals should not be treated equally.

  • They have no real answer to your question other than childish answers like "it's icky" or "it's unnatural".

  • I've found that within this election..

Yet for some reason, they are allowed to vote on it without reason or education.

  • even with the 'its unnatural' doesnt have a firm basis. :D animals have homosexual partners all the time, both domestic and wild

  • im also an atheist and i think your a dumbass

  • Glad to see you think that without reason or explanation.

Good think I really could care less what you think. ;D

  • The human body is not meant to tolerate the chemicals we use in everyday products. Medicines of today are foreign materials to our body in which they have only learned to tolerate, not welcome freely. Our bodies were not meant to consume trans fat, man made materials or genetically altered food, yet we still stick all that in our bodies. We are supposed to nourish our bodies with organic, natural nutrition. So it is actually the vast majority of people that use their bodies in unintended ways.

  • The fact that our human body is able to adapt and tolerate these various chemicals(as we can see most everyone is still alive), is evidence of its amazing resilience to many foreign agents.

It is not that our body is not meant to consume trans fat (or whatever), but that we should ingest this "harmful" stuff in moderation.

With homosexuality, however, all it takes is once to get HIV. The high HIV rates within homosexuals is a matter of record.

We'd be hermaphrodites if homo sex was intended.

  • The reason so many people are unhealthy is because of these chemicals. If we did not have all this shit in our products, people would be so much healthier and more people would live longer. Fewer people would have cancer or other noninfectious diseases.

And besides, the population with the highest HIV infected percentile are heterosexual females.

With protection, anybody can have ass sex without contracting STDs. Heterosexual couples are also at risk of getting HIV.

  • (Continued) It's not like the vagina is immune to whatever disease a penis may carry.

Just once with any kind of sexual intercourse, no matter what gender the sexual partner is, could get you infected. And what more, HIV can be contracted through used needles and other bodily fluids such as saliva.

Then again, if you are so against gay marriage, why the hell do you care? Are you having anal anytime soon? How the hell does same sex marriage hurt you?

  • homosexuals are more at risk because promiscuity... I had a friend that is not homosexual and was infected with the virus. We need to promote monogamy to homosexuals, but instead we said continue forget marriage. Gays Deserve Eqaul rights and equal respect.

  • Want to know something funny? They have linked population density with homosexuality- the denser an area is, ie the more crowded, the higher homosexuality rates are. They did an experiment with mice to test it and homosexual behavior increased with pop. density.

It's a form of population control. Homo sex IS intended- it's nature's peaceful way to keep the world from getting over crowded.

  • It is wishful thinking to believe that a mother or father is interchangeable. Common sense dictates that a mother offers what a father can't and vice versa. How many single-parent children wish they had the other parent as well?

  • I would say it is wishful thinking that two males or two females in one home can't be good parents, especially since the research does not show any marked differences. Man + woman in marriage is not a secret forumla for success.

  • I maintain that the negative unintended consequences to society that would result from allowing gay marriage would far outweigh any "good" that may come along with it.

In any case, adoption agencies should always look out for the best interests of any would-be adopted children. All else equal, a child is in better hands in a traditional mother/father environment than with homosexual parents. If no other reason but for the fact that a mother is no substitute for the father and vice versa.

  • Having two persons that love the child whatever their gender is what this is all about. My stance is that woman + man is no better than woman + woman or man + man in general. Children accept the reality with which they are presented, thats the beauty of them. They won't grow up angry in wishing they had parents of both sexes.

  • "Children accept the reality with which they are presented, thats the beauty of them. They won't grow up angry in wishing they had parents of both sexes."

Really? My personal experience has shown me the opposite. Many people I have known consider lucky those of us fortunate enough to have had a father (or a mother).

  • They consider us lucky = growing up angry? And did they have two adults in the home or just one? And was the grievance not more towards only having one parent than not having mom+dad?

Anyways, need to focus on my studies now. Thanks for the chat.

  • i.e. divorce. How many actual successful, happy marriages between a man and a woman have there been? Half of all married couples end up getting divorced.

  • To IancerCNCS1:

So, you mean, rather than teaching children to accept different people, you want them to not know anything about homosexuality and when they realize what it is in later years, have violent or hateful feelings towards them? It seems as if you want children to grow up and display partiality toward a certain community of people. Would you like to receive a phone call one day that your child has been arrested for assault toward a gay person?

  • I don't see the sense in your comment.

I don't think that children of that age (i.e kindergarteners, second graders) should be getting taught "sex education" of any sort. It is improper and an obvious attempt by liberal interest groups to influence child's minds at such a young age.

Not teaching sex education to children of that age is not going to create homophobes. Teaching hate is what creates homophobes.

  • Its not sex education. Even before prop 8 schools still require educators in many districts to respect gays. My lil bro goes to Buena Vista Elementary and they thought him that gays are people too and we should respect one another. They did not talk at all about sexual intercourse. As a little kid parents don't say the reason we married is to have your dads penis up my vagina so i can have a baby.. Prop 8 totally ruins the sanctity of marriage

  • I agree. People seem to think that they are going to be teaching children about sodomy.. And that's ridiculous.

It's like kids watch movies where Ariel falls in love with Aric and turns into a human to be with him. So if Ariel were to fall in love with Amy instead, what would the difference be? They aren't explaining how lesbians have sex, sex has nothing to do with it. it's teaching them that love is love and it doesn't matter who you share it with.

  • Nancy Pelosi, the satanic darling that she is, really proves by this interview that she is NOT representing the majority of Californians, who have voted for proposition 8. She's wailing against prop 8 when the majority is for it, which should be grounds to strike her from politics in California, n'est-ce pas?

  • Crypto Jew equals Nancy Pelosi, in my opinion, based on who she seems to be. Crypto Jew. Very serious, scary stuff.

  • I hate Pelosi and hope that she is voted out of politics and is stricken from the pages of history. Her and her ilk. She's a rodent who needs to be weeded out of all of our lives, her and her ilk.

  • Of course Nancy Pelosi, who is a crypto Jew, is against proposition 8. I am amazed that the masses (especially in California, which is ground zero of Jewish media brainwashing) has taken a stand against the Jew's plan to redefine a term as important as marriage to their subjects. It gives me hope that so many Californians have stood up against the Jews on this issue. Maybe, after all, there still is hope for America.

  • Fxxk Liberal Democrats. Drilling oil is in! Throw the Democrats out! Billions spent on Acorn, Freddie Mac & Fannie Mae, approving of baby killing, & other corrupt groups. Do you want Barack Obama/Joe Biden, Nancy Polosi, Harry Reid, Barney Frank, Chris Dodd, Maxine Waters, on and on? Wow, more economic disaster! What an abomination!

  • U'd Rather Have Sarah Palin? "I can see Russia from My house" How smart of you...

  • your interpretation of religion should not rule my life for it is not My religion..... my religion teaches me love, tolerance and that I am in no power to Ever pass judgment on my fellow man. my husband and myself (oh no a heterosexual couple turning on all of you! )know that discrimination it is in no way holy and pure.

  • Just because you feel an attraction to or love someone doesn't give you the right to marry! There are plenty of pedophiles that feel an attraction to children and would probably like to marry one, but that is wrong, just like homosexuality is wrong. Allowing homosexuals to marry would be condoning a behavior that is neither right nor natural. This is not similar to the civil rights movement. Obviously the majority of African Americans would agree with this because 70% voted in favor of prop 8.

  • Nancy Pelosi also agrees to the bailout plan. She's losing my vote forever.

  • Does anyone like her anyway? She's nuts. Flaming liberal!

  • Pelosi, Feinstein, and Nusam... worst leaders ever. Feinstein has never in her life stood up for anything good or decent.

  • What a suprise! Pelosi against Prop 8. Who cares. She has no clue

  • what? why not? a lot of people care.

  • Wow. Next you'll tell me that this pandering whore was for the minimum wage increase; except for her husband's pineapple field workers. There isn't a bigger cunt whose polluted my America than this douche-bag from hell.

  • Pelosi is a stuffing her bra with corporate money. (And she must be stuffing it with change because she looks like she is sagging.)

  • Pelosi is a traitor! She should be tried for treason and executed!

  • Very interesting point that they bring up the things being taught in schools. As if what people do in their adult lives must be changed in order to assist the efforts of authoritarian brainwashing of children. Christians enjoy the freedom to forcefully browbeat their kids into accepting their religion, but they should not be given the freedom to screw with consenting adults. I'm not gay, but the freedom of all Americans need to be defended from the state.

  • beautifully said :D

  • Personally, I don't feel the government should use the word marraige for any civil union. Marraige is a religious/phillisophical matter, the legal matter is civil unions.

I don't feel that gays getting married threatenes the legitamacy of my marraige in any way, nor does it threaten the legitimacy of my marraige in the eyes of God.

Regardless of right or wrong, it is not up to the government to condemn people for private matters, thus I see no reasons why Gay Marrage should be banned.

  • The government should not definitely not condemn people for private matters, and it should not dictate how religion should be practiced. If 8 doesn't pass, religious freedoms will be limited by the gov't. People of faith will be forced to allow homosexual marriage to take place in their buildings or lose their non-profit status. There are no fence-sitters on this issue.

  • tbolvskbo, you're wrong. Freedom of religion or speech is not at stake. Our governments regularly license activities that religious groups find incompatible with their beliefs. State liquor licenses don't imply a curb on the freedom of religion of members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints who are against drinking. The FDA's monitoring of pork products doesn't hamper the religious practices of Orthodox Jews or Muslims. Government remains neutral on religious preferences.

  • Poor & off point argument bradsaccount74. Consuming ham or alcohol is not forced upon people of faith but if Prop 8 had not passed, gay marriage would have been forced on religions "like it or not" due to "non-profit" laws. Can you throw a rock in a pond and stop the ripple? The people that slashed my tires, stole personal property and yelled hateful obscenities at my children as we exercised our democratic right to support Prop 8 showed us where the true bigotry, hatred, and intolerance lie.

  • Wrong. In it's May ruling, the California Supreme Court made it clear. "No religion will be required to change its religious policies or practices with regard to same-sex couples," says the court, "and no religious officiant will be required to solemnize a marriage in contravention of his or her religious beliefs." Churches often refuse to marry people on grounds of religious affiliation. And while I don't condone the behavior you describe, what you would do if your family were being attacked?

  • My family has already been attacked and we have chosen not to act as some have from the "No on 8" crowd. A lawsuit re: the use of church facilities/property for gay marriages could still occur despite the ruling you cited. It's quite evident that every conceivable means of overturning Prop 8 will be explored - every possible angle of attack will be used.

  • I'm glad you're not behaving like that. I wouldn't either. And I respectfully disagree on your second point. I'm very involved in the "other" side, as I'm very happily married in Massachusetts in a same-sex marriage. There is NO talk of doing any such thing. No one wants to get married in an unaccepting church that doesn't want them there. I'd warrant that a heterosexual couple would more likely bring a suit like that because of an interfaith marriage.

  • But what if a gay person starts saying to the church that won't marry them that it's discrimination? What if their like that church is beautiful and I want to get married in there and this church won't allow me? What will happen then?

  • Their should be they're. Sorry, typo.

  • Hi Alize - Same thing that happens when people who aren't members of a church want to get married in a church that only marries members. It happens all the time. This does absolutely nothing to change that. In fact, as I said before, the court even went so far as to reinforce that by saying, "no religious officiant will be required to solemnize a marriage in contravention of his or her religious beliefs". It's protected. That is just one of the many unfounded arguments used to scare people.

  • Sorry for the delayed response, but just saw this. It doesn't matter what ANYONE says, gay or straight. A church is under no legal obligation to marry anyone. Gay marriage does not change that. I've had friends who were mixed religion (say catholic and jewish) and they couldn't get married in the bride's catholic church. That's within that church's right to say 'no'. This is about legal, civil marriage, not religious.

  • Keep rallying against Prop 8. It is not over until every vote is counted. Go out and VOTE NO on PROP 8.

    VOTE NO on PROP 8

  • VOTE NO ON 8!

  • Thank you, Nancy! We appreciate you standing up and expressing your opinion on H8TE! Awesome!

Keep fights until the polls close!

  • nancy pelosi kicks ass.

  • awesome

  • No on 8!

Tell the Religious Right and the LDS Church to stay out of our personal lives!

  • Why does the LDS church get away with taking a political stand?? TAKE AWAY THEIR TAX EXEMPT STATUS!!!

  • The LDS church has a right to do so as do the people in their church. No less of a right than the Sierra Club or the ACLU. Are you one of the liberal kool-aid drinkers that believes separation of church and state means that churches cannot influence society? If so, you need to study some history understand the concept. You prove the intolerance against people's religious beliefs simply because they are religious in origin.

  • My great grandfather was one of the original Mormon pioneers who crossed the great plains to settle in Salt Lake City. His entire side of the family still resides there.

What the Mormons did is illegal, plain and simple. I won a school board seat this November and all of the contributions to my campaign were not tax deductible. I played by the rules; the Mormons did not.

  • What was illegal? Please do tell us in your "plain and simple" terms. Does ancestry give you legal insight that the No on 8 lawyers haven't gotten? The LDS donated $2500 - verify it yourself online. Should we villify african-americans for overwhelmingly supporting Prop 8 too? If I have African ancestry can I sling mud too? What about catholics, evangelicals, & others? The "plain and simple" truth is that you're anti-religious - The latest form of socially acceptable bigotry here in CA.

  • The LDS church donated millions. It's easy to swindle books. Am I anti-religious? If religion means discrimination, intolerance and hate then I'll be the first to say I am. I thought Christianity means love and brotherhood for your fellow man above all else. Sad to see how it has been perverted into a cult of bigots.

  • I am a member of the LDS church and I know that Nancy Pelosi is one of the most rediculous politicians in the US.

  • DelanoEvent, you have a very twisted view of Christianity. Christianity is not a religion, but a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, it is not a 'cult of bigots' religion, which you stated. The 'cult of bigots' you mention, the LDS church, at least have the decency and bravery to stand up to the 'religion' of 'do what you want' which the Jews have imposed on all of us, and are standing against it knowing the sort of backlash from the degenerate public they would face. Go, LDS church!

  • Hmmm... were your ascendents part of the Hitler movement? What's 'twisted' is the way Christians take the bible (which was a series of letters written by Jews), extract the phrases that fit their own 'twisted' neurotic needs and then impose it on the rest of humanity. If you follow the bible literally word for word (I think the jews that wrote it were probably under the influence in some sections) the charges filed would probably land you in jail.

  • It's funny that your knee jerk reaction swings immediately to Hitler when someone speaks out against the degeneration of our culture. First of all, Hitler was no more evil than Bill Clinton or George Bush. The Jews, who won WW2, have written a 'big bad wolf' fairy tale concerning Hitler and the German Nazis, which is complete bunk. Hitler was fighting against all that is wrong with the world today, actually, this same cabal which controls everything! Put that in your pipe and smoke it.

  • Hery!! We agree on something!! I do equate Hitler and George Bush!! They are both mass murderers!

  • Are you fucking on crack Hitler comparing Hilter to Clinton put 6 million people in concentration camps all through out Germany my grandfather told me that you could smell the stench of burning flesh from miles away...he didn't just murder Jews anything that wasn't blond blue or disagreed with his thinking ...what are you in the KKK?

  • you should post Cher's interview on Ellen tomorrow. I think she might be talking about PROP 8 since her daughter's gay and all.

  • awesome, thank you!
