albany pk neighborhood has the worst drivers in the city, no licences, no insurance, no legal documentation, no english. my cars been hit 4 TIMES! this didnt surprise me
I read "wicked train crash" and click on video. Then watch a stupid red truck towing a box truck expecting a train to come at any moment. But no 'crash' or 'train' come! Bad title, worse video, sorry you need to label videos better!
@robertgift > '.. DO NOT CROSS if not enough space ..'
Sounds nice, but not very realistic. For example, you're following vehicles moving along smoothly when one stops without warning (to park, turn, or whatever). Happens all the time. You're now on tracks while vehicles ahead & behind refuse to move. Your only options are ramming vehicles or be hit by train. While I might choose former, not all drivers are that aggressive.
stewartx5, why do you reveal your low IQ in your screename?
I have driven trucks and busses.
You slow and stop BEFORE the track. IT'S EASY!
Wait until enough space has opened BEYOND the track before you cross.
Then cross and are clear of the track.
I believe one smart trucker did this and as he began to cross to his open space, an idiot or two drivers passing on his left pulled into his open space. He had to stop and was on the track and hit by a train. He should have rammed them forward.
Say what? Foolish nonsense. I've driven trucks as well and stand by what I said earlier. It's also not as easy as you say to stop in flowing traffic, at least not without causing accidents. And only a few states allow trucks (or any other vehicle) to stop in traffic with complete impunity. Good day, sir.
5, you certainly can slow and stop in flowing traffic.
Perfectly possible and perfectly legal if for a reason. (I am also a driver instructor.) You are not allowed to shift gears while going over a crossing.
If some moron behind has a collision, HIS FAULT for following too closely or driving too fast for conditions.
No excuse for getting hit by a train. Appears that you need to learn the steps I posted above.
@robertgift Ive only been driving truck for two years now and i cant tell you how many times i have left a gap big enough and as i cross the tracks cars come flyin in from another lane and make me stop with my trailer over the tracks. But I know what you mean i see other truckers how are to worried about there dead line then being dead.
@idnova427 When I drove a truck, I watched to see if anyone was about to enter my clearance space. Was ready with the horn and would instantly start blasting it rapidly if someone started to move into my lane.
Just watch and be ready for it. They mean no harm. They just don't realize whathey are doing. Street departments should place thick white lane lines AFTER grade crossings.
@robertgift Thats true they don't realize. im glade to see more commercials and billboreds talking about how not to drive around bigrigs. Over in Jersey they are really starting to crack down the cutting off issues.
@robertgift Its not a FD overkill, one truck and one engine is visible, which is the basic dispatch for anything and they probably have a squad company on scene also. They cant tell exactly what has happened at the scene so they dispatch for what the call comes in for, even if it is a small crash they cant tell from quarters. Could of been possible fire, intrampent for the truck drive, or other damage for the surrounding area.
@robertgift Those box trucks, depending on their weight rating, do not require a CDL to operate. Basically, anyone who has a license to drive a car, can drive one of these things if it does not have air brakes.
@Tr2u1ck Thanks, Tr2. Yes, I drove some. Had to be aware of height when refueling.
Drivers need to remember to wait until there is space beyong the crossing to pull into before starting to cross. This also applies to regular street intersections.

Lot of stupid people in this video. Worst might be the fire people that would just let this disaster happen because they have to safe their hoses..

Now I understand! Dane Cook's girlfreind is right! There are a million firefighters there!! lol

My fire department sometimes gets too many pieces dispatched to a call which turns out to be a one-piece incident.
Here, it seems the unneeded apparatus should have cleared back to quarters.
"intrampent for the truck drive" ??

Why are some truck drivers such IDIOTS?
I know many excellent truck drivers.
Very simple: DO NOT CROSS if not enough space beyond the track.
Fire department overkill.
Poorly named video.
But thanks for the good information.
