  • this piece helped me to figure out that i'm gay..thanks prokofiev!!!

  • <3

  • is it weird to like funeral music? i couldn't find any suggestions on the internet, but i would literally listen to this all the time, and other funeral songs i've heard, if i had them on my phone... please help, i personally find them beautiful but others may think it's sick of me to like the songs as general taste. :\ so confused!!!

  • @PorkyPower100 It wouldnt be funeral music as that isnt a type of genre. It would just simply be a sonnet or something or a classical song with a sound tone to it. classical music has so many derivitives that i couldnt specificaly name wat is used in a funeral.

  • @ByouDanseiKamiEnSai okaii, thanks for your input :)))

  • @ByouDanseiKamiEnSai The Funeral March is a musical form though this wouldn't be characterized necessarily as a funeral march. It's usually a slow march in a minor key. Check out the first movement of Mahler 2 or 5. Mahler uses a lot of funeral marches. Also, beethoven's third "Eroica" 2nd Movement is titled March Funebre, also a funeral march

  • @nreitman Don't forget about Durges :p

  • @PorkyPower100 Dude, don't worry. You're lacking severe self-confidence if you have doubts about your music taste. And even so, how can someone NOT like this?

  • does anyone know what is happening at 4:36 to 4:58? I really think it is beautiful and i wanna know what that is on the piano if possible. Thanks

  • EPIC, PERFECT, BEAUTIFUL

  • And you people think Danny Elfman is a master....Prokofiev is a GOD!!

  • DIOOOOOSSSSSSSS MIIIIOOOOOOOO, QUE BELLEEEZAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    ES PROKOFIEV!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • 4:55 is the best climax that I've ever heard.

  • @Tuck213 i'm with you on that one

  • Conductor and orchestra?

  • is it me or has anyone else noticed alot of the musicians in this playlist are russian or well most of em. i new to classical, in to a bit of everything and clasical is amazing. the songs on this playlist are stillgreat but how about a bit of variety.you have ony 2 songs by beethoven. help expand my mind and add more composers music

  • How about~ We appreciate the quality and beauty of the piece without tarnishing the upload with our negative comments on the tragedy?

Anyway Prokofiev is officially my favorite composer.

  • your sequel: Still Braindead

  • Am I the only one that thinks John Williams ripped on this? I mean, I'm a huge fan of Prokofiev's works, but I've often felt this movement in particular sounds vaguely familiar to Starwars, particularly at 2:07 and 4:38.

Thank you for posting this though. My recording was destroyed years ago, and now I have impetus to buy this album again.

  • @loodwig That's the destruction of the Enterprise in Star Trek III, although I like what Horner did better in his recording, despite the plagiarism.

  • Dgetz08, you are so right. I remember the first time I heard this i was completely caught offguard and stopped what I was doing. The 5-note series that begins at 8:52 has a most wistful quality to it.

  • 6:30 begins one of the best melodies ever written...in my opinion

  • @Dgetz08 Agreed

    so hauntingly beautiful

I have always loved this piece

it transports one into another realm

  • A sad tale, like many others. The song shows the emotions very well.

  • because Juliet faked her death to her family so they would put her in a mausoleum (after which Romeo would rescue her). But when she finds Romeo dead, THEN she actually kills herself

  • this is a really good song! i don't know why there arnt as many views & comments! but in the tittle why did prokofiev but her funeral before her death!

  • @ItsEmmalicious read the play, dearie

  • @BernardProfitendieu ive read it

  • @ItsEmmalicious then read it again, dearie, and this time concentrate ... then you won't ask such stupid questions about a play you claim to have read!

  • @BernardProfitendieu really? why wont you stop with the stupid replys? i know they thinks shes dead & have a funeral for her, so it should be death & funeral not the other way around because they think shes dead thats good enough for being dead

  • @ItsEmmalicious thinking someone is dead and their actually being dead are two different things, dimwit: hence, funeral and death, in that order (she really dies at the end (after the funeral), or didn't you get that far in your Cliff's Notes yet?)

in your case any title decisions would be so much simpler: the sole word "Braindead" would do nicely!

  • @BernardProfitendieu really,again?

im not the one who reads cliff's notes love

the family never knew she was fake dead so its the same to them, you have no common sense what so ever & you should really think about stop having verbal arguments with someone who has already proved you wrong

this peice of music was uploaded for our enjoyment, not for some moron to ramble on how he must be right, i am just trying to show you your own faults but alas you dont want to listen to me, oh well
