  • It is not a .30, it is a .50 Cal.M2...look a little closer...

  • "Its guarded by 30 men"

    "What are our assets?"

"Your brains, his strength, and my steel"

"Impossible. Maybe if we had a wheelbarrow, or a holocaust cloak then I could think of something"

"No... but we do have a .50 Browning machine gun."

"Well why didnt you list that among our assets in the first place?"

"Hey Pirates, you want to F**k with me? Say hello to my little friend!"

  • 50 Cal fun time

  • CULT MOMENT...STALLONE COPIED THIS IN RAMBO SAGA

  • Reloading is for pussies

  • i wish the movie would finish. yes that is a 30 but the USCG has gone to Ma Duece since then. Sucks to be a pirate these days

  • Great scene! That's it Michael! KILL those fuckin' freaks!!

  • special effect's with LP GAS A 50. CAL WON'T FIRE THAT FAST....THE AMMO BOX IS MOVIE PROP.ONLY

  • this was a pretty shocking film when i was 10

  • BTW: It's NOT a .30 it's a .50 cal. If anyone has any doubts just pause it on the screen shot of the ammo box. It clearly states: AMM.BOX CAL .50. The US Coast Guard still uses them to this day.

  • GREAT SCENE! I loved when Michael Caine notices the .50 cal then looks down at them all in perfect position! The smirk before he rips off the cover says it all! "You're all fucking dead!" LOL!

  • Its a shame we cant do this to members of congress in reprisal for the treason they are committing against this country

  • This is exactly what that scum out of Somalia calling itself pirates deserve - kill them all and dump them for the sharks. How pathetic we let that rabble kidnap and then demand ransom. That trash deserves nothing but death.

  • @titov61

I couldn't agree more. The scum deserve to be shot down without remorse or a judicial process. It's all about being politically correct and not offending anyone, we can't kill them because that is offensive! SO WHAT????

  • LOL!!! "...we'll see him again in HELL" Bad til the very end, huh?

  • I love the trial scene in the first half and all the pirate speak.

  • Most people wouldn't fuck with Mike Tyson, or Chuck Norris. Feh. Pussies.

I wouldn't fuck with Michael Caine.

Once he has that psycho-half-smile look on his face...it's all over.

  • @fkerpants yeah be leery any time Micheal Caine smiles

  • This was the greatest 50 cal scene ever made until the newest Rambo flick in 2008. Rambo turned a 50 cal on a guy sitting in the front seat of the truck the gun was mounted on and just SPLATTERED the fucker! And that was only the beginning. Stallone then transformed a whole freakin' army (and a boat crew) into hamburger meat!! Yum Yum.

  • Good thing Michael Caine saw the last part of "The Wild Bunch". It came in handy.

Kind of a silly plot if you think about it, though.

  • That barrel would be fucked up.....remember when firing the 50cal....you do it in short controlled burst. In intervels of "DIE MOTHER FUCKER"....pause...."DIE MOTHER FUCKER" "DIE MOTHER FUCKER"....pause...."DIE MOTHER FUCKER" "DIE MOTHER FUCKER"....pause...."DIE MOTHER FUCKER" "DIE MOTHER FUCKER"....pause...."DIE MOTHER FUCKER"

  • isn't that batmans butler!?!? omg i knew he was more epic than Batman lol

  • what epic violence!!! CRACKWOOD the movie!!!!

  • Looking at a closeup (on a different video of this scene), it says "Cal 50 M2." So .50 caliber it is. Even though the rounds in the same still aren't NEARLY large enough. Ah, Hollywood.

  • Good thing for him he knew the manual for arms. Myself, I wouldn't know where the safety was.

  • Where can I download this movie? ...Ive looked for months

  • Nice!

  • Apparently the .50 was stored in the already chambered state (Caine didn't have to cock it). That's not good gun safety.

  • @antarcticamoon given the way that crew on the Coast Guard cutter got so easily overwhelmed, I don't think they were top notch in any area including gun safety.

  • When a human gets hit by a 12.7mm round, they don't fall down. They explode.

  • While shooting I'd make pauses for a terryfing and evil madman's laugh

*shooting* - mwaaaahahahaha- *shooting* haaaaaahahaha *shooting* HAHAHAHA!

    :D

  • Watching evil destroyed like that puts a big smile on my face :) Yes I know its just a movie.

  • i have`nt seen this movie in years, seen it first on "the movie channel"

  • This is actually a scene from Caine's new film "Get Somalia". (Or is it the "Somalian Job"?)

  • @tommy1138 -- that's a .50-- the vented shroud does make it look a bit like the .30, but the 1919's a much smaller weapon. It's probably two different guns-- a propane operated prop gun that looks like a modified M3 and then a real M2. (Notice at 1:44 on the profile view that the M2 barrel support is visible, but the gun at 1:18 doesn't have one.)

  • alll hed bee hearing after the fire would be like peeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep for ever

  • in real life a massacre with 50 .cal wold be way more bloody but this scene rocks!

  • Always loved Caine's face at 1:07. "I'll show them bastards! Surprise and best wishes from the US Coast Guard!"

Great Australian actor Reg Evans at 1:15 - killed in the 2009 Black Saturday bushfires in Victoria. R.I.P.

  • HONEST CROOK? Shit, you might as well use the term 'abstinent rapist'!!

  • @dmarco46 Hey that not fiar .What about Robin Hood .

  • Now THAT'S hardcore!

  • Wow. Michael Caine had hair. Brown, curly hair.

  • That's taking matters into your own hands.

  • wow he literally busted a cap in someone's ass LMAO!

  • I backed the pirates! At least their honest crooks, unlike world governments!

  • @shipsboy Never heard of a honest crook .

  • that actually makes no sense. is their such a thing as an honest crook?

  • Say hello to my 50 Cal. friend!!Whoa!!!

  • I love how he skipped the Judicial process.

  • @sleepyhollowboy27 have you seen the movie ??

he had to skip the judicial process

  • @americanhero0967 Yes, but it's been some time since I've seen it.

  • That's what I've been saying all along.

  • Why did the boy aim at Caine?

  • He was brainwashed by the pirates

  • You can see where Rambo got its inspiration from =S

  • The proper way to deal with terrorists and Somali pirates.

  • "A Flare Gun; How Exotic. I Think I Might Have That."

  • I taped this off the Movie Channel in the 80's and used to watch this scene A LOT. I would just rewind it and see the pirates get mutilated by that Browning .30 (it is a .30, not .50) over & over again. Coast Guard ships still used Browning deck guns in 1980 btw. It's a mystery as to why this is not on DVD in the US. I just bought an Australian version last week because I was tired of waiting for Paramount to get off their asses and release The Island (and The Keep).

  • Agreed, The Keep is long overdue a dvd release.

  • @tommy1138 i know i tried to make a request at the library, they checked every library in the system, none of them had it.movie rental is free at the library.

  • i hope he was in international waters

  • god that must have felt good

  • nice!!

looks like a .30 cal tho...

  • When films were good.

  • They should remake this film.

Cannibal Holacaust meets Pirates of the Car........Umm, Maybe not.

  • thanks. will check out Amazon

  • great. Is this Island on DVD Anywhere ???

  • there is a german dvd out now

  • GREAT scene! Only other movie that I have ever seen where someone fires a "belt-fed" weapon like that ((nonstop-without regard for the condition of the weapon afterwards)) is in a movie called "Castle Keep" with Burt Lancaster. He is up on the ramparts of the castle at the end of the movie and he is firing a .50 caliber (I think Caine is firing a .30 in this scene here). If you haven't seen that movie (it is an oldie) then I suggest you get it for just that very scene!

  • does anyone have the scene right before this with the coasties going to and from the island in the little boat? id appreciate the post greatly...thanks

  • Interesting thing is, Michael Caine was actually a machinegunner with the Royal Fusiliers in Korea.

  • Cheers "TEXASFORSURE"! Seen this way back on Select T.V.

  • For those of you who liked the movie, I thank you! I am actor in the movie playing the portuguese boy that gets in the head at the end of this clip--Manuel.

  • You look quite big for a 4 year old...

  • I think Mr. Caine's character may have harmed some of those men.

It's probably a safe bet that this guy didn't become a Pittsburgh Pirates fan upon his return to the States.

  • I thought of this movie when i first saw the ending of Season 1 of "Lost". The scene where Mr. Friendly and the others kidnap Walt from the boat. I wonder if the lost writers were giving homage to this movie.

  • you cant fire something like that for that long and not have it overheat.

  • That's a Browning M1919A4, .30 caliber machine gun he's shooting.

The M2, .50BMG is much larger.

But as they look pretty much the same it's a reasonable mistake. All you really have to do it look at the size of the person next to the size of the gun.

  • thats deff a 50

  • Wrong. You can clearly see the sights on the top of the receiver.

  • lol he handled the recoil like a pro ;) gotta love micheal caine

  • Always a great when about 40 pirates are slaughtered by some columnist on a machine gun.

  • This movie wasn't the greatest, but still very watchable. The book is one of the best pieces of fiction I ever stumbled across, though. It gives a much more detailed look at this pirate colony and their customs.

  • I remember seeing this movie in the theater when I was little. The book is better, but the movie for some strange reason has an appeal to it. Rather well done, with some corney acting.

I have a print of this movie on VHS. I don't believe it has ever been released on DVD. It's a shame. They should release this one on DVD.

  • Could we perhaps get this on DVD? Oh, but of course not!

  • Good! It sucked.

  • that barrel must be melting

  • There is a real Island where the descendants of pirates rule today, Spanish Wells, dont let the sun go down on you there!

Scariset movie ever, can never speep on a boat again, and there are real dangerous pirates out there

  • "A time for vida and a time for muerta, live the life, make the passage, die the death"... I love it! Pirates rule...arrgh!

  • This movie is a classic. Peter Benchley

is a mad genious. A small society of

cut throats existing on a caribbean island

    undetected for 300yrs.....simply brilliant!

  • wa ha ha owned

  • im wathing this on TV this part just happened now. owned by a journalist

  • Awesome movie! Too bad it did poorly at the

box office. The book is even better.

  • This movie was cool ,OK. sayonara my friends.

  • Yeah. Very good movie. Unfortunately the killing of pirates increases the global warming.

  • Just a brilliant, exciting ending, perhaps one of the best of the '80s. The viewer reaches the point where he NEEDS to see the pirates die - all of them, violently, finally, brutally. Total catharsis.
