The colours are supposed to represent our national flower, the wattle, which has dark green foliage and gold flower. @MrChowder469 yeah, it's strange isn't it? Any sports events the colours worn are always gold and green. The colours are supposed to represent our national flower, the wattle, which has dark green foliage and gold flower. It's a bush flower so hard to describe, no petals, but like little sponges all joined up together.
Anyway, that's why we are green and gold in sports events.
