but I didn't suck at playing DMC4 tho, I actually had fun with that game and played it all the way through with each of the harder difficulties, but DMC3 was stupidly hard, DMC2 was meh and the first one imo had shitty camera angles so it was bitch sometimes to see where I was

New Dante is as popular as Jar Jar Binks. I miss the original Dante, the original storyline, the big boobed girls, Shyboy`s OST, the gothic enviroment, the "nobody tells me what to do attitude", the 60fps. Ninja Theory is also not the right developer for a Devil May Cry. They make artsy, highly cinematic action games. DMC is a super fast skill-based action game with difficulty and a deep combat system. It's as if you're substituting sugar with salt.
This guy pretty much said the same thing I wanted to say for the last year, but a few different things. First off, It's not just ninja theory working on this game. I think capcom knew that they screwed something up after they made dmc 4. If capcom didn't like this game they wouldn't have let NT do this. Second, Capcom is WORKING WITH NT to create this game. If you don't like it don't just hate on NT. And lastly, there was nothing said about the new devil trigger. That was what shut people up.
I'm a die hard fan of devil may cry games and yeah, i'm one of those people that don't like this "change" you want. I have played all of the devil may cry games and can safely say if they make a new one. If it doesn't have monsters, hack n slash gameplay. A kick ass metal/death metal sound track and upgradable/unlockable weaponry then in my opinion its no longer a devil may cry game.
INinja Theory should have said the game was inspired by DMC's style. I'm not a fan of the new game but I wish it well. Just slapping "DMC" on a game and expect for past fans to blindly buy it is stupid (in my opinion) If they had the balls to make a "new" character then I believe Ninja Theory should go a little further and make a "new" game completely you know?

My anger is towards the fact that it is a reboot. The series was doing pretty good, some people bitched about DMC4, but that alone doesn't mean that DMC is losing fans or that Dante stopped being cool, as the guys in charge of the reboot have claimed. The reboot is completely unnecessary at this point in time and all they are going to accomplish is to divide the fans even more and mess up the story.
I am perfectly fine with the new DMC and i think its gonna be a good game.. But yes we need a "normal" DMC after the events of DMC 2.. I mean what the hell did they forget dante after entering the portal?

Nothing really wrong with the game it's just that in comparison with DMC4 the combat looks so damn dull (not as much as the visual flair of the combos as much as it seems to have very little depth compared to the previous DMCs). If the combat system was up to par and the game was 60 FPS I could honestly not give a less of a crap about Dante's looks.

I for one have nothing against new games, styles, etc. I always support new IPs and occasionally get sick of developers extending franchises. However, what I do not appreciate is when developers make a new game but use the title of an established, successful franchise to sell it. If it's going to be DMC stay true to the franchise, or just make it a new property, problem solved!
@SEJohnson09 How are they not staying true I don't get it they just changed the looks of the main character. God knows how many games I can count that do that not only that but the gameplay as well. Well here's the thing. Dante's demeanor has changed. He smokes now, and In my opinion looks like a heroin addict, and he lacks his original personality. In the other DMC's he's a lot more happy and charismatic, the Dante that was originally created is gone. I'm welcome to change I just don't want this game to make Dante a completely new persona, unless they make another series of games in which he grows in to the Dante we all new and loved. You do not usually change a face/character people love.

Also the term reboot is being thrown around loosely these days, with that I meant like a system-style reboot (systems, mechanics), not a total do-over as if nothing happened in the story. Sorry if that confused you.
@FrostTheory You know, I was mad that this game was even labeled a DMC game as a game locked at 30 FPS, a Angel/Devil trigger (like what the hell was NT thinking) and the gameplay itself, as none of it have the original feel, but now, as it's been labeled non-canon, It's all good. This will just be a horrible spinoff that doesn't count. I hope they get someone that can continue the story beyond DMC2. It can be done, with the cliffhanger ending to DMC2, and the mysteries of DMC4, mainly Nero.

But what they fail to understand, is that change is only good, when the change is desperately needed. DMC was already on good standings, so why change what's not broken? Shigeru Miyamoto wouldn't change Mario for the world, and he's been stomping Goombas for as long as I've been alive! There's no reason for the change, but, then again, this isn't canon.

I don't see why there is so much hate towards this reboot. People are making up their minds off 3 videos and jumping to conclusions because they refuse to accept change. One of the main reasons DMC fans are hating on this game is because this isn't devil may cry. Not a single thing about it is recognizable, unlike other reboots (RE4).
Now, normally this wouldn't be a bad thing if the changes were good (subject to opinion), but people are scared Capcom is setting precedent and leaving the original series behind i.e no DMC 5, but DmC 2.
I could write a ten page essay about why the game doesn't look good to fans (gameplay being #1 concern) but to each their own.

I dislike Ninja Theory. Their catalogue sucks. I do not like their bright colors. I do not like the framerates of their games. I do not like anything they have produced thus far. The only good thing with this group is their motion capture capabilities, but that is not saying much. I am not fond of Dante's new look, but that is not why I am not looking forward to the game. I can look past his appearance provided the game is good, but with their record, it will not be a good game.
i actually really agree with you on this, a lot actually! we need more companies to take risks with franchises like dmc and not settle for more of the same. besides, if it plays with the same fast combat system (with some adjustments) of the previous games, a new setting, story, and atmosphere will be really interesting.
@BatOtaku13 True only if the original director, not the company take liberties with the game. it can be done, look at how Shinji Mikami came back and remade his original RE titles and even upped the ante with RE4. Hideki Kamiya couldve raised the bar with the over the top stylish action while retaining the atmosphere and familliarity of the first. Like ive said before it seems like an opportunity missed with this franchise

I agree with people liking the same shit, games like CoD are getting just old now, I can't believe the game gets around 85-90% of first person shooter sales. The game needs to do what DICE is doing with their Battlefield series.... a new REVAMPED engine.
This is when you realize how clever Darksiders developers were when they set the universe for their series. By creating the 4 riders of the apocalypse they completely eluded the problem you mention : not only are fans not afraid of change but they're actually asking for it : they don't want to play with War for the entire series, they want to play with every riders in their own game.
I love Devil May Cry, and I'm thinking everyone's gonna just "meh" the new DMC. It looks average, nothing more and nothing less; I'm still lost on how they're gonna re-tell the story. Hell, this may be a prequel to DMC3 for all we know.

New Dante is as popular as Jar Jar Binks. I miss the original Dante, the original storyline, the big boobed girls, Shyboy`s OST, the gothic enviroment, the "nobody tells me what to do attitude", the 60fps. Ninja Theory is also not the right developer for a Devil May Cry. They make artsy, highly cinematic action games. DMC is a super fast skill-based action game with difficulty and a deep combat system. It's as if you're substituting sugar with salt.

I think capcom knew that they screwed something up after they made dmc 4. If capcom didn't like this game they wouldn't have let NT do this. Second, Capcom is WORKING WITH NT to create this game. I have played all of the devil may cry games and can safely say if they make a new one. If it doesn't have monsters, hack n slash gameplay. A kick ass metal/death metal sound track and upgradable/unlockable weaponry then in my opinion its no longer a devil may cry game.

My anger is towards the fact that it is a reboot. The series was doing pretty good, some people bitched about DMC4, but that alone doesn't mean that DMC is losing fans or that Dante stopped being cool, as the guys in charge of the reboot have claimed. The reboot is completely unnecessary at this point in time and all they are going to accomplish is to divide the fans even more and mess up the story.

Nothing really wrong with the game it's just that in comparison with DMC4 the combat looks so damn dull (not as much as the visual flair of the combos as much as it seems to have very little depth compared to the previous DMCs). If the combat system was up to par and the game was 60 FPS I could honestly not give a less of a crap about Dante's looks.

However, what I do not appreciate is when developers make a new game but use the title of an established, successful franchise to sell it. His origins are meant to differ from his alernate predecessor not to in the least bit be the same. Well here's the thing. Dante's demeanor has changed. He smokes now, and In my opinion looks like a heroin addict, and he lacks his original personality. In the other DMC's he's a lot more happy and charismatic, the Dante that was originally created is gone. I'm welcome to change I just don't want this game to make Dante a completely new persona, unless they make another series of games in which he grows in to the Dante we all new and loved. You do not usually change a face/character people love.

To add to that, just to be on the safe side, I'm neither for or against this game after they said it doesn't have anything to do with the main series. I'm just saying there's more to it than "omg everyone iz hatin on dis game cuz of Dante lulz."
Also the term reboot is being thrown around loosely these days, with that I meant like a system-style reboot (systems, mechanics), not a total do-over as if nothing happened in the story. Sorry if that confused you.

@FrostTheory You know, I was mad that this game was even labeled a DMC game as a game locked at 30 FPS, a Angel/Devil trigger (like what the hell was NT thinking) and the gameplay itself, as none of it have the original feel, but now, as it's been labeled non-canon, It's all good. This will just be a horrible spinoff that doesn't count. I hope they get someone that can continue the story beyond DMC2. It can be done, with the cliffhanger ending to DMC2, and the mysteries of DMC4, mainly Nero.

But what they fail to understand, is that change is only good, when the change is desperately needed. DMC was already on good standings, so why change what's not broken? Shigeru Miyamoto wouldn't change Mario for the world, and he's been stomping Goombas for as long as I've been alive! There's no reason for the change, but, then again, this isn't canon.

I don't see why there is so much hate towards this reboot. People are making up their minds off 3 videos and jumping to conclusions because they refuse to accept change. Always sticking to the norm gets boring after a while. I love DMC but it got stale at 4 and they had little room to make a new plot. Sure they CAN fuck it up but don't be stubborn and be open minded.

@dtanobo People are making up their minds based on available evidence: 1) Every game NT has made has sucked hard. 2) DMC's milieu does not need a re-anything. Least of all as a retelling of Tameem Assholide's teen years. 3) All the content they have put forth so far, THEIR content mind, has looked horribly slow, clunky, canned and devoid of Style.
In short, everything about this game looks ugly.

One of the main reasons DMC fans are hating on this game is because this isn't devil may cry. Not a single thing about it is recognizable, unlike other reboots (RE4).
Now, normally this wouldn't be a bad thing if the changes were good (subject to opinion), but people are scared Capcom is setting precedent and leaving the original series behind i.e no DMC 5, but DmC 2.
I could write a ten page essay about why the game doesn't look good to fans (gameplay being #1 concern) but to each their own.

I dislike Ninja Theory. Their catalogue sucks. I do not like their bright colors. I do not like the framerates of their games. I do not like anything they have produced thus far. The only good thing with this group is their motion capture capabilities, but that is not saying much. I am not fond of Dante's new look, but that is not why I am not looking forward to the game. I can look past his appearance provided the game is good, but with their record, it will not be a good game.

i actually really agree with you on this, a lot actually! we need more companies to take risks with franchises like dmc and not settle for more of the same. besides, if it plays with the same fast combat system (with some adjustments) of the previous games, a new setting, story, and atmosphere will be really interesting.

Hideki Kamiya couldve raised the bar with the over the top stylish action while retaining the atmosphere and familliarity of the first. Like ive said before it seems like an opportunity missed with this franchise

For all intents and purposes every development team should be given a chance to prove themselves with each game. the only reason im not looking forward to this title is due to my own ( and other's) dissappointment of not playing a DMC sequel made by the original director Hideki Kamiya. It seemed like a missed opportunity for capcom to ask him instead of ninja theory for a sequel/reboot of an action game that started it all

I wouldn't hate on the new DMC if they would have made him the son of Dante since Nero was son of Vergil. He's just not cool at all compared to who he is rebooted from. I'll get it for the sake of me waiting so long for DMC5 but that's it. However, I'm not going to judge it anymore until it comes out.

This is when you realize how clever Darksiders developers were when they set the universe for their series. By creating the 4 riders of the apocalypse they completely eluded the problem you mention : not only are fans not afraid of change but they're actually asking for it : they don't want to play with War for the entire series, they want to play with every riders in their own game.

I love Devil May Cry, and I'm thinking everyone's gonna just "meh" the new DMC. It looks average, nothing more and nothing less; I'm still lost on how they're gonna re-tell the story. Hell, this may be a prequel to DMC3 for all we know.
And I totally understand how everyone hates on how Dante acts in the trailer, he doesn't need to be super arrogant, but how about a snappy line or two? Not just mad face and smash, that's Kratos' job.

There's way too much complaining & moaning about Dante's appearance. Last time I checked, it doesn't make or break the game! DmC needed to change anyway for their story was stupid & Dante is straight up mediocre. What's wrong with change? Let me put it this way, if I come to your channel tomorrow and it's rebooted and now a black guy shows up and does game reviews. (not meant to be racist, just using it as an example of how much they changed in this game). It's just not the same whity show anymore. This is essentially what Ninja Theory is doing. If they made this an entirely new IP, then no one would complain, but this is DMC, we expect a certain amount of consistancy. You don't see them changing Batman in the reboot movie.
