My Cousin and I are trying to do this on his Virago 750 since loud pipes sound cool and save lives, and this is his first bike so the load pipes would make his commute to work a bit safer but we're quite confused about how to pull the baffles out once the rivets are drilled, we will be grateful of any help, thanks!
Thevideo is a little blurry on my end - If I understand correctly, you removed the end & then installed a large washer in the end, to keep the pressure the same? Or after you removed the baffle was that round piece still there in the end of the muffler?
I wish i was there to really here that. I have a 750 and it sounds like a damn four wheeler. Now that this is done, do you think you are going to get regular pipes or just leave it the way it is? I really want to do something about that yukky stock sound.
Drilled out the baffles that were in there. I then got a big galvanized threaded nut that the head fit just inside the pipe. I then JB Weld a big flat washer to this to give it a finished look. Then painted it black.
Didn't effect performance and didn't have to rejet. That was one of the things I was worried about. I think it sounds good. It's not as loud as just straight pipes but I like the sound better then it was.

BTW, your bike sounds fantastic.

@Blackinterceptor999
Sorry haven't gotten back to you. Once you drill all around and cut it the baffles just pull out real easy.

I never did have to rejet. I thought I might but no.

I installed a large washer to give it a finished look. Without it the end looked pretty rough.

Outstanding. It does look nice even though its blurry on my end. I'm going to try it myself this week. Did you EVER have to rejet it?

Used a 1/4 inch drill bit and drilled around the end, put in many holes. Then used a side cutting drill bit to remove the material between the holes.

alright man, thanx! i just might do the same instead of payin 4 bills for an exhaust.
fatony26 3 years ago
so basically you drilled many holes in the end of the exhaust?
acsclio 4 years ago
Yes, then used a side cutting drill bit to connect the holes and remove the material.

Didn't affect the performance at all. It sounds a lot better. Didn't have to re-jet the carbs or anything.

What did you do with the standard exhaust? Please let me know as I love what you did.

Just left the standard exhaust on there. Didn't get any custom ones. Just removed the baffles from the original exhaust.
