I just had to stop by and listen.. ive been singn this song for a week now while sittin in traffic downtown and had to come by and make a post on fb... U AINT TEXAS UNLESS U KNOW THIS SONG LOL
This is called... what a child in the 80's would see on Houston tv midday during the summers. Probably between reruns of the Batman live action show and the Monkees.
I remember first seeing that commercial when I moved to Texas with my family in 1990 and then some years later seeing the updated version, which wasn't as good as the original and every so often I sing that song. I was at Thunderbolt a few months ago and it looks much different in that area now...
This makes me feel so good. Both getting to view the commercial jingle and read the nice comments. You see, our Mom, Bonnie Miller wrote this jingle and also sang it too. She also put that whole commercial together too!She and our Dad Phillip were killed in a car wreck in 1996 and God how we still miss them. They were such awesome people and talk about a unique and entertaining upbringing! I sure wish I had a copy of this myself. Thanks for posting this.
I really miss Houston back in the 80's.. Back in those times I was a kid and it was one of the most magical times I have ever experience in my life.. Born and raise in Houston and till this day, Houston doesn't feel like that anymore but I try my darndest to feel good like the olden days..
Unfortunately this diddy is Permanently Burned into my Brain from all the TV watching in Houston as a Boy. Im sure this commercial comes up hundreds of times while watching old reruns in the middle of the day, the time this commercial use to play...cheap ad time and only out of work or "Truck Driver School Wannabees"
...We still believe in value, and we pass it on to you. Love it "Like" me Ineed some "Yeeeha"

yup. i too remember every word to this song. 32 yrs. old and still i sing this sometimes. its amazing how this commercial had such an effect on people. viva la houston. harrisburg and wayside. i think its still there. they need to do a sequel.
Wow!! This brings me back to sittin indian style on the floor in front of the tv singing this song..wishing my hair was blonde...I love this commerical!!!!
This song has been popping up in my head for a couple of months now.....remembering it as a kid, ,so I decided to see if it was on youtube and OMG! I am 33 years old and still remember every word to it! WOW! This is my favorite commercial! Even though I moved away from Texas when I was in high school, Houston will always be home. This commericial was AWESOME!!
I still know all the words to this jingle as well. Really this commercial is just as engrained in me as the sesame street numbers. The favorite commercial ever.

I grew up in that neighborhood and no matter what ya do to the neighborhood, it's still the GHETTO! Nothing but gang bangers and fucken wetbacks all over the place. And yes im hispanic and I hate wetbacks! That neighborhood should just be burned to the ground. Building new stores isnt gonna help when theres assholes banging their rap shit music in their cars!
You know, I actually do have it somewhere. If I'm not mistaken, the same tape since it was right around the same time! I'll have to find that tape sometime.
@Houstontvnews Oh my, or the Paul Bosch I.W. Marks commercials where he is sporting large diamond earrings, or Mr. Norman llame Mr. Norman commerials, or old school Mattress Mack (and Mattress James) commercials. I think I've been a Houston native WAY too long. hahaha
WOW, I remember this commercial as a child. I remember a lot from your videos. It reminds me of Houston and how much I miss living there. I miss Marvin Zindler too. Thanks for the video.
@Valeciaf Already!

I might've asked you this already, but how far back do your Houston commercials go? I'm looking for one from 1979-80.

It gets under your skin. And it stays there. It was an unforgettable ad.
I always found the coincidence of the Cadillac's plate having the same number as the area code. That was another unforgettable part of it.
