I'm looking at a Glock 26 for a CCW should Illinois pass the law, yes we're the only state left without concealed carry. I'll have to handle them to decide if it's worth the weight and bulk in waistband carry compared to its slightly smaller counterparts, but I like the 100% reliability of my Glock 17 and the higher round count. As always, thanks for the video.
I'm thinking about getting the 27 for a couple reasons, an you all can correct me if I'm wrong. 1) cause its a little easier to carry than my .40 sigma 2) I can get a 9mm barrel & mags and have two great Glock pistols for less than one of each. Just my 2¢ I'm not sure if you can do that with the 26. I've just seen a lot of 27's on YouTube that have done this and dealer in gun shop showed me. Great vids nutn keep them coming.
After thousands of dollars spent with a fraction of that back from selling, the only pistol i have left is my glock 17. No rust, decent price, lots of rounds. I am a glock man and those are the only pistols i'm buying from now on
I decided that a 9mm Glock will be the next addition to my collection. I sold my XD .45acp Compact because the cost of ammo was adding up with how much I shoot. I chose a glock for a # of reasons, including the mag compatibility w/ my Keltec Sub2000. I'm having a hard time choosing between a 19 or 26. I will use it as an all purpose pistol, from ccw to plinking to go-to-war(if that ever happened). I was leaning towards the 19, but wanted a Nutn opinion if I could. Thanks
@Belushi32 I was having a hard time deciding between the two. If you put a +2 base plate on the 26 the butt is about same length as a 19. usually the butt part is the toughest part to conceal, I am 5foot 5inches and 150lbs and I have no problem concealing a 19 with a shirt and jeans. Though I am eventually getting a 26, but If i had to choose between the 2 I will go for the 19.
This is a great review, and was extremely informative! I'd love to have a chance to sit down and talk guns over a beer or two!
A couple of minor things (I'm a big time believer in constructive criticism): 1) you do seem to be a little overzealous in tossing around adjectives such as "great" and "awesome" when talking about a particular feature, which tends to detract from whatever your talking about, and 2) break down the gun again to talk about modifying the trigger pull.
A script for each of your bullet points might be helpful in organizing the reviews, and could cut down on potential repetitiveness.
But, I'm just some guy on the internet...these are just suggestions (and like I said, they're minor ones)! You don't have to listen to them, you're doing a fine job as it is! Keep up the good work!
Grew up as the youngest of 3 born to a US Army First Sergeant (Weapons Instructor). Needless to say, I've been around weapons my whole life. This sub-compact is by far one of the best Handguns I've ever fired. I fell in love with it after the first mag. Easy to conceal, amazing action and accuracy. You need to watch out for slide-bite (lower your grip). But other than that, this sub-compact will make you question if you really need your full-size. IT'S THAT GOOD! Great video!!!
I am the same dimensions as you and Glock 19/26, and even the 21 fit very well.
First buy is a 19 (no CC in CA). Next will be a 26. Third Glock ...toss up between another 19, a 30 regular, and any in 10mm.
10 mm Just for occasional use. And I have family in BC, Canada. Bears are a risk. But for bears, a shotgun with Dixie Tri-Ball would be best. Maybe in a Serbu Shorty (legal in Canada).
BTW, I found the chunkiness to be an advantage for me, due to my oversized hands: I'm replacing my LCP and Makarov .380 with this gun: I have trouble drawing a thin gun....I need something to grab on to. The Mak, expecially, is a great gun: 2000 rounds thru it without a single malfunction...the Glock just fits me better.
Thanks for the great vids...not sycophantic, nor 'oppositionally defiant' like some here. Straight, thoughtful reviews are hard to come by: nutn's and hickok45s helped with my buying decision last week..am now a happy G26 Gen4 owner! No problems first time at the range (100 rounds Remington FMJs (124) and 5 PDX1 (124) JHPs). Fits my hand size and body type: 5'9", 200 pounds, big hands. I like it without the mag extensions for pocket carry (unchambered, no holster gives a quick safe draw).
*** You didn't show a Safety Check on the Ruger ;) *** - But I have a Question. The Glock 26, when the slide goes back and a round is chambered is the firing pin put into a half cocked position or is it a Double Action only with the trigger being the only think that pulls it back against the spring? One thing I don't like about my S&W M&P 9mm is when the round is in the chamber the pin is under full spring tension.
@vulpixgrant cycling the slide cocks the striker partially. pulling the trigger completes the cocking then releases the striker. The trigger alone cannot fire the gun if the slide has not been cycled (either by you manually or from firing the previous round). it's called a "pre-set trigger"
@generfeld I didn't know that, good to know thanks. I would feel safer knowing it's totally unable to fire and the spring isn't tensed totally.
I just purchased a Kel Tec P11 9mm. Reason I got this is it's the only Kel Tec and one of the only 9mm out their period that is a True Double Action Only. Slide does not even touch the hammer, and each time you pull the trigger round or no round the hammer goes back and clicks. 9 pounds trigger pull make it safe, I shoot Revolvers so no big for me.
@vulpixgrant glad to help- yes, Im nearly positive the striker doesnt have enough energy to fire a cartridge even if it did somehow "break free" from the partially cocked position. Glocks are all about consistency and simplicity...no manual safeties and a consistent trigger you cant change. No second strike capability on a cartridge though. Cycling the slide is the only way to start the cocking sequence. Good luck with your P11!
I've been carrying a G26 since I had my Concealed Carry Permit. I've put over 3,000 rounds through this gun with no issues. I have to say I think it is concealed carry perfection.
VERY INFORMATIVE. LOVE ALL THE ATTENTION TO DETAIL THAT YOU PUT INTO THIS ESPECIALLY FOR ME BEING THAT IM JUST GETTING BACK INTO THE GUN CULTURE AND NEED ALL THE GOOD INFO THAT I CAN GET.
@FloridaRaider In my own experience it's price is comparable to other pistols of it's type. There are cheaper pistols out there for sub-compact 9mm, though. But Glock is a great value. I was able to snatch one new online for about $575, after shipping and transfer. All stock. "Best" value depends on the user.
Nutnfancy you got me thinking in the right direction, as far as which guns to own. I sold all the guns I didn't use and got a g26 and 2 g19's and a ton of mags. So now I have a defensive system that is interchangeable. I also carry the new Cold Steel AK-47 knife. Could you do a S & W sigma review? Thanks for all your hard work.

I like Glocks, don't like Glock fanboyism. They're good, but what turned me off to them for a long while was an ever-flowing stream of comments all over to "Just get a Glock" whenever anyone ever asked for advice on what kind of handgun they might want. But I guess that's akin to not liking something because other people do. Does that make me a hipster?
hey dude. your videos are very nice!i am getting a glock 26 for christmas which is in aout 3 days.. thanks for the nice vids and i will probaly make a video on accuracy to compare mine to yours because i am 13 years old but ive been shootin since i was about six. thankyou
The slide on my Glock 26 is not as easy to pull back as other Glocks... I haven't tried other subcompacts, but the G17, G21, G22 are all extremely easy to pull the slide back. The slide on my G26 seems to be more resistant. Is that normal for the subcompacts? Anyone know?
@nutnfancy You changed my life with so many of your reviews..You educated me and Ive purchased many excellent items bc of your vids. What would I do without you?
Quick question nutnfancy, I noticed in the beginning of your vid you mentioned shooting reloads. Do you shoot reloads out of your 90's model 26? Just wondering because I just got a 26 for cc here in Ohio and according to the serial number it was one of the first manufactured in sept 1995 and I am a little skeptical about shooting my reloads. Whats your take?
Veri...Would you ask nutnfancy if he would do a tabletop on a Glock 19? I am a 9mm fan and it's the only one I haven't seen yet. I think it would be interesting to see what his take on the G19 is compared to the Glock 17.
excuse my language, but how the fuck are you doing 1-2 in' groups at 7 yards or 21 feet with that gun? man, i get like 3 9mm holes with that gun at that distance....
1. A lot of people who are new to guns may find it discouraging if their guns are difficult to clean
2. Having to rely on a specific tool for disassembly means having to keep that tool "close at hand" which from the military to the private citizen can simply be an extra nuisance to being an extra tool to keep up with
3. Cleaning, inspecting, or fixing "in the field" or at the range may be done with ease when needed
4. Many small parts have a greater chance of being lost
I was very impressed with the groupings out of such a very short barrel. I wen to a gun show and passed over the Glock 26 and was looking for the Glock 19 as it had the longer barrel. Dealer had sold the only one he had earlier that day. From your groupings, I am now reconsidering the Glock 26.
COnsidering how most leo's go with the 40 these days, If you had a choice between 26 or 27 which would you suggest. I appreciate your video's and watch and rewatch to learn as I sew leather holsters, thanks.
HOw about doing a YAVUZ 16 compact (sub) review. You do excellent review. Keep it up! I'm thinking about buying one. Your review will surely help me decide.
@xxxxxxxx183 It's when on recoil your wrist flips up and to the left or right or straight up. On a revolver it doesn't matter but auto pistols it's not wise especially a Desert Eagle (I own one) cuz you'll have a spent casing in your face.
I took the plunge and bought a 26 without shooting it first. I took mine apart, expecting to find grease all over. I couldnt find anything to clean so I went as is. Shot some impressive groups, no malfunctions. It is small, super reliable (250 rnds so far, no probs) and way more accurate than it needs to be for a defensive pistol. The hanging pinky thing took about a minute to get used to. Trigger has improved since the 80s, but it still takes getting used to. It is now my alternate carry.
@shadeshiest22 It was a taurus PT-145. Due to reliability problems it will take a backseat until it proves itself to me again. It did well the other day, but now I have to send one of the mags back again. I am also looking at the kel-tec pf9 or p-11, but I might go with another glock like the 30. Its a little bigger than the 26 or the PT-145, but it seems to be reliable. You shopping?
I also like the fact that I can carry my Glock 17 mag(s) for backup. I don't know of any other handgun of the same size and weight and can offer this kind of firepower. They're very accurate too. I've seen guys hit targets at 100 yards with the Glock 26. It's seriously just as accurate as the Glock 17. All you lose over the 17 is a little bit of velocity, but it still packs a serious punch. Brassfetcher's old website shows a 124gr GDHP fired from a 26 into gel, it's serious! Check that site out.
My Glock 26 jams almost every time I use the 31 round Glock mag. The shop owner who sold it to me told me that was "normal" with the high capacity magazines. It has never jammed with the 10 rounders, but to suggest bringing a g26 into combat with a high cap mag is ridiculous.
@outkasst88 isit a glock factory 31 rounder or one of those korean made chepos? i have 2 31 rounders and dont shopot them often but i have never had a jam with prob atleast 15-200 rounds through each
nutnfancy does the best reviews on the net. I have seen many of his reviews to date and instead of rubber stamping a gun, like most gun reviewers, we get the real deal. Finally, a reviewer I can respect and trust. Thanks for providing so many good videos with such good information. I'm looking for a conceal carry gun and am looking at the Glock 26 and a Kahr CW9. Any feedback?
Great pistol, the 26 is awsome cuz i can keep it small with the 10 rnd mags and carry a spare, or i can carry an extra 15, 17 or even one of my 33 rnd mags. the 26 with a 33 round mag is a ton of power in a small package. As for reliability, mine has several thousand rounds with out one failure. Excellent concealed carry or backup gun.
another great review, and because of the reviews i have seen so far, i am going to get a glock subcompact instead of a subcompact from another company
ProLoad was a very accurate ammo. Not reloads by any means. Based out of Post Falls, ID produced the best 9, 40 &45 ever. He went to great pains to have the FMJs mimic the performance of the JHPs. To bad the old guy couldn't find someone to carry on with the tradition.
Hey. I know Glock 17's are legal in Australia, but what about the 26? I don't really know about our rules for sub-compacts. If anyone here can point me in the right direction that'd be great. Thanks.
@XxXTommo69 According to Prof. Google, pistols in Australia must have a barrel of at least 120 mm. The barrel of the Glock 17 is 114 mm. It's legal only with a special aftermarket barrel that sticks out farther. If you put a 120 mm (4.72 in) barrel on a Glock 26 it would look pretty silly and probably wouldn't cycle properly anyway.
Since you can't carry (legally) in Australia, there's no point to owning a sub-compact gun anyway.
I'm looking to replace my Keltec PF9 with the Glock 26. I'm just more familiar and comfortable with the Glock platform, and they fit my hands better. Awesome review!
Awesome review. Now I have to decide between the Glock 26 or KAHR PM9. I already have a Glock 17 but I want a totally conceal carry and comfortable so I will carry more often.
Also saw you Glock mods video where you recommended using a replacement Wolf mag spring to solve feeding issues with plus one and two extensions. Love your videos and gun reviews. Keep up the good work!!!
I have a Glock 27 that i carry concealed in an Aker Businessman holster and i must say i LOVE this gun. I do have one of the grip extensions on mine that also adds one round in 40S&W which I love as well. the only problem i have with it is the last round fails to feed with the Speer Gold Dots i usually carry, I solved this by using a Winchester hollow point as the bottom round which has a smaller hollow point and is more rounded and feeds better.
this thing is incredible and versatile. Use the factory mag and you can fit it in a pocket. Attach a G19/17 mag and you've got a full size glock for the bedside =]
Just saw part 1 and am watching part 2 now. Great review. Thanks for doing this and posting it. Glocks are the easiest guns to shoot well that I've ever tried.
@wag8912...some don't advocate 9mm FMJ as a defensive round because of penetration/effectiveness in comparison to larger rounds and HP. Sport/rec shooting doesn't really matter.
they are not bad they are deadly accurate and so are hollow points , but the 9mm fmj displacement of energy when it hits a target is not enough to slow the round down , expand and cause damage it will pass through...its all about ammo and what you carry with what u carry
Great info. The glock 30 was good as well. I am going to search to see if you have a video describing more about which round to pick for different situations.
I've seen video of someone hitting a 12" steel target at 220yds with a stock G26. Super accurate gun, even with the short barrel. I'm not that good, but I can hit consistently at 100yds all day long with mine. Awesome guns!!
I think im getting a Glock 26 or 27 for conceal carry and i hope it wont be hard to carry concealed and get not carried because of it and would get a Khar PMseries but they are way to expensive. Im not spending twice the money to get a gun just because its slimer when the glock is a better gun.
Just purchased the 26 today. Your video, Part I/II were awesome and has help in the correct selection of the concealed carry subcompact that I was looking for. Thanks for all your hard work in bringing this great information to us.
Great Review!!! Glock owes a sale to you!! Going in the morning to buy one, with a crimson trace laser guard to carry in a Galco ankle rig for my back up weapon. Awesome review!!
I carry the G26 in a Miami Lite shoulder holster. Way more comfortable than IWB for such a wide pistol and a super fast draw with the horizontal draw system. I do shoot slightly better with the G17, but for carry the G26 works.
Just for the record I have a Glock 34 9mm that does stove pipe ,and some times even try's to double feed.Even a few times it would not even eject......But the problem was not Glock related. It was ammo related with all these problems, The ammo was from Alabama ammo all reloads that had some age on them, and was woefully under powered . With other loads no problems, Be they wall mart fodder ect. . Like nutnfancy said the Glock's are proven to work. Another great job on this one,Thanks.
I have been looking at your videos on various guns for a few days now. I have looked at others also. I do appreciate what you do. I am in the market now for a CCW and am torn between the Glock 27 or the Kahr PM40. Love the slimness of the Kahr, but the versatility and track record of the Glock is great. I will look at more. Thanks.
I have been heming and hawing about what to get for a CCW gun, after shooting one I found I love it as much as my G17, So getting one (with internal laser)
Nutnfancy you got me thinking in the right direction, as far as which guns to own. I sold all the guns I didn't use and got a g26 and 2 g19's and a ton of mags. So now I have a defensive system that is interchangeable. I also carry the new Cold Steel AK-47 knife. Thanks for all your advice.

The slide on my Glock 26 is not as easy to pull back as other Glocks... I haven't tried other subcompacts, but the G17, G21, G22 are all extremely easy to pull the slide back. The slide on my G26 seems to be more resistant. Is that normal for the subcompacts? Anyone know?

Thanx!

great review but why does it matter if it is easy to field strip?
OregonBackpacker 1 year ago
@OregonBackpacker quick cleaning if need be.
Countavery 1 year ago
@OregonBackpacker

From your groupings, I am now reconsidering the Glock 26.

what exactly is limp wristing a gun?
xxxxxxxx183 1 year ago
@xxxxxxxx183 It's when on recoil your wrist flips up and to the left or right or straight up. On a revolver it doesn't matter but auto pistols it's not wise especially a Desert Eagle (I own one) cuz you'll have a spent casing in your face.
paintballsniper777 1 year ago
I took the plunge and bought a 26 without shooting it first. I took mine apart, expecting to find grease all over. I couldnt find anything to clean so I went as is. Shot some impressive groups, no malfunctions. It is small, super reliable (250 rnds so far, no probs) and way more accurate than it needs to be for a defensive pistol. The hanging pinky thing took about a minute to get used to. Trigger has improved since the 80s, but it still takes getting used to. It is now my alternate carry.

@rb2112002 whats your other carry or main gun????
shadeshiest22 1 year ago

It has never jammed with the 10 rounders, but to suggest bringing a g26 into combat with a high cap mag is ridiculous.

hey nutnfancy what type of ammo do you use in the glock 26?
ChaosYugiTube 1 year ago
nutnfancy does the best reviews on the net. Any feedback?

pensword5 1 year ago 2
Great pistol, the 26 is awsome cuz i can keep it small with the 10 rnd mags and carry a spare, or i can carry an extra 15, 17 or even one of my 33 rnd mags. the 26 with a 33 round mag is a ton of power in a small package. As for reliability, mine has several thousand rounds with out one failure. Excellent concealed carry or backup gun.

Thanks.
XxXTommo69 2 years ago
@XxXTommo69 According to Prof. Google, pistols in Australia must have a barrel of at least 120 mm. The barrel of the Glock 17 is 114 mm. It's legal only with a special aftermarket barrel that sticks out farther. If you put a 120 mm (4.72 in) barrel on a Glock 26 it would look pretty silly and probably wouldn't cycle properly anyway.
Since you can't carry (legally) in Australia, there's no point to owning a sub-compact gun anyway.

pauljr1283 2 years ago
I have a Glock 27 that i carry concealed in an Aker Businessman holster and i must say i LOVE this gun. I do have one of the grip extensions on mine that also adds one round in 40S&W which I love as well. the only problem i have with it is the last round fails to feed with the Speer Gold Dots i usually carry, I solved this by using a Winchester hollow point as the bottom round which has a smaller hollow point and is more rounded and feeds better.
pauljr1283 2 years ago
Great video, you the man.
As for the "pinky finger", I train using the "point & shoot" method. Therefore the "pinky finger" is secured to the grip.
Placing my index finger against the finger rest as the gun is drawn and brought up.
Then point the index finger at the target and pull the trigger with the middle finger.
As you have stated many times, in close quarter combat the range is 2-7 yards. Therefore the P&S works great.

It says FMJ, full metal jacket rounds.. I heard FMJ rounds are bad for 9mm for some reason.. enlighten me?? :S
wag8912 2 years ago
@wag8912...some don't advocate 9mm FMJ as a defensive round because of penetration/effectiveness in comparison to larger rounds and HP. Sport/rec shooting doesn't really matter.
KhymeraB 2 years ago
they are not bad they are deadly accurate and so are hollow points , but the 9mm fmj displacement of energy when it hits a target is not enough to slow the round down , expand and cause damage it will pass through...its all about ammo and what you carry with what u carry

I think im getting a Glock 26 or 27 for conceal carry and i hope it wont be hard to carry concealed and get not carried because of it and would get a Khar PMseries but they are way to expensive. Im not spending twice the money to get a gun just because its slimer when the glock is a better gun.
