Honestly, I would have never heard of this song, or various other songs if it wasn't for Glee. As I usually find the original version better after I listen to both, Glee helps bring the generation to be more appreciated rather than the crap that is on the radio today. Also each Artist had to agree to let Glee use their songs, so Journey clearly didn't think Glee was for fags. ;)

You know Steve Perry's voice is a rare gem. There is one word that best describes his voice: soul. Usually that word is reserved for R&B music but he has a way of bringing a song to life. I find that the studio versions of Journey's songs are either as good or better than their live versions. The bottom line is: He does not get enough credit for his vocal delivery and power.

No one's forcing you to watch Glee or listen to their versions. But Glee does introduce a lot of classic songs and artists to a lot of people who have never heard it before, and I don't understand why fans of the original seem to get personally offended by young people discovering good music.

Not all of them will go on to listen to the original version and not all who do will like the original version -- but many of them do and will. Everybody honestly needs to stop bashing Glee. Personally, it's one of my favorite shows, and I think they do a great job with their covers.

@lilkenobi ok you got a point there, but my friend Reese and i love older music and on glee she heard Hello Goodbye by The Beatles, me and Reese's favorite band is The Beatles, but she had no idea until i told her that Hello Goodbye was by The Beatles, now i'm her "music tutor", but she still watches glee. Also i how long did it take you to type all that?! and i understood only about half of it!!!!

@lilkenobi Because they often rape that music with vibrattoless autotunage, and those are the versions young people will be familiar with and prefer. Like white people in the 50s recording "clean" versions of classic soul songs. It's not apocalyptic, it's just annoying.

@lilkenobi Thats exactly what happened to me. I heard Finn (the character from glee) sing it on the show and I fell in love. After hearing it for the first time I looked it up on youtube and Ive probably replayed this video about 1000000x! :D

@lilkenobi Maybe, just guessing here, It loses it meaning in a way. You gotta remember alot of these kids never lived without things like the internet, or even buying physical copies of albums.
You know you are old when you remember record stores and excited for the weekend keg parties for a chance to hang out, out side of school and be your true self, maybe even get laid!

@lilkenobi Yeah I understand where your going with that, but the thing is not that they sing it and tell people about it it's any change, it's the fact that somepeople just watch glee and don't give a crap about who actually did the real song. But to me it's especially if they change anything. Like when they did singing in the rain they totally changed and killed it. I am afraid they will do that to other amazing artists.

Everybody honestly needs to stop bashing Glee. Personally, it's one of my favorite shows, and I think they do a great job with their covers.
Although I understand that for some songs, it is extremely hard to beat the original, Glee isn't trying to compete with the original versions... They are making their own unique interpretations of songs and also introducing music to young people who might not have heard it otherwise.

Glee isn't that bad , sure the original songs are ALWAYS gonna be better . BUT how they combined this song with anyway you want it was a good combination .
