In the states they save money on plowing and wait for the snow to melt.

I ride a 20-yr old CRMO roadie. The salt is terrible for my frame. I also had to switch to touring tires to get some grip on the snow. Maybe I should have bought a good old Dutch bike instead of bring my old roadie from the States. Now the snow is gone, it's back to rain and mud.
