@allen9654.  No you don't need a stick. You can do them all on pad. Anyone who tells you different is just throwing salt. Wolfkrone uses viper and pulls off ridiculous combos on pad. Much harder than ryus noob friendly combos.

@russcramer80 "Much harder" in Street Fighter, when speaking about combos, doesn't mean anything. The "hard" combos are those that require 1 frame links. Those are hard combos. You won't execute them unless you're very good with plinking. And guess, even Ryu has 1 frame combos. So the question is: is Ryu noob friendly? I won't say that, mastering spacing / zoning with Ryu is really hard.

i have sfiv. i had it before i even had mk 9 and i never really knew about combo's lol. Then i played mk9 and their were combos that werent impossible to do so i guess i liked it. And their were characters with a non boring or stupid storyline. The creators of sfiv made the story lines of the characters soo boring and short. But i love sfiv too i just gotta get good.

@MdotWretch Yes, you can, but your opponent has to be standing. In other works, it works if your opponent is standing and not blocking, or if you stuffed his attack with the overhead. It may be a slim chance that that were to happen in an actual match, but the combo video is showing you that it's possible.

You're making it seem as if there's no other way of perceiving a certain character. What makes scubs scrubs is their skill and knowledge, not their character.

all of these combos are rarely used in gameplay.. u could do anything u want in a training room.. to hit people that actually know how to block, is a TOTALLY different story.. i would say 90% of these combos are useless.. if u didnt know by now, the longer the combo, the less damage it does.. ryu's ultra on its own does more damage than doing it after a super.. its just a waste of a ultra imo.. the beginning of all of these combos are what u will usually see.. no one does these.. watch replays..

Although I understand your point of view I believe you're mistaken in saying that 90% of these combos are useless. Combo videos showcase what is possible with a particular character in a game. BnB combos from J. MP, Ultra from EX FB, Super to Ultra, etc. are things that can make or break a match at its climax. Knowing what is possible is a key to understanding the character and making the most of his or her moves. Basically, it's a knowledge-base from which practical combos are derived.

btw, ryu is my main character, and i win matches using nothing but blocking and countering techniques, such as focusing.. u dont need these combos.. if u are patient and quick to counter, u could beat anyone with simple combos.. i see TONS of G1 ryu's, and i see the same damn thing im doing.. these combos here, although very flashy, have no purpose in fights.. whoever throws an ultra right after a super is just retarded.. ive never seen anyone even attempt it.. cuz maybe theyre smart, i dunno..

I so agree with you. EX fireball to Ultra, EX Hurricane Kick to Ultra in the corner, Jumping Medium Punch to Ultra or Super...Overhead Punch to Super, Hurricane Kick to Super.......all those combos have very practical uses, because you will hit your opponent with an overhead/hurricane kick etc sooner or later. Why not tag the super/ultra on to it if you can get more damage...it lets your opponent know that any little mistake they make is going to get punished big

It's not useless, wiseguy989. These are chained linked combos. In linked combos you get hit by the next move before you recover from the previous one. Therefore, these combos are totally unblockable. The thing is, linked combos are extremely hard to do and most people can't do them. Therefore, in a real match, a lot of linked combos are not fully linked because of improper timing, which is why they get blocked. But if someone CAN link them properly, it's unblockable.

yep ur right, one thing you need to keep in mind about links is you can't mash it out, a good link for ryu is his CR.LP, CR.LP Link into CR.HP that's a link and you have to time it so that when ryu finishes his CR.LP you start inputting the CR.HP.

@Ramonmedina15: I encountered that problem as well when I started playing Street Fighter 4. The best way to remedy it, on an arcade stick, is to perform either two shoryuken motions or two full half-circles forward. Those are the methods I used for the combos in this video at least.
