Will never forget the day he died, on my birthday. I went to school in Mandeville, manchester and that was a sad day for everyone. As a young teenager girl growing up in jamaica, i fell in love with his music. To this day I have to listen to his chanting. Great Aritist like his never die. Wow Nicky....funny I found your post I say him before he died in Ocho Rios. I feel the same way you did I has been real hard to listen his music or see his picture after his death. He use to buy us food and tell us great stories. The guys at the studio once said that all the youths come for the food. Deep down I know they know it was for his teaching, he made you feel like every thing is possible. I have never seen a man other than Jesus with more love for humanity. Forever in my heart.

The day Garnett died I cried. I have yet to hear another reggae artist sing with such compassion and conviction as Mr Silk. I told the future wife if we ever had a son I would name him Garnett Silk. She thought I was joking. We had to compromise though. I named him Garnet minus the Silk. lol..

For real. I remember the day when I heard he died. It was so weired. I was listening to a radio station that was playing reggae and they for some reason had this tribute on Garnet Silk. I remember saying to myself "Why are they talking like the guy died or something?" Then later on one of the announcers said that he had died tragically in a house fire. I remember being silent for the rest of the day.
