Oh, I wanted Venus to win this match soooooo bad. She just could not keep up with litle sis. It was still amazing to watch. Not to mention my nerves were shot. So gald these two are healthy now getting back out on the court for Wimbledon 2011. I have missed them so much and just don't know what the tennis world will do when they do retire. Hate to see that day.
Amazing rally, but it's ridiculous how severely they idolize these two. I get that they had a huge impact on the game but saying something like "nobody else could have gotten these shots, except maybe Venus." So stupid.
@Top10TennisNetwork well said....actually, only serena's run and her defensive play at those volleys and the smash added this rally as something amazing..but like you said, there have been much more better and awesome shots and it's funny that they say no one else could do. haha
@Top10TennisNetwork I think Tracy Austin meant no one else in the women's game...and she's right. Kim Clijsters wasn't back yet, so yeah, no else could have gotten those shots. And judging by how much ESPN and Tennis Channel commentators have torn both sisters down over the years, I don't they "idolize" them very much.
@Ceedsmith Oh maybe we've been watching different broadcasts. I personally have NEVER once heard a commentator do anything other than glorify these two. It's Wozniacki that gets torn apart by everyone.
@Top10TennisNetwork I guess so. Commentators, especially at ESPN, have always lifted other players above the Williams sisters. And that dates back to the late 90s, well before Wozniacki. They've complained about how the sisters never played good matches against one another, how their commitment wavers, their bad attitudes, their physiques, and more. In 2005, Mary Carillo said "I believe Sharapova is a better player than Serena" when Serena had 6 majors and Maria had 1.

What you hear about the Williams sisters now is support, because they're playing well. When the sisters are down, they knock them down further. When they're up, the boast about how they knew all along that they were the best. Wozniacki, just like Jankovic and Safina, is getting flack for not having a major to her name. So what. Doesn't mean they don't like her.

They are titans and they will rule in 2011. Maybe not in Sydney or in Paris....
Hopefully they do ...but with all the injuries...
I hope they get to the finals in London once again.
Otherwise...just be moviestars ;-)
