I recently purchased an Acer Aspire One, very nice and clean little Notebook, even though I have large hands, I find the Aspire One especially easy to use.

To install new software you eather use a cd/dvd emulator (eg loads an iso file as a cd you just rip it to a usb stick with your main pc) OR you can load the iso file to the HDD and do the same. OOORRR you can hook a usb cd/dvd drive to it and go that rout.

ME . i just load the ISO file or use a shard DVD drive off the home network. :)

It's an awfull product, it feels like it is going to fall apart in your hands.

HP 2133 or 2140 are my 2 favourite notebooks atm, nothing comes near the build quality.

This was not even a review, any pillock can pick up laptop and show you the ports. What about performance, battery life, screen brightness, resolution, disc space, warranty, cons, pros.

DVD drive... because its so small and compact, there's no room for it. You use an external DVD drive hooked up by USB. I load CD/DVD software on it by this method. It is handy if you travel with it since its small and doesn't weigh much. The SD at the side I found will read a 32GB camera card which a lot of camera SD card readers don't do.

I originally bought the Linux Acer One. However the bundled Chinese Linpus Linux Lite it came with was very broken, and extremely buggy.

Mine now duel boots Windows XP and Fedora 10 Linux, much happier with it now.

just FYI. The SD port she showed is a HDD expansion slot. it formats the SD card and makes it an extension of the HDD. the sd reader is on the other side.
