lol. I'm happy to be watching this movie again! I was thinking about it the other day and couldn't remember the full name other than it started with "Black" something..
I was born in 1957, but I don't remember how old I was when I first saw this movie; I do remember how that old lady's face scared the hell out of me! lol
I am watching it again,.now, for the first time since. I wonder if it will have the same effect. Thanks for sharing! :)
One very interesting thing about this movie is that scary face of the old dead is not a makeup, but a mask made by Mario Bava and his father, and is so perfect that it is not clear.
I have to say after seeing this 35 years later,I pictured the old woman much creepier.
though it's still good.what's realling chilling is the high pitch sounds being made as she's about to open the door.and her reaction is priceless! HAIL CLASSIC HORROR!!
I actually like it like this. It looks unique. Crawling maggots would have been unrealistic (she had only been dead a few hours) and also it would have distracted us from the horror on her face from her death.
@lobbotekka2019 I was exagerating of course.but like I said, that's just me.there would be no distraction.just more shocking and horrible even today.and then again all it would have taken was that fly to land on her face and lay eggs and you have maggot mania.but I am thinking ahead of the times so let's just keep it as is.I'm still satisfied.
I don't quite understand what the fly represented.

It's no wonder Qzzy named his band (and first song and album) after this movie. VERY gothic!

Of the hundreds of horror movies I've seen in my 28 years, this has to be one of the creepiest!

@lobbotekka2019 this is true.but a more decaying face with the addition of crawling maggots would have made it much more horrific.but that's just me.

as a matter of fact, it brings bad luck to pull a ring from someone's finger. the possesor must himself pull the ring off.

@mrlewis1963 This movie gave me the creeps when I was a kid. Saw it on "Scream In", WXIX tv, Cincinnatti Ohio back in the early 70s .
