Mo Farah is my absolute idol. I'm 20 now and I've been running seriously for just over a year, I'm too late for London 2012 but Rio 2016 I'm not going to stop till I have that Olympic medal round my neck.
he just went 'boom' after 9800m... that takes relentless training and a positive mind set so whether he's british or not he is a brilliant brilliant athlete.
@llandudnoboy In fairness this was a road race, and the road records are significantly slower than track records. That and I think with Mo's recent performances on the track he is not just a medal contender, but a medal favorite.
Mo will not win a medal because he is not even in the top five current best 10k runners in the world.
His European best of 27minutes 44seconds is certainly pretty impressive but when you consider the Olympic title will go to a run able to break 26-30 which rules him out.
Unlike Beijing or Athens conditions in London may produce a world record time,
Can you see Mo beating the world record holder to take gold.
@llandudnoboy27:44? Farah has the European record, but its 26:46 (2011 Prefontaine Meet 10K). Addtionally he has been destroying world class fields at both 5K and 10K containing the likes of merga, kipchoge, lagat, and tadese.
Farah has also showed incredible closing ability, closing several times in 1:53 in route to a 12:53 5K; no one besides Bekele had demonstrated this kind of closing ability before.
The big question is KB and how good will he be. If he is near 03-04 form, he will win.
@LMaster1 But even if he doesn't win, there is no reason to think he won't have as good a chance as anybody to medal.
I think the real question is did he peak to early. If not, his 12:53/26:46 shape could easily be 12:46/26:30 shape by the time we get to Daegu in which case he will almost assuredly medal and be a threat to win if KB isn't back in strong form.
That said, I don't think Farah can beat an in form K.B.
what an inspiration this man is. A truly great runner. Hopefully i'll get a glimpse of him this year....if hes running. I know paula radcliffe is running. If my training goes well maybe i'll keep up with her.

Finally! the tape broke! so many other competitions have tape that just gets let go by one person.

@tripleMmagic I always try to break it when I win races where they actually have tape. Most races that I win don't have tape though :/

With respect 27.44 is a great time but in next years London Olympics he will not win a medal with a time like that.
All the big names will be there and with Uk temperatures being ideal unlike Beijing or Athens there are going to be some very fast 10k times.
I recon you will have to run under 27min to win a medal and who knows a World Record may fall.
Ive run a Pb of 36-11 so i can run but European records are hardly World class times.
