I watched this film in 1977. I admired Robert Shaw, and he'll always remain one of the greatest film actors of all times. Marthe Keller wasn't too good as a terrorist, and Bruce Dern has never been one of my favourites. John Williams is a superb score composer, but as far as airship scenes are concerned, John Barry has won.
Good movie plus a great performance by Bruce Dern. I wish the special effects at the end had been better, but I guess they had to deal with what they had in 1977.
The blimp in these scenes says "Goodyear". The blimp later on at the stadium says "Super Bowl".
The woman terrorist shoots the driver and the car (4:53). The drivers falls dead outside the car and one of the car tires is blown out. Later on (5:25), Robert Shaw pulls the dead driver from the driver's seat and gets ready to drive a car that does not have a flat tire.
@RickSeraf The side of the blimp only says "Super Bowl" in the book covers and movie posters, because Goodyear didn't want their name being used in the advertising. In the film, it's the regular Goodyear logo on the blimp.
If you watch closely, the driver never exits the car before being shot.
The flat tire continuity always bothered me, too... but even if the tire was flat, they were only driving the car about 200 yards to the helicopter landing site (I don't know why they just didn't run).
@ItsSeanTheProducer The main reason for the continuity errors in these scenes is that they built (in Miami) a mock-up of the gondola for close shots, and used the real blimp (in California) for long shots. This explains the change in background (see the chain link fence at 0:35). It also explains the changes in the blimp ground crew (white shirtsleeves at 0:00, jackets otherwise). You can also see the limits of the mock-up as the blimp only extends 30 feet from the gondola (1:21).
@RickSeraf Actually, all of the exterior shots of the blimp that you see in this scene are the real blimp (being held down by its static lines) in Miami. The mock-up was only used inside the Miami stadium with the crowd extras for when the nose of the blimp lands on the 50-yard line. The ground crew are all in white shirts for the whole scene, except for Ground Crew Chief Vickers (in a gray shirt) & Jenkins (the guy with the bullhorn). The two other guys in jackets are the blimp TV camera crew.
@ItsSeanTheProducer Just a minor correction, but the exterior shots were filmed at the Goodyear Blimp Base in Carson, California. The 405 Freeway can be seen in the background. The entrance where Dahlia drives in is just off of Main Street.
This is a movie that definitely should be remade.

Tom Landry was great in this movie. What an actor. If only they'd given him a speaking role.

I think that Marthe Keller was very good in every film she played.

@expanding Robert Shaw was great, I agree. Sort of a humorless Israeli James Bond who doesn't chase women.

Does anybody have the creepy scene in which they use the unsuspecting old man to test the bomb on?

O and Robert Shaw turned in a great performance as well. Can't forget the man who made "Quint" come alive...

My personal favorite film of all time, just for the aviation sequences. Filmed in 1976, and released on March 11, 1977.

Can someone upload the rest of the movie?
