Why not develop this as an accessory or smartphone attachment? Clamp it on from both sides and you have yourself a new device. Love the design by the way.
I would like this if instead of the slide out qwerty keyboard the two flip out keyboards were half of one, so you typed with thumbs on the sides of the screen. Just an idea
The volume knob, the separate buttons, they are all so wonderful. No more whipping out the phone to turn the volume down, just reach a hand into one's pocket and roll with the thumb. Why is it that nobody has taken up this perfect design and made it into a physical device? If I had the financial backing I would do it myself.
This will never be a Windows phone for the simple reason that it does it does not follow the hardware standards. I don't see MS customizing the OS to support all that specialized hardware. You're better off with Android if you want to do this.
Thanks for the comment, but it’s purely a conceptual design, so the engineering may be 5 years out. The assumption is that materials will be stronger and the electronics will be smaller. With a conceptual research project, you try to address user needs (and make it look cool) in order to experiment and generate feedback.
@schultzeworks Dude, this should be made! it MUST be made! Someone must stem the tide of awkward and stupid designs. Seriously, did Apple hire all of its designers solely from disgruntled Good Vibrations employees?
Son, I just want to say one word to you: Triple Flip. There's a great future in Triple Flip. The secret is in the surface area. Think about it. Will you think about it? Shh shh... Enough said.
@HalfVALVeSite Luckily they have been hired by Microsoft to make WP7 more sexy, which has nothing to do with the design except it is a smartphone. You, me and everybody knows it will not run WP7 in the end, since WP7 does not add anything iOS, Blackberry and Android does not have. Microsoft: "Backed by money, not by vision"

@schultzeworks Yes, yes I know that it is just a concept design but I believe this phone can be built right now but again, the device being a little bit thicker. I prefer these hardware buttons specially with gaming but device manufacturers don't get it. The XPERIA play is good, I guess but unlike your design, you have a separate QWERTY keyboard.

Won't the device be much thicker since it has that keyboard?

Wow. If this is ever made, I would totally buy it.
Is there a headphone jack of some sort on it?

@MarsellaFyngold
Yes, and its on the same edge as the USB and HDMI ports, just at the other end. I didn't think it was noteworthy of a feature call-out.

This misses the point or smart phones entirely. Reminds me of atari clones that had controllers with 15 buttons on them.
