Manga was SO MUCH BETTER.

It made me actually emotional on the verge of tears, for like, five different reasons.

It also eats Arcuied's side from the VN and shits out unimaginable amounts of awesome. Three words: Shiki. Versus. ROA.

oh yes i remember this series thought it was funny as hell when he cut her head off the first time he saw her, then the story got all deep with all the twists and turns and then at the end i went aw hell she died, also epic knife fights

i heard this nero chaos guy looks a liitle bit like Alucard because he can summon hellhound all over his body like alucard with cromwell. am i right?

well technically his body is composed of 666 different types of beasts which he has formed the ability to create. When a beast dies it turns to goo and returns to his body making the beasts immortal. He doesn't know what beast will come out when they are summoned to attack and they can sense things even when nero himself doesn't even notice it. This is explained in great detail in the visual novel yet only touched upon in the anime.

This is a great video. I agree that this is a great series. I haven't gotten to read the novels or played the games it's based on though. So I can't say/type anything about differences. The thing that upset me about the series is the ending. Too many anime have really sad endings.

I understood that Arcueid went back to her slumber. The sad parts to were the fact that She and Shiki couldn't stay together in the end. And that Satsuki confessed her feelings for him. But he didn't give her an answer. I understood why he'd have trouble answering her, but he could've said something instead of making her runoff crying. That was so not cool.

Wow, you really have no idea how crappy the anime is do you? Satsuki confessed in the very beginning of the game pretty much. She was then kidnapped and turned into a vampire. Then Shiki killed her.

You should really look into getting the game. It's really good. If you like it you may also want to try Fate/Stay Night. Anyway, they're easy to find on line, and you can download the english patch at mirrormoon.

You could try mangafox. I think they stopped translating the manga though. I suggest you just read the VN... because it's finished and everything... and you can find out 'even more' about the story by going through the other routes. Personally I enjoyed the "Far Moon" routes more than the "Near Moon" routes. In the "Far Moon" routes Shiki doesn't get to know Arcueid. He just hangs out with Akiha and the maids the entire time. They also explain more about Shiki's past.

Shiki Nanaya is now Shiki Tohno. The original Shiki Tohno is now Roa. Shiki Nanaya (now known as Tohno) killed Roa (Shiki Tohno.)

So yes, Nanaya is the only one now.

Sadly, just like Type-Moons other dating sim turned anime Fate Stay/Night, it cuts out a lot of the original story...........but by making it pg 13 it makes it more accessible to so i guess its an acceptable trade off

OMG! I remember this anime!! I'd found it by pure chance while looking for something to do after I'd finished Hellsing, and lo and behold I found this gem. It seemed a bit...rushed, at time, since they tried to push so much into so few episodes, but I remember how creative it was. I loved it. This AMV was lovely too, you really caught the mood of both the song and anime. ^_^

Ya the movie isn't too clear on that part... mostly though he gains the ability to see and hunt non-human beings when he begins seeing lines where he can cut on everything. Basically he has two personalities, Shiki Tohno which is his normal state and Shiki Nanaya which is his non-human hunting form. Basically it's because of his blood that he acts that way and can't control himself from killing anything non-human.

well theres a visual novel which is kinda like a novel you read on the computer with images of ppl talking and scenes and stuff but has much more. You can choose different routes to take while reading it, like make certain decisions etc. that change the overall outcome of the story :)

well, that would only make sense, as the producers tried to explain everything to the point where people understand and fit in all the vampiric awesomeness of the game, and at the same time, squeeze all that into 12 half-hour episodes. it was almost inevitable that it would end up seeming a bit half-baked... at least that's my impression. if they focussed on one thing only, like the story or the characters, or extended the series, it would be much, MUCH better.

I started reading the manga for this show. From the AMV it looks like some things were changed in the fight Between Shiki and Nero Chaos. That's one thing that's sucky in manga conversions to anime.

ya except usually with manga there is more detail involved in describing the story. This anime leaves out a lot and changes some figures of the story but it is definetly worthwhile to watch imo.

The fight between Shiki and Nero Chaos was a bit too short in the anime also imo, it didn't show Nero's true power and made him look a lot weaker than he really was o.O

In this case, the manga was actually produced -after- the television series. The storylines of both were adapted from the Tsukihime visual novel produced by TYPE-MOON.

This anime is not the only of it's kind. Fate/Stay Night is another TYPE-MOON game that was picked up as a television series and manga.

It's a good series and is 24 episodes long but I still prefer Tsukihime due to the story line and characters... some characters in Fate Stay Night I didn't really like (and they were mostly main chars lol) but you should still check it out. A lot of people do like it better than Tsukihime, i'm just not one of em.

oh yeah...that makes more sense, cause if Shiki couldn't kill her than Roa shouldn't be able to either (same powers after all). I'm engrossed in volume 1 of the manga, lots of differences so far and i like it better than the show (Arcueid is SO much more fun and its revealed that she she can turn her fingers into claws to tear Dead Apostles apart, lol). Can't wait to see how the book series ends! have a good night!

there is also a wide variety of alternative endings and continuations so you can go check em out if you want, TSUKIHIME FTW! Arcueid is my fav char in the series and that is probably why I switched to using her in Melty Blood too ^_^

Apparently however, Type Moon is known for their sad endings (also see Fate Stay Night) which is a good and a bad thing at the same time -.O

I like the manga version better (currently reading it). I liked the anime too, up until the last dvd (ending of the show left me cold and confused, what really became of Arcueid? how could Roa harm her when Shiki couldn't?)

Well actually, she is still alive. Roa never really killed her. The reason she couldn't stay with Shiki was because she was reverting back to her natural instincts, that of a vampire. If she stayed with Shiki she would have to bite him and turn him into a dead apostle, something that Arcueid didn't want to do. She decided it was a better decision to leave Shiki than damn his soul. Wish it didn't have to end that way though :(
