she's beautiful! I am fixing to adopt a "naked" cockatoo from a rescue! I am going to try sockbuddies on her...I would rather get a rescue animal than any other, they need someone more! :)
fether plucker we got a green cheeked amozon she plucked till we gave her her first toy she was a rescue she plucks on and of a good deturent is the toys that have lots of string for them to pull of . by the way she is gorges!!!! I LOVE BIRDS
She is precious and gorgeous! We have 10 parrots, 4 of which are toos, they all have different personalities and I love them all, even the ones that hate me! our severe macaw's chest is totally naked and our male eclectus grows his feathers only to chew them off again. We think they are all gorgeous and we feel so blessed to have them all in our lives (along with our 35+ little birds) Noisy? YOU BET! Messy? Of course! and let's not forget demanding! And I wouldn't change it for the world!;o)
We have a male cockatoo, Omar, that plucks. Although he looks somewhat sad, he's really a happy little creature. He's doing the best he can...and we love him just as he is. We have three cockatoos...and each is different.
She is so adorable. I also have a parrot too. Paulie is a conure. She is pluckin g away also. I think she is jealous since I got quaker parrots. The vet suggested she might be depressed. Good luck and enjoy the bird. They are great!!!!!!
She looks great, my cockatoo plucked with his previous owner and it never completely grew back, doesn't stop him being gorgeous though. My exotic specialist mentioned something about grinding thyroxine tablets into his food to encourage feather growth? I decided it wasn't worth worrying about.
She night be moulting too. Every bird loses feathers and then grows back new ones. My quaker just went through that. Now he has a pretty brand new ones!
She must be rescued, right? She seems to be too happy now to do such damage to her feathers. Of course, after they have the habit, it is hard to break. Good on you for making her so happy now! Please people, watch the story of Bo the Moluccan Cuckatoo to see what happens too often to those wonderful living beings!

ha ha she's beautiful! Does she have a sad story? She looks well-adjusted but to look like that there must have been some trauma earlier in her life.

is it a condition, or does she still pull feathers?

I love that 'too chatter. Thanks so much for taking her from a shelter - she looks so happy.
And a note for other people who are curious - even happy, well-taken care of cocktoos can pluck.
