Paruparong bukid in this song pertains to some filipina women during American colonization wherein haharap sa altar at mananalamin not to pray..and then lalakad nang pakendengkendeng to flirt with the whites.....Haha ladi..
A very good rendition of our folk song. I knew this song since childhood....my mom sings this song alot. Brings tears to my eyes...you guys are wonderful.

This is the best song version I had come across here in YouTube ever sung by a foreign choir, that is, not from the Philippines.. I am lost for words, I've watched all the other foreign choir singing this same song but your group has the best presentation, and your singers are awesome.. aside from all beautiful ! The facial expression is great. Everyone sang from their heart as if they speak my language. Congratulations is in order to your music director too. AWESOME !
the best thing that I liked in this choir is that they sing it as if they can understand every word! (then again maybe they do!) haha. its actually kinda weird (not in a bad way) to hear this white race sing our folk song in our original arrangement and they sang it naturally. :)
i was really amazed with your rendition of our folk song "Paru-parong Bukid"! You are a very good chorale!!! Accompanied by dance & gestures...You even danced it accordingly. Wow!!! Ang Galing!!! Thank you for making us so proud. With all the smiles, that's exactly how it was taught to us by our folks and in school. Oh, I really can't help it...I was a little teary-eyed as i remember my childhood singing and dancing in school with this song. Magnifico!!!

Translation part 1/2 Paruparong bukid na lilipad-lipad Butterfly (referring to a young lass) that flutters about Sa gitna ng daa'y papagapagaspas It waves its wings in the middle of the road Isang bara ang tapis Wearing a 9 meter-long rectangular cloth over her skirt Isang dangkal ang manggas Sleeves, a handspan long Ang sayang de kola Her skirt that's shaped like a grand piano Isang piyesa ang sayad has a train that's as long as an entire rack of cloth
@manipulators2007 arrangement is just the same as those sung by our locals. MAYBE you just don't appreciate your own that it would take a Foreigner to appreciate our own...
very nice...they deserve a warm of applause...beautiful melody and harmony...diction wise it can be understood by Filipinos. I wonder whose arrangement is this... I really like it specially the obligato part...well done...
Uy! May suklay pa mandin. Uy! Naguas de ojetes ang palalabasin Haharap sa altar at mananalamin At saka lalakad nang pakendeng-kendeng
The Philippine government should thank this group of singers by inviting them to the Philippines all expenses paid . Show them the beauty of the Philippines expressed beyond the songs and dances. This is a very small expense compared to the gargantuan amount of dollars spent for foreign trips, The appreciation of our culture is heart warming at these times when almost every news emanating from the Philippines had been negative.
clap clap clap clap!! *picks up jaw. oh btw im a filipino, and them sashaying and moving to the tune, one girl acting the maria clara character with a guy, murmuring to each other, they just practically nailed it. its got FILIPINO written all over it.
Wow! A jaw-dropping performance indeed. The Madraliers could give the Madrigal Singers a run for their money...well, almost. Still, a superb rendition of one of the immortal folk songs of the Philippines. Looking forward to an encore with yet another Filipino folk song. Bravo!
sana kantahin din nila iyong BAKYA MO NENENG, BAHAY KUBO, POBRENG ALINDAHAO, PAMULINAWEN, USAHAY, O MALIWANAG NA BUWAN, tapos punta sila dito, panoorin natin.
Excellent job! Thanks for working so hard and singing this Filipino folk song with such great skill and having fun with it. Mabuhya Kayo! (More Power To You!)
You will enjoy this American interpretation of a Tagalog folksong, not only for the beauty of the music, but for the liveliness and beauty of the Tagalog language.
Butterfly from the field English Translation by Roberto Verzola I just saw a butterfly, flitting and floating by; waiting by the main trail, fluttering in the air. Sari wrapped around her, sleeves as wide as my palm, Skirt’s a trifle oversized, ends dragging on the ground. Her hair held with a pin Oh! Her hand twirling a comb Oh! Decorated half-slip, drawing others to peep. Then she faces the stage, ogling her own image, She would come and tease us, hips swaying like a duck.
