  • loved it all. i just though the drum set solo was a little elementary

  • I've learned several things watching these vids and reading the comments. 1. DCI is awesome 2. It takes YEARS of dedication to perfom at such a high level. 3. "The best" is arguable and 4. Some commentors are the rudest, most condescending and profane posters on the 'net. The problem is you think it's "cool" and YT enables your immaturity. GROW UP

  • Pure crap

  • @Ins0mNimr0d hellz yeah. Cavies played Samurai, Bluecoats had The Knockout, and Phantom played Spartacus. probably 3 of the best shows ever

  • I'm pretty sure everyone hates BD cause they are 14 time world champions.

  • It's funny how ppl think this was inspired by banished when this is where he got it from lol

  • fuck BD

  • damn im surprised the only time someone stepped on the dropped stick was after the drum break!

  • fuck the blue devils, go Cavs!

  • IS it just me, or does every Blue Devils show after this one suck?

  • definitely inspired by Banished Beyond

  • nice recovery

  • wow

  • The recover from the stick drop is so pro...

  • Did I see a dropped stick

  • HAHA 0:18 made me think of Banished Beyond and I started dying XD

  • Banished!!!!!!!!

  • beastttt!!

  • im sorry bd fans but cavies should of won the 2008 show

  • @Sexykitten1298 BD didnt even win that year, Phantom did.

  • @Sexykitten1298 T Cause that is totally relevant to this video and everything.

  • how did that drum break beat cavies? cavies '08 = best drum break ever

  • > Colorguard

  • he didn't drop his stick! he wanted to incorporate that as part of the visual! :P

  • do they use Scott Johnson signature sticks?

  • after he dropped the stick i keot focussing on him=.=

  • I marched cavaliers that year, I can honestly say, we deserved at least top 3, I'm respectable though so w/e but I feel that we got totally ripped off, I might upload some old Samurai practice footage I have.

  • aw dave natel drop the stick lol

  • 100% queerest guard outfits possible.

  • To bad they got their ass kicked by phantom.

  • @axtonreed Pro-mark bro...not their fault.

  • @axtonreed Define ass kicked... because bd lost by like .025 points :o

  • @axtonreed I could say so many things right now....

  • @axtonreed Yeah....... that one year.

  • @axtonreed Too bad the year following BD beat the piss out of everybody.

  • @JakeAFTaylor And then their percussion got their asses handed down to the 4th spot for two years. Go Cavies. :)

  • @axtonreed Because .025 difference is totally getting their asses kicked.

  • I couldn't pay attention to the solo at all...I was too distracted by the white stick on the ground...

  • Wow, the sabre dropped and the guard still gets a perfect score... That's risking absurdity, I'd say...

  • This was GARBAGE just admit it!!! And yes I'm a blue devils fan but that was supposed to be Cavaliers year.

  • @hawk8024 First of all you prick I never said this show was garbage their drum break is. Second if you think spinning basses 0:05 , whimsical dancing 0:19 and fruity posses 0:30 deserve Gold I suggest you never judge a competition if thats all it takes to impress you. Apparently in your world no one loses. I'll say it again though I am Blue Devils fan....and whoop DE do your opinion matters none at all to me, so shove it up your ass.

  • @gfaithw And it worked for the Cavaliers this year, with the upside down tenor solo..Although it was cool, it shouldn't of been and hopefully wasn't the deciding factor on winning best percussion.

  • @bowlerman84 It really doesn't even matter...In retrospect many of the corps changed sponsors and got big signing bonuses just because of previous Gold medals or what have you...All of which made other great directors lose their jobs. Its more of a corporate ball game than really being about music...Although the majority of directors have signed on with such sponsorships, they tend cop-out with " It's entirely about The Music, and we'll let the show be the real judge".

  • @gfaithw Well, I apologize for being a jerk, I could of said that differently. And I never said it deserved gold. I'm saying it certainly wasn't "garbage". People like me that purely enjoy the effort put into these shows and the quality of the the performances take offense to people calling anything that anyone performs (just a drum break or an entire show) something like garbage. And you're right,in my world one corps wins, but nobody loses. And DrmrGuy, I'm actually more of a Phantom Phanboy.(:

  • Ahhhhh the infamous Blue Devils dance lol never gets old.

  • blue devils are just bad ass but i like the 1993 carpe noctom show the tenor solos were just awsome

  • NOW I KNOW WHERE BANISHED GOT THAT SHIT FROM!!!

  • 2008 was the most bad ass year in dci history

  • @Ins0mNimr0d 2009 was better =P

  • I had to watch the bass drums do that visual like 7 times because I couldn't believe that happened.... Lmao

  • best stick drop recovery ever

  • rebirth of cavaliers samurai beat! and gimick! hihihh just sayin

  • im sure banished beyond liked that

  • Woah careful there bass 3, almost broke his neck on the visual..and the shake-o xD

  • nothing is as good as the 2003 intro...hands down

  • epic bass drum flip!!!!!!

  • .025

  • that snare rimshot going into 0:10 gives me chills every time. even if the show was a bit dirty and the drums, especially the snares, sound blehhh

  • this show disgusts me. i love BD dont get me wrong, this show was just sooooo dirty.

  • WOWWW nice damn recovery from the snare that dropped his stick...no hesitation wutsoever!!!

  • fail at :10

  • Comment removed

  • Freaking awesome. My favorite show from them in like forever.

  • :12 sounds like 04

  • @TBIRDsnare They're distinctively different.

  • @McDiddy99 yeah, I only meant like the three seconds after 0:12

  • @TBIRDsnare I know. They're distinctively different.

  • @McDiddy99 ...

  • bd: the corps were you drop the stick doing a trick AFTER your snare break and then it doesn't phase you going into a huge pile of full extension singles with crazy visuals.

  • im play 4 bass in high shool. but how the H*ll do they spin the drums like that?

  • @MrRedLogan i believe they have or got special carriers just for that purpose. w/ a normal carrier its impossible

  • @MrRedLogan they have special racks made for that.

  • Comment removed

  • @MrRedLogan special carriers

  • Did Banished get that visual from them, or them from Banished?

  • @drumboy1313 hahahha! Everything banished does is to make fun of signature things certain corps do, so he was mocking this visual.

  • Anyone else see the dropped stick at :11?

  • did that really just happen :OOOOOO

  • Yeah it's almost like he was prepared to recover Justin case he dropped it

  • 0:10 Oops....

  • yeah just noticed that lol, but he made a great recovery

  • Phantom 08 > Cavies 08 > BD 08

  • yeah banished beyond

  • dropped stick ohhh man!

  • reminds me of banished beyond lol

  • lol, anyone who can't appreciate this fantastic show must be mentally retarded. Constantly Risking Absurdity > anything Phantom Regiment, the Cadets, SCV, or the Cavaliers have ever done. This is high-brow art, kids.

  • @BDizDaBest I'm sorry, the show is great and all but don't discredit anything the other corps has done. The cavaliers especially, having some of the most innovative shows like Niagara Falls, Frameworks, 007, Green Machine, Samurai, and Mad World. You can see in the comments of a lot of these videos that whenever the cavaliers lose to BD, there seems to be an awful lot of disagreement to the judges...

  • dude Samurai was way better than this show honestly

  • i'm sorry to say this but if the drumline screwed bd over in 08

  • nigga drop his stick at :10

  • one of the most epic drum breaks in a few years by BD!

  • That was probably the smoothest drop recovery i've ever seen.

  • @daryk44 It was like he was freakin' expecting to drop it. The second it fell out of his hands he was reaching for the spare stick. Very impressive.

  • @daryk44 Damn, i didn't even notice that stick drop until you mentioned something. Probably got some extra points for that. ha

  • @daryk44 I keep watching it over and over. I like how he even added an extra twirl on the right

  • @daryk44 Don't blink, you will miss it.

  • their basses spin????? EPIC!!!

  • the solo just seems out of place. like it doesn't belong in that section, i dunno

  • Understandable, but then I just look at the name of the show and the whole visual aspect of this break seems "absurd".

  • I understand that, but out of place in musical context and absurd aren't the same thing. I see how the visual side of this break is absurd. But the musical side of it doesn't flow with the rest of the piece; or in this case, break.

  • someone drop their stick

  • Hey give them props! i dont really like blue devils but its gotta b hard to play those metric modulated singles or however its spelt, especialy with the waddling :) But i agree, 1 drum solo is samurai then bluecoats then Phantom

  • I personally think bluecoats was way better than Samurai because of how everything was intergrated together before the speed up. Plus that bass feature kicks ass.

  • samurai was better

  • @AnthonyRZA Thank you for putting it into perspective.

  • @AnthonyRZA lol Uhh, don't think so. The standings don't lie, kid. The Sausagefestaliers will never be a patch on the ass of the Concord Blue Devils.

  • @BDizDaBest isnt that why cavaliers having getting first in all their shows this year.show at roundrock. what did BD get? 3rd. what did cavaliers get? 1st bitch. thank you have a good day:)

  • @animelover3400 Cavalier fans are getting pretty desperate. Now they're trying to own me with first place finishes in mid-July...

  • @BDizDaBest lets end this right now, we both have to admit that both corps are amazing.

  • wooo banished beyond

  • they need to come to south carolina

  • It should've been...

    1. Samurai

    2. Spartacus/Constantly Risking Absurdity.

    Everything else

    Last place- 1930

  • 1930 was a difficult show. How can it be easy when the tempo is at 250 for a minute and a half? (The tempo hits 250 at "I got rhythm.)

  • @reverberate10 1930 was boring as hell; nothing special about it. Typical Blue Devils bullshit. Sure, its difficult, but it sounds like shit and 1930 was completely unoriginal. They didn't deserve all around best guard award either; Great Divide had incredible guard, much better than any bullshit Blue Devils crap.

  • @LittlezDDR If 1930 was typical BD bullshit, then why are you watching the drum break for BD 2008?

  • Also, I liked 2008 BD. The percussion was awesome and it had one of the most climatic endings to a show ever, but it was boring. Music was pretty boring and the guard for the show was stupid. Samurai was not the best of 2008, but it deserved at least 2nd. The Drum break was much cooler; sure, not as precise or technical as BD drumline, but the only big thing BD has going for them is the horn line. Cavaliers guard in 08 was incredible. Marching was awesome; overall better show.

  • Your just mad because Great Divide was one of the worst shows cavies have done. lol Dude they wouldnt get an all season winning streak if their show was boring. they were UNDEFEATED. not just one judge picking favorits, it was EVERY judge saying they were the best. =)

  • It was BORING. I dislike Blue Devils shows. I don't base my critique simply based off of music. Technically, 1930 was a complex show and the percussion was better, but Great Divide was 1. More entertaining 2. Better Guard (no doubt) and 3. Innovative (echo use). Yes, it was bad as far as Cavaliers shows go because most of their shows are incredible. No Blue Devils show has matched up to any Cavaliers championship show (except for the possibility of 2001). I don't like BD style; just an opinion.

  • i love this show so much

  • wow this drum break really never gets old..

  • at :11 watch the front row snare drummer drop his stick but he took another out just in time

  • no shit sherlock

  • yea your cool

  • thanks for pointing out the obvious

  • no problem anytime :D

  • yup realize the stupidity in your comments fool

  • to think ud go that far cause i mentioned that someone dropped his stick huh

  • hey your on the bandwaggon with me on this your replying as much as i am

  • yeaaa.... lol

  • anger management problems much? i think lolz comments were helpful. i didnt even notice it till i read his comment.

  • that was kinda cool

  • ehhh not impressed..."Hey lets ramm so many notes our hands hurt guys"...but i give them props they play hard stuff...

  • hell yea i think they should have been a tie last year cause phantom had a damn good drum breack to, and that stick dropped, but it was a fast comeback

  • wow, dropped his stick, that blows

  • that IS pretty cool but i don't think it's as cool as 2007

  • Yeah, this one has some cool visuals.

BUT 07's was pretty good too.

Ah who cares, its the blue devils, all their drum breaks are impressive.

  • @drumlinefreak13 are u kidding me?
