Is the opening title sequence a slightly altered version of NIN's "A warm place" (they sound similar)... and if not, can someone tell me the name of the intro song? Thanks. It's hauntingly beautiful.
I loved this show, the music was especially great. it's too bad the show was ahead of it's time. by that I mean a cable show competing against the networks, now it's commonplace but then it was new ground.
now we have Donovan doing Burn Notice, which is good, but I wish this series had gone further than it did, I for one really enjoyed it. I have the pilot on my computer still and when I show it to people, they enjoyed it also.
such a shame.
the music was perfect for the feeling of the show.
a damn smart opening sequence for a damn smart show!
The concept was good (they made it better than the original version even), there was some major talent in acting in this and the dark angsty but oddly quiet (there is no "BBOOOM BOOM" and gunshots every 2 seconds for example) feeling the whole serie give was very different from other cop shows.
But most of all: the thing was very visually elaborated, just like this opening: camera plays, color filter, haunting scenes and all... brillant!
Here's the track list. 01 12 Rounds - Touching Evil Theme 02 Nine Inch Nails - A Warm Place 03 Groove Armada - Edge Hill 04 Max Rebo Band - Ray-Da 05 12 Rounds - Mr. Johnson Take A Bow 06 Moby - Inside 07 Oakenfold - Zoo York 08 Gus Gus - Is Jesus Your Pal 09 Nine Inch Nails - The Day The World Went Away (Quiet) 10 Craig Armstrong - This Love 11 12 Rounds - 2 Miles 12 Aphex Twin - Alberto Balsalm 13 Rockers Hi-Fi - Going Under 14 BONUS - 12 Rounds vs. KMN - Touching Evil (A KMN Experiment)
Messiah, Silent Witness, and Prime Suspect are also UK shows you you might like. By far, my favourites are the Robson Green ones, Touching Evil and WITB.
You guys who miss the show might want to check out the original - Touching Evil, a Grenada series aired on ITV in the UK circa 1997. It starred Robson Green, who also starred in Wire in The Blood which has aired on BBC America (I believe)... The UK version is not as slick and slightly more 'gutteral'... but if you like this, you may appreciate the original as well as WITB.
Same shit happens with every GOOD show they pull from the UK.
Just look at the Danish miniseries Riget- Stephen King tried to turn that into a nice, thick, juicy hunk of series and it only got 15 measly episodes to make way for the SUPERBOWL.
I HATE THE SUPERBOWL.
Also, this doesn't count because it's not from the UK, but every version of Knight Rider after the first.
I miss this show so, so much. It's better than a lot of the dren they've got playing on TV now. Can't believe USA cancelled it like that... they've somewhat made up for it with Burn Notice, but I'd still prefer to have Touching Evil airing.
@SethHisoka I don' t think it's "the day the world went away" (It's one of my fave NIN songs)- I think it's "A warm place", and slightly altered and maybe sped up (and obviously just a segment of the song, not the entire thing)... pretty sure it's a warm place by NIN... and not the day the world went away, which sounds pretty different to me. I have the song on CD (several versions actually) and you might be right but this still sounds me like "a warm place to me"...
No, it was cancelled because USA Network cancelled it. I'm pretty sure Bruce Willis and the other producers would have liked to have continued making money from it...
I've just readed that info, and it was incorrect?, but if it is case, USA network dons't recognize something great with they see. Sorry Bruce and the rest, hehe.
i love this opening sequence it absolutely sets the tone of the show and i cant believe this show was cancelled but burn notice got a 2nd season ugh!!!
I miss this show too :(, I never understood how a show that was given such good reviews could be canned. Instead we got The 4400, which was ok for a couple of seasons, but I think Touching Evil had something really special about it, it's a real shame :(.
I agree with you! And you know what's a little ironic? Now the 4400 was cancelled to make room for another season of Burn Notice staring Jeffery Donovan!
I knew it had been canned but I didn't realise it was to make space for Burn Notice. I saw the show recently and it's ok, I really like Donovan and Campbell, but the show is not as good as Touching Evil or the 4400 and yet it gets a 2nd season, totally crazy!
It's a remix of Nine Inch Nail's "A Warm Place". Both are good, but there's nil chance of finding this song in any other format than in this sort of video: No soundtrack or mp3's floating around.
Has anyone tried to buy and watch the "Brilliant but Cancelled Crime Dramas?" Touching Evil is shown on that DVD among some other short-lived crime series.
*disgusted tone* Because it didn't, apparently, make a good "pairing" with "Monk." The shows had drastically different tones and were played one after the other--perhaps they couldn't get as many viewers as they would've liked. I grudgingly admit Psych is a better pairing with Monk on Fridays, but they didn't have to get rid of Touching Evil completely. I love Burn Notice though.
Man I loved this show Vera and Jeff were great. I finally got like illegal dvds of it, the quality isnt good. I wish they would release it legally so I could get the real thing.
If you want a downloadable QuickTime version, you can go to the web site of the people who designed them: http://www.imaginaryforces.com/html/index.html?s=projects&q=6&id=254

GREAT music choice for this series- eerie, dark, minor chords, slightly sad.
But aw, it makes me miss this show!!!!

It's the theme by the series composers, band 12 Rounds.

I know that's it's one of the lesser-known Nine Inch Nails songs- "The Day The World Went Away".
If anyone else tells you differently, they are DEAD WRONG. I can no longer find the song but it was on youtube, and it's a beautiful song.

It was cancelled coz the producers didn't have a view with this show. Greatest not doubt. Wonderful music from OP.
Fuck Bruce Willis and all the staff of producers, to let drop this series.
