  • Its his effects pedal's fault, the rp50 i think i saw

  • could anyone tell what the difference between the x2n and dp158 ?? coz I'm planning to put DP158 and EVO 2 .. does anyone recommend it ? and what's the difference ?

  • would a x2n and a d activator sound good together? x2n in the bridge and d activator in the neck.

  • i thought the x2n's were supposed to sound good. This sounds like shit.

  • @DarioLosso69 YA it does sound like shit, the equipment was a bass amp and a bass Fx pedal lol

  • @lateralus423 thx for clarifying. Now i want that pickup again.

  • @lateralus423 m8 nice playing. Let me ask you . Does Xn2 Helped your tapping? in compare with the stock pick up? and the pinch harmonics? ty

  • @DarioLosso69 rtard noob :)) lol

  • Your timing is WAAY off.

  • Im curious why people comment on 3 year old videos? Look at my new stuff.

  • @lateralus423 Searched X2N...?

  • @lateralus423 Furthermore, as long as a video is on Youtube, it is open for comments. You can't suddenly decide you don't like people commenting on your video when it's a public domain. If you make a good impression with this video, THEN will I be more likely to view your other and later stuff.

  • @lateralus423 because if its timing is off 3 years ago, its timing is off now. that hasn't changed. and i came here searching x2n into youtube - got this. bam. if you don't want people commenting, turn the comments off.

you didn't make the x2n sound bad btw, and i thought your timing was fine for playing without the song - you don't play like a machine it's all the flaws and changes that make you a real guitarist. normally i wouldn't watch a video like this the whole way through, but i did. gj.

  • Sounds synth like.

  • bad

  • I haveto agree with ElectricNeoclassism. When I think of Thrash Metal I think of a DiMarzio Tone Zone, Steve's Special Super Distortion, and Evolution. Seymour Duncan JB, Distortion, Custom 5, Blackout or EMGs. The X2N is a great metal pickup, but it truely shines on downtuned stuff, especially death metal.

  • this was the pickup that chuck shuldiner used. he was in the first death metal band - death lol

  • is pretty cool but not for thrash metal

  • huh ?....then what is? dude the x2n is 150% metal...... cuz emg'z sound too digtal........im curious what u consider thrash

  • Does anyone see the fucking date at which it was posted, LOL

  • comprate un metronomo!!!! no tenes ritmo

  • OMG u totally suck. playing it wrong and i can see that your hand can't catch up with the picking speed. :)

  • Too much gain, sounds like crap.

  • This is not a sound test ... it's just someone trying to showoff!!!!

  • showoff badly...

  • haha

  • lol

  • :P to show of u have to play good

  • take off the reverb, your demonstrating its sound dont add shit

  • souns good with the reverb ... but yeah its harder to get the tone with added affects

  • I'm getting a Jackson KVX10 King V, a DiMarzio DP102 X2N for the bridge, and a DiMarzio Tone Zone DP155 (not the covered one) for the neck. Same setup as my guitar teacher cuz it's sounds AWESOME!!!!

  • Dude I think you sound really good!!

Fuck all these losers they dont know what there talking about!!!. Keep practicing.

  • Dimarzio admits in their product descriptions that the X2N is their highest gain pickup.

This pickup is hotter passively than any EMG can possibly be actively.

As far as gain capability goes, the X2N cannot be beaten, IMO.

BUT, The Evolution is a pretty decent pickup as well, seems like the evolution was designed more for clarity, rather than max gain, which is definitely better.

  • those are some nasty ass shorts dude.

  • what should i get for bridgeposition, tonzone or X2n? whats better for metal

  • This video is old and its when i had shit equipment, and now that i have a decent amp (Carvin legacy) i really dislike the x2n i MUCH prefer dimarzio evolutions over it. there high gain and just smooth.

  • Your timing is way wrong. Get a better amp and practice more. You'll get it.

  • SICK SOUND! X2N RLZ!

  • schaller hot stuff is very simil ?

  • damn dude, slow down, and also how are pinch harmonics with the x2n

  • looks like this guitar is badly intonated too.

  • Now tell me how the fuck do you know that? Intonation is made through sound. Not the way the saddles are lined up you ass.

  • the hell are you talking about? Intonation is string lenght, and therefore the saddles lenght from the nut

  • Im talking about the saddles dont line up the same on every guitar.

  • so? neck scale is different too

  • You wanna keep going with this?

I can go all fucking day dude.

  • nah, i'd rather learn from reliable truthfull sources

  • one of the reasons it sounds bad is because you can't take a shit guitar, put a sick pick up in it, and expect it to sound good all of a sudden

  • ? i didnt only try it in that guitar moron. I tryed it in my RG1570 prestige which is a 900 dollar guitar through a carvin legacy which is a 900 dollar amp. So yes IMO it is shit. Evos > X2N

  • i think what he's implying is that youre bad. i dont think so, but i think he does.

  • how would the x2n sound with a solid state amp i know they probally sound best with a tube amp?

  • Sounds good.

But you play without any feeling and you miss many parts of the music.

  • Well Im using a Carvin legacy and it just doesn't sound good with it....so my x2n is just catching dust.

  • That doesn't mean that X2N is a bad pup.

  • It would help if the amp was better.

I play through a Bugera 6262 212 and I have X2N's in my guitar. Sounds heavy as FUCK

Chuck Schuldiner used x2n's. If it was good enough for the god and father of death metal than it's good enough for you lol.

  • theres why it sounds bad your running it through a bass amp.......

  • Just to let everyone know IMO this pickup is a piece of shit, i got rid of this whole setup years ago and currently run a Carvin Legacy VL100 half stack and an Ibanez RG1570 prestige with Two DiMarzio Evolution pickups and its so fucking badass!

  • i had almost the same combo of gear while ago, and i can tell u, amp is good (that is bass amp) it brings warm and thick tone, digitech RP50 processor is crap! it has that unnatural distortion full of low and crapy eq's. truth is that i expected better sound out of this pickups..

  • Sound bad....for me

  • agree. this sounds like shit. I use x2n but I do not sound like this

  • More than likely a crap amp, I love the tone from the X2N! But this does sound pretty bad, not the playing, but the amp!

  • depends on your gear

  • oh really? Maybe thats why, my sound is better. oh and next time play something you dont have problem with.

  • ya, he may use diff distortion

  • yop ;)

  • can anyone recommend me a bridge pickup to use with the x2n for shred+cleans?

    Thanks

    Ryan

  • the X2N is a bridge pickup ;) what guitar do you play?

  • Sorry, i meant neck pickup. Gibson sg faded. IM thinking either a humbucker from hell or a air norton, since im going to use it for clean and neck pcikup solos

  • hmmm. because i have one, i'd personally recommend looking for the dimarzio/ibz pickups on ebay as they are not sold separately, they sound absolutely incredible, especially in plit mode (would require some additional mods on an SG though). air norton would be a good choice too (quite similar) or the D-Activator-X Neck because it's designed to work in guitars with ultra high output pickups in the bridge, but i don'T know what it sounds like, so it's just tech talk.

  • hows the fret access on the sg style?

  • why do you aks me oO? i neither have nor like the gibson SG necks. kinda wide and flat, i prefer thin and round necks.

  • i like em like that, since this is my first guitar, but it sounds close enough to a generic mahogany guitar with crappy gibson pickups.

  • What are you using on the neck?

  • What amps do you use, man? Just curious.

  • that was awsome playing, but just to let you know everything except the solos are downpicked

  • u have the rp100 to?

  • Do not put a X2n on neck, instead put in something like a super distortion or air norton, X2n is pretty sick on the bridge if you want nitty gritty grindy thunderstorm kinda tone.

  • do you alternate pick the part at 00:47?

  • x2n and paf is a killer combo, im cost=idering putting them on my mcs bastard v

  • thanks dude.

it sounds fuckin awesome on my precious Jeffery.

just to give you an idea what i am workin with...

i have 29 scalloped frets with an SG body.

i got the X2N and the PAF PRO goin on.

i got piezoelectric pickups installed and i personally put in a killswitch.

i play through a mogami gold tip cable hooked into a huge ass marshal cabinet and my amp head is a ZVEX NANO.

AND i am currently workin on an album with a few good friends.

    i swear by those pickups...

  • sounds sick, 29 frets wow! have you got a tremolo on that?

  • I have X2n- Wont be without it.Chunks, Squeals, Tone out the azz, Crisp, & No noise at high volume.

  • im deciding between a dimebucker and an X2N i havent really heard any good harmonics on the x2n whereas the dimebucker makes it squeal so much... any suggestions???

  • that pickup is vicious.

  • lol i was going to buy the x2n but seeing this and hearing metallica killed my like of the pick up, ty for ruining it for me

  • dude i was playing without the song of course theres gonna be timing issues plus this video is like a year old ive progressed alot.

  • what you said is a complete load of crap... plus it's a review of pickups (kinda) more than showing off talent. you don't have a video of yourself playing anything, so I would shuttup if I were you.

  • This video isnt even really as good as it sounds. It sounds 10x better.

  • good stuff man, ive been debating on that pickup for a year now, but after watching this im sold. keep it up man!

  • Hey man this is awesome .. i love it

  • Nice playing, man.

  • Dude, your knee it shakes, sname thing happens to me when i play :\ Wierd, but good playing man keep it up.

  • I do that when siting for no reason...i even have a signature efect from this :D

  • very aggressive sound, nice

  • looking for a bridge pickup looking at a superdistortion 3 or this x2n

  • X2N is the way to go.

  • nah its a sparkly green color.

  • nice..

hey man.. is your RG321 weathered black in color?

  • ok , that pickup kicks major ass, sounds full

  • Let them talk shit, I like your sound. You nailed the bridge perfectly, way better than most of the guys around here. Other riffs were bit too fast, but still nice sound!

  • it sounds empty withoutit to me man lol

  • try Chorus. Metallica uses lots of Chorus effects in their music. BTW that guys an Idiot!

  • The fuck do you have delay on? It sounds somewhat retarded.

  • I have a 321mh. i dont like the widness of the fret board..i wanna get a new neck.... other than that, i love the 321mh

  • guys would an evolution (neck) and an x2n (bridge) be ok to replace with on my rg1570 prestiege??

  • This isn't really a test, just master of puppets. Spose it shows off what the X2N is good for. The verse riff is slightly off, the wrong riff played very well ;) Nice shorts too, as zuck said.

  • I got the rg before the mahogony, or i woulda got the MH finish thing, nonetheless its a GREAT guitar :)

  • No actually they were pretty good imo, out beat my friends LP in gain. Id say for stock they arent to shabby. Which RG did you get?

  • I just ordered the rg321mh in the grey nickel color this morning had my hands on a older 520 but coudn't fork out the dough i was just hopping the inf3 and inf4 were ok thanks for the input though after i get more cash i'm gonna try a tone zone in the bridge and an air norton in the neck

  • did the stock pickups sound like crap on your rg i just ordered mine and am hopping for the best

  • What ^?

  • intonation im guessing..

  • Is octave tuning correct in the position of the bridge saddle?

  • mmm nice shorts lol. oh good playin too.

  • the x2n is a humbucker yah.

  • Isnt that a single coil? The dimarzio x2n is a humbucker right?

  • I have the bx600 also, and it makes for a really good guitar amp. When I play shows that require me to play bass for one song and guitar for another, I just hook up a boss MetalZone and go to town. Even though your rig is not designed for guitar, it still has a really thick, tubey sound. Sweet pickup!

  • A behringer bx600 bass amp and a digitech bp80..crap right now till i can get some cash and buy a better rig. but i had the EQ shittyon this take.

  • what amp do you have?

  • nice. X2N is a great pickup. have one on a jackson king v
