could anyone tell what the difference between the x2n and dp158 ?? coz I'm planning to put DP158 and EVO 2 .. does anyone recommend it ? and what's the difference ?
@lateralus423 Furthermore, as long as a video is on Youtube, it is open for comments. You can't suddenly decide you don't like people commenting on your video when it's a public domain. If you make a good impression with this video, THEN will I be more likely to view your other and later stuff.
@lateralus423 because if its timing is off 3 years ago, its timing is off now. that hasn't changed. and i came here searching x2n into youtube - got this. bam. if you don't want people commenting, turn the comments off.
you didn't make the x2n sound bad btw, and i thought your timing was fine for playing without the song - you don't play like a machine it's all the flaws and changes that make you a real guitarist. normally i wouldn't watch a video like this the whole way through, but i did. gj.
I haveto agree with ElectricNeoclassism. When I think of Thrash Metal I think of a DiMarzio Tone Zone, Steve's Special Super Distortion, and Evolution. Seymour Duncan JB, Distortion, Custom 5, Blackout or EMGs. The X2N is a great metal pickup, but it truely shines on downtuned stuff, especially death metal.
I'm getting a Jackson KVX10 King V, a DiMarzio DP102 X2N for the bridge, and a DiMarzio Tone Zone DP155 (not the covered one) for the neck. Same setup as my guitar teacher cuz it's sounds AWESOME!!!!
Dimarzio admits in their product descriptions that the X2N is their highest gain pickup.
This pickup is hotter passively than any EMG can possibly be actively.
As far as gain capability goes, the X2N cannot be beaten, IMO.
BUT, The Evolution is a pretty decent pickup as well, seems like the evolution was designed more for clarity, rather than max gain, which is definitely better.
This video is old and its when i had shit equipment, and now that i have a decent amp (Carvin legacy) i really dislike the x2n i MUCH prefer dimarzio evolutions over it. there high gain and just smooth.
? i didnt only try it in that guitar moron. I tryed it in my RG1570 prestige which is a 900 dollar guitar through a carvin legacy which is a 900 dollar amp. So yes IMO it is shit. Evos > X2N
Just to let everyone know IMO this pickup is a piece of shit, i got rid of this whole setup years ago and currently run a Carvin Legacy VL100 half stack and an Ibanez RG1570 prestige with Two DiMarzio Evolution pickups and its so fucking badass!
i had almost the same combo of gear while ago, and i can tell u, amp is good (that is bass amp) it brings warm and thick tone, digitech RP50 processor is crap! it has that unnatural distortion full of low and crapy eq's. truth is that i expected better sound out of this pickups..
Sorry, i meant neck pickup. Gibson sg faded. IM thinking either a humbucker from hell or a air norton, since im going to use it for clean and neck pcikup solos
hmmm. because i have one, i'd personally recommend looking for the dimarzio/ibz pickups on ebay as they are not sold separately, they sound absolutely incredible, especially in plit mode (would require some additional mods on an SG though). air norton would be a good choice too (quite similar) or the D-Activator-X Neck because it's designed to work in guitars with ultra high output pickups in the bridge, but i don'T know what it sounds like, so it's just tech talk.
Do not put a X2n on neck, instead put in something like a super distortion or air norton, X2n is pretty sick on the bridge if you want nitty gritty grindy thunderstorm kinda tone.
im deciding between a dimebucker and an X2N i havent really heard any good harmonics on the x2n whereas the dimebucker makes it squeal so much... any suggestions???

Dude, you need to practise a lot more.
Your timing is off and the tempo on the chorus riff is wrong. Furthermore you play all the riffs wrong and the whole song should be downpicked, no alternative picking.
what you said is a complete load of crap... plus it's a review of pickups (kinda) more than showing off talent. you don't have a video of yourself playing anything, so I would shuttup if I were you.
Let them talk shit, I like your sound. You nailed the bridge perfectly, way better than most of the guys around here. Other riffs were bit too fast, but still nice sound!
This isn't really a test, just master of puppets. Spose it shows off what the X2N is good for. The verse riff is slightly off, the wrong riff played very well ;) Nice shorts too, as zuck said.

I have the bx600 also, and it makes for a really good guitar amp. When I play shows that require me to play bass for one song and guitar for another, I just hook up a boss MetalZone and go to town. Even though your rig is not designed for guitar, it still has a really thick, tubey sound. Sweet pickup!
Its his effects pedal's fault, the rp50 i think i saw

the hell are you talking about? Intonation is string lenght, and therefore the saddles lenght from the nut

But you play without any feeling and you miss many parts of the music.

It would help if the amp was better.
I play through a Bugera 6262 212 and I have X2N's in my guitar. Sounds heavy as FUCK
Chuck Schuldiner used x2n's. If it was good enough for the god and father of death metal than it's good enough for you lol.

why do you aks me oO? i neither have nor like the gibson SG necks. kinda wide and flat, i prefer thin and round necks.
