America needs to reinvent itself. Being a global superpower involves not only a wealth, power, and influence but also a responsibility - an element which American politicians are trying to avoid to limit the risk of failure....
@toxicwaste2006 Well America isn't going to be a world power for much longer with the outsourcing of jobs to foreign countries. China is. So it will be China's responsiblity to be the worlds protector and humanitarian provider. But something tells me China wouldn't be entirely cut out for the job.

Little is mentioned in the posts about Beardsley! He is also a hero and for me he says it straight with little restrained emotion You hear bitterness sadness anger in his voice when he talks about Rwanda says it flat with no sugarcoating The intervention force was there to save whites you were gonna die if you were Tusti and the worst that could have happened is theft of a federal aircraft if you flew bodies to the New York put them in front of you they did not care and were gonna do nothing!
"...leaves a very very bad taste in my mouth that the United States of America could have 350 marines sitting at Bushumburg Airport, that the French were able to get in 500 or so paratroopers, that the Belgiums had over a thousand paratroopers. You know, we basically had our intervention force already on the ground.... What they later told us was impossible to get on the ground, we had it on the ground within the 10th of April within 3 days of this thing starting" - Major Brent Beardsley
Why is it that even when Bill Clinton is talking about a serious issue, a GENOCIDE, he still has that stupid perverted smirk on his face at all times??
The beginning of this video makes me sick. Who cares what kind of "push" taking action would have required! Mark my words, if it were his family and friends bieng hacked to death, his children bieng gunned down, he wouldn't stop "pushing" until they were safe and protected. The people that did nothing are on equal levels as those that murdered in my mind. How incredibly sad.
The UN security council are hypocrates, spineless selfish cowards who only cares about money, 1 million dead rwandans dosent mean shit to the west. We abandoned the people we were suposed to help because we dont give a shit about nothing that we cant make money on, when it comes down to it, the UN and the west are the real responsables for the genoside in Rwanda, they have a lot of blood on their hands and should be charged for it.
What was America's interest in Vietnam, rubber? What was America's interest in Korea, kim chi? American soldiers have fought and died for others because it was the moral thing to do, not because of 'interests'. Why did America not intervene in Rwanda? That's a good question, go ask Bill Clinton. But to suggest that America did not intervene because they had no interest in Rwanda is nonsense.
@koyunbaba73 O sea, en que mundo tu vives, se nota que no pasaste por la escuela, ah cierto para que alguien como tu sepa esto debe ir a la universidad.
@koyunbaba73 It is my understanding(but I am not too sure about this so plz let me know if I am wrong ok?) that the Americans got involved in Korea and Vietnam because at that time the US was absolutely terrified of Communism and the Domino Effect
@koyunbaba73 I think(?) at that time Communisum was the complete opposite of American beliefs no free speech no individual income etc They were see as cold mindless robots who existed only for the State and what they could contribute to the State Alot of countries fell to Communist rule at the end of WW2 but many countries thought Communisum was the way to go and joined forces with the USSR including countries the US needed to be friendly with
@koyunbaba73 so here was the largest country in the world the USSR who's system of gov't was a threat democracy slowing absorbing countries all over the world and now they are taking over in Asia! 1st Europe then S America now Asia and Cuba about 90 miles from US shores Seems they were surrounded by the enemy and some Communist were now in the US! (McCarthy era) If the USSR had enough control of countries it could be a threat to US interest also Sorry if it is confusing but that is how I see it
@ohwell94 I don't understand everything you said. Sorry. Communism was a threat to freedom and also a threat to life itself. In the 1930s, 7 million Ukrainians starved to death because of communism. Mao's communism murdered 70 million Chinese. That's just for starters. Americans saw communism spreading and fought to stop it. They did so for their own interests and for the interests of others.
@koyunbaba73 Hun you are probably right and I am so sorry if I confused you. Reading my own post confused the heck out of me lol! I think I tried to explain the Domino Theory,Communisum, and the Vietnam War all in one shot and just ended up making a mess of things! Sorry if I confused or offended you or anyone else!
@erialton I'm not all that smart I just pay attention to what is going on in the world instead of what is going on in the life of the latest celebrity. Thank you though. The only down side is that the more I learn about what goes on in this world the more disgusted I get.
@aqinthe so, go with the flow and enjoy sports and tv, like millions out there. Life is going to an end, nothing really matters. Voltaire said that we will live this world so mean and stupid as we founded it. So, forget all this questions, sport. By the way, i don't even remember how this argument began. Peace!
@aqinthe Hun I am like you in that respect It amazes me how caught up alot of pp get in issues that are stupid and totalliy ignore the major ones! the Americans were on the verge of having thier 1st AA or woman president but more ppl were interested in who the father of Anna Nicole Smiths's baby was! Rwanda happened but we all wanted to know how often Monica got on her knees for Clinton! It is ridiculous!!!
@aqinthe any government, any individual, only cares if there is an incentive. The incentive for the United States was non existent. If the United States does something, people flip shit. If the United States doesn't do anything, people flip shit. That's how it works. Look at Vietnam. Had the United States NOT gone to Vietnam, there could have been and even MORE brutal civil war. Then what would have people said about the states?
@FA22raptero1 I'm against the U.S. going into most places. But it wasn't like there was well armed, well organized soldiers in Rwanda. The unarmed UN troops that stayed where able to stop some killing. We always seem to go in when we shouldn't (Iraq) and don't go in when we should. The U.S. didn't even need to go in. All they had to do is pressure the UN to go in. It was France, Belguim that helped cause the problem.
dallaire was a candy ass. he did nothing. But he could do something. He was there and made a choice. His choice was doing nothing and pose as a person who cares. But facts shows he was a candy ass.
One thing that stands in my mind is the American need an excuse to intervene in the conflict... I have never liked America... but now I despise them they are not high and mighty just a bunch of capitalist pigs hellbent on a world economical empire.... Romeo Dallaire is the type of people we need running the united nations

1968 "Dark of the Sun", that movie shows a perfect example what it takes for foreign military action into a under developed country suffering like the genocide of Rwanda, a group of mercenaries are sent into I think it was the Congo to retrieve diamonds from a mining company and to escort foreign nationals out, money is the only motivating factor in modern war.
@boz2094 did somalia have oil? does afghanistan have oil? has the us pumped a single drop of iraqi oil? if the us army went in, ppl like you would find a way to call it immoral
@srithikdatta probably because they always fuck up like during vietnam when they slaughtered civilians, and their napalm and b52 bombing raids across Cambodia and Laos. Why is it so hard for a country with that tech and recources to ai another in ruin? Why didnt they help because ive been taught to help those in need?
@decilepsy1 Vietnam was the Cold War and it was a civil war just like in Korea, it was difference situation at the wrong place at the wrong time. This is exactly why you blame for U.S. for intervene then when we don't, people like you bitch.
@srithikdatta Actually Somalia has a ton of oil which is actually one of the reasons for the genocide in Darfur. Somalia sells all of its oil to China. They have a shitload of oil btw
@kingwebster1 i did not know that. thats too bad that place is still a shithole then. I'd hope they at least get developed if they had such resources like the middle east.
@boz2094 any government, any individual, only cares if there is an incentive. The incentive for the United States was non existent. If the United States does something, people flip shit. This is so frustrating. More so because it's already happened, and it seems like the people that actually care and are watching this documentary right now are 16 years too late. How could the US/UN not intervene? How could they, with good conscience, allow this to go on? It's something I don't think I'll ever understand...
@mikimelbourne Why didnt Austrailia help. Evryone gets mad at the U.S. when they interfere with other countries problems then they blame them when they dont.
@SIzemore3434 You're right, BUT, the Australians were probably too busy finishing off the Aborigines to concern themselves with any other matter; not that they give a crap about the suffering of black Africans. Remember, it was only just recently that the Australians even gave a lip-service useless apology to the Aborigines, as if that makes up for the usurpation of their land amongst countless other atrocities committed against them.
@agbadu I see where your coming from. I was just trying to state a point. It just pisses me off that people get mad at the U.S. when the dont help and even when they do help
You don't think so??This is the UN's job to secure safety around the world why do you think we see them here?why do you think we see them giving out food in poor countries?
Ye, the American government only sends their troops in to die for oil, human lives are simply not worth it, unless they could make alot of money out of them and slavery is illigal so i guess the africans are shit out of luck!
@Senka73 You think the U.N is any better how about the Belgians huh? 10 Belgian soldiers killed and the Belgians did nothing people need to stop blaming the U.S and realize that their countries governments in most cases arent much better they are usually just better at hiding it than the U.S.
It's unfair to compare a nation of 10 million to a 300 million + economic and military superpower.
PS: Did we send soldiers to Somalia, yes. Did the US sent soldiers to Rwanda, no. Did we invade Iraq to get at that precious oil, no. Did Belgium do nothing in Rwanda, no, we sent 400 men, 10 never got home. Did America do nothing, yes.
But nobody did enough for Rwanda, including Belgium.
the biggest problem in america is not friends or interest, is that she has too many problems. I hate the european governments as much as I hate american government.
This just goes to show you how impotent the U.N. is without the support of the United States. Why didn't the U.N. military step in? Oh, I forgot, the United States military IS the U.N. military!
I dont mind the fact USA and western countries didnt interfier with Rwanda.....WHAT I HATE IS THEIR REJECTION OF CONSIDERABLE EVIDENCE WHICH SHOWED GENOCIDE WAS TAKING PLACE. sO USA NOT GOING OK....BUT ENOURAGING OTHERS NOT TO GO WAS CRIMINAL.....ALBRIGHT WHO IS A JEW SHOULD HAVE KNOWN BETTER
During the beginning of this part. I did not get what Albright was saying that it was unclear what was going on in Rwanda. It was very very clear to the rest of the world even though they didn't intervene they still knew what was happening. Sometimes why can't some people just say it and stop pretending (We are not interested in your country or your people)
albright BIGGEST WHORE SCUM BAG SLUT BURN IN HELL ALRBRIGHT JEW ASS SLUT, WHO WAS SAVED BY SERBS DURING 1940'S FROM NAZIS ONLY TO BOMB SERBIA 50 YEARS LATER!!! YOU WHORE IF THERE IS A GOD THIS BITCH WILL BURN IN HELL! HER AND CLITON AND RICHARD HOLLBROOK! DIE YOU ZIONIST PIGS!!!
good ole' Clinton administration - didn't learn anything about Somalia other than it was bad PR for them - the only thing President Clinton was pushing at the time was cum onto an interns dress - it's true the US doesn't have any friends - everyone hates us - we're trying to protect the people of Afghanistan and Iraq from savages with the same mentality as the Rwandan murderers and look at all negative and hateful sentiment - your damned either way
Don't speak of 'the conscious of the world', you corporate bastard. Your have no conscious unless you are receiving enough funding to have one. Where was your conscious when you bombed Yugoslavian civilians? Where was your conscious when you pardoned 141 financial criminals on your last day in office? Where was your conscious when your ill-advised decision making resulted in the bombing of a Sudanese pharmaceutical plant? Don't speak of conscious on behalf of those who actually have one.
Tutsi's are still being repressed and killed when they come forth to bring justice to those who so ruthlessly slaughtered their friends and family. Yet, as their is money to be made and the region has been 'stabilized' through fear and authoritarian control, now Western investments of over $700 million per year are being dumped into the government. Like all US/Western capitalist involvement, somehting will only be done so long as their is incentive - monetary incentive. Sadly, Tutsi's lacked it.
Clinton, and the rest of Government officials in developed world have no excuse for their level of passivity in Rwanda, nor the countless other similar situations. Motivated by money and power, they continuously stood/stand on the sidelines until the smoke has cleared, and then swoop in to to take what they may. As it stands now Rwanda, is a country that is highly invested in by the likes of many Western nations - including the World Bank and IMF - even though justice was never served.
Madeleine Albright "it was very unclear what was going on in Rwanda." bullshit! honestly? with all the satellite imaging and foreigners taking videos before they left? this comes to show how one cannot escpae from the truth, the lying bitch could have just said, I and the government simply did not care and we should change that.
I agreee wid u 100%. Wish I was in Rwanda then to sane hundreds of lives. I definitely wud have sold my lineage to slavery to save a million rwandans from falling. RIP to those slaughtered
@LUVFAMILIA , yea, and dude, just at the look of her, she looks like a crazy bitch, so I'm not sure if she will ever care...maybe she eve wanted this...god she's crazy...
@MrShadowtruth Romeo Dallaire received a lot of criticism (especially in Belgium) for his "role" in the genocide, but I disagree; I genuinely think he wanted to do everything he could, but the UN pretty much left him without anything.
It seems like he's doing well these days (after PTSD) and that he has a substantial support base in Canada, but I still don't think he deserves all of that criticism for what wasn't his fault.
It's logical to help others but isn't it always expected when people start shit in their own country that first their own government helps? It's clearly Arica never had good civil government should why not install one there so they can solve their own troubles.
No, what the UN needs is internal reform, along with more international agreement and cooperation when dealing with peacekeeping missions abroad, so the UN can actually hold the ability to operate peacekeeping missions successfully.
how inronic it is for them to say that america has no friends but america has interests and they have no interests in Rwanada. So what is America's interest in Iraq? I think after a decade plus we realize that Osama Bin Laden is not there. So what's the interest? lmao. Last time I checked 800, 000 lives would be more than enough interest.
FYI - In terms of international policy "Interest" does not mean interested or concerned but rather Interest = Assets. Jeeze, how clueless Americans really are is mind blowing. Iraq = Oil. Clear enough?
I am not clueless, but I am an American. I am an American who is certain that based upon your post I am quite a lot smarter than you could ever be. America is a nation of more than 300 million people, who the hell do you think you are to make such sweeping judgements about so many people whom you have never met and know nothing about.
I'm not that fond of the United States way of dealing with this & other genocides. BUT WHY DO PPL ALWAYS BLAME THE US? The U.N. is made out of plenty of our countries. And this world is also made out of other countries as well. What about THOSE countries? The WORLD turned their backs on Rwanda. Not just the United States. There is enough blame to go around.
Yes, because Americans are hacking civilians to death with machetes right and left...How DARE you cheapen the unimaginable horrors those people faced by making such a weak comparison.
If you have such strong feeling towards the US government then get off your ass and actually do something instead of just bitching like little pussy. If you think America is doing such a horrible job then become a human rights activists and lobby for a better future.I'm tired of hearing all these people whine about the gov't but never actively try and make america a better place.Honestly, you're pathetic, you hide behind your computer when if you have these views you should be on the front lines.
In my opinion those who can watch this documentary on this tragedy, and feel other than sympathetic to those who lost thier lives in the most brutal way are the same people who are able to commit crimes like these. The same people who hold very little regard for human life no matter what ethnicity, race, religion etc.
I wonder why black people kill black people and still blame it on whites!!! How can someone of another race convince me to kill my own brother? When white people kill white people, do they ever blame it on black people? And all those fuckin african dictators with Swiss bank accounts, ever heard of a european dictator with an african bank account? Africans should know that the rest of de world doesn't care. Africa should start loving and caring for its own people.
Good day to all of my fellow Christians, firstly my apology for being out of topic. I came here to remind you people that the judgment day has been starting already. I urge you my fellow Christians to depart from all form of unchristian conduct lest you be found not worthy to inter the kingdom of God in the Day of Execution. Please do not misinterpret my activity as spam; I did not do it for that purpose.
i find the part -Amerika has no interest in Rwanda- very shocking and it proofs that amerika only takes action when it has interest. That meens they dont give a F*k that all those people were killed!
It's all about public opinion... Without Somalia, the US might have stayed to help.. But they already lost 18 men in Somalia so they thought that that was enough blood spilled on African soil...
Indeed, they don't give a fuck about Africa. But we should have. If only there were mass protests against the genocide in Rwanda... Then maybe the US might have done something.. Or the UN.. Who knows..
I dont think the EU is so important in this context, as they are an economic organ and not so much an international one. But lets face it, the USA have a huge responsability towards the rest of the world. first of all, whatever happens in the states affects the rest of world as well, e.g. economic crisis. The same accounts with all other kinds of crisis. Being such a powerful country, with the world most powerful military, and basis spread all over the world, in germany, diego garcia(close to
I dont think the EU is really important in this context, as they are an economic organ and not so much an international one.
The USA have a huge responsibility in this world, lets face it. Whatever happens in the US affects the rest of the world as well, as such, they have responsabilities as well. As the strongest military force in the world with military basis in germany, Diego Garcia (close to the african coast) the middle east, there is no doubt that if anyone could have done somehting, its
That's true, USA didn't go to Rwanda for the same reason that they didn't go to Yugoslavia, there is not oil or nothing of value in there, just people killing people, so USA and UN do not give a shit
it is very sad that people can be that vicious. people in charge of this attrocities should be punished. But I also understand that in, the place that was occupied by the tutsi rebel hutus were also massacred by tutsi because there was no media and put all the blames on hutus. those hutus killed by tutsi are now called moderate hutu killed by hutu. genocide took place people should be punished for their crime.

@koyunbaba73 It is my understanding(but I am not too sure about this so plz let me know if I am wrong ok?) that the Americans got involved in Korea and Vietnam because at that time the US was absolutely terrified of Communism and the Domino Effect
ohwell94 9 months ago
@ohwell94 You are correct, but why was America afraid of communism?
koyunbaba73 9 months ago
@koyunbaba73 I think(?) at that time Communisum was the complete opposite of American beliefs no free speech no individual income etc They were see as cold mindless robots who existed only for the State and what they could contribute to the State Alot of countries fell to Communist rule at the end of WW2 but many countries thought Communisum was the way to go and joined forces with the USSR including countries the US needed to be friendly with
ohwell94 9 months ago
@koyunbaba73 so here was the largest country in the world the USSR who's system of gov't was a threat democracy slowing absorbing countries all over the world and now they are taking over in Asia! 1st Europe then S America now Asia and Cuba about 90 miles from US shores Seems they were surrounded by the enemy and some Communist were now in the US! (McCarthy era) If the USSR had enough control of countries it could be a threat to US interest also Sorry if it is confusing but that is how I see it
ohwell94 9 months ago
@ohwell94 I don't understand everything you said. Sorry. Communism was a threat to freedom and also a threat to life itself. In the 1930s, 7 million Ukrainians starved to death because of communism. Mao's communism murdered 70 million Chinese. That's just for starters. Americans saw communism spreading and fought to stop it. They did so for their own interests and for the interests of others.

@koyunbaba73 Hun you are probably right and I am so sorry if I confused you. Reading my own post confused the heck out of me lol!

FrankyTheFister 2 years ago
Clinton, and the rest of Government officials in developed world have no excuse for their level of passivity in Rwanda, nor the countless other similar situations. Motivated by money and power, they continuously stood/stand on the sidelines until the smoke has cleared, and then swoop in to to take what they may. As it stands now Rwanda, is a country that is highly invested in by the likes of many Western nations - including the World Bank and IMF - even though justice was never served.
