I had this on RicTic label ,bought it from Town Records Southport am sure. I had other RT records Yellow and Orange label ? it's so long ago , I had them all robbed from my flat in Leyland Rd along with early Atlantic soul and Stax ...Ric Tic.,sweet sweet sound of San Remo Strings. So good to be able to hear all of the best sounds from an Epoch Era....Eddy Floyd Knock on Wood black Atlantic label .....get in!
this was the 1st northern track that stuck in my head. started to go the torch on a friday night 1971 when i 1st heard it ..still sounds as nice KTF..
rictic2 you are correct of course that this isn't a Motown recording although Motown took over Golden World Studios when they had finanacial trouble, that owned the RicTic label and Motown continued to record at the RicTic/Golden World studio in Detroit, as Motown fans will know. Some RicTic recordings were also released on some Motown albums later too!
You are absulutely correct, as i'm aware this like a few others was originally Ric-Tic, but i have it on Tamla label 1971 & as graham mentions again correctly ''Golden'' was dropped. Great track!
Yes that's right, the "Golden" referred to what became Motown Studio B, the Golden World studio on the other side of Detroit, that Motown recorded at later in the 60's, along with Studio A (The Snakepit!) :-) in Hitsville, and the San Remo Strings sounded better than the longer title didn't it? :-) they backed up all the Ric Tic recordings too! Wonderful times, much missed.
San Remo is in Italy right? I've noticed that instead of these comments being in order of date and time, they are all over the place :-( but yes I did smile CHEWDwivTHEinCROWD, as I said before, they used to pay in the background on many a Motown track! They were very good I always thought, have you listened to my others by them on here? Thanks for your comment.
Actually... in the UK is IS a Motown pressing. A lot of the Ric-Tic titles came out on Motown here - I remember, because as a club DJ/MC I played them enough times!
BTW San Remo Golden Strings, also dropped the 'Golden' for the UK market!
This recording was included on a rare Motown album called "The San Remo Golden Strings - HUNGRY FOR LOVE" which came out in 1967 on the Gordy label. It was unusual because the cover featured a white couple in an embrace. It was re-released on CD along with the tracks from their second Gordy album called "Swing" in CD from Belgium.

Added this for 1971 on my series of playlists for each of the last 100 years!
An ongoing project, the lists are always expanding with ANY music from a given year, even themes, ads and cartoons. Please leave me some feedback.
Each artist has their own playlist if I can find at least a dozen uploads.
