  • Wasn't nearly as quick as I thought it was. This has the LS6 engine if I'm not mistaken. Seems just a hair bit faster than my '01 Z28. I'm sure this car would beat mine, but not by much.

  • @z71offroad95 actually the 03 Z06 was underrrated at 405hp..... actually about 425-430hp with most stock 03s pull'n around 365wrhp on dynos. the 01-02 were also underrated with about 405 at the crank pull'n 345-350whrp. check out wiki for it. Still one of the best engines GM has ever made.

  • @BEBNC1 I realize that, but for all intents and purposes it was 405hp on the badge and on the showroom floor. Thats just what I was trying to say. Most people dont know they were underrated. I can tell you right now mine is pretty stout.Even factory I was hanging with some cars I shouldnt have.

  • C5 Z06 is a 5.7 with 405hp, but 385 in an '01

    C6 Z06 has a 7.0 with 505hp.

    And a corvette is probably the best performance car for the value in the world!

They are having financial issues because of all the other branches under GM that aren't doing well on sales, do some research before you make a post like that. And what honda do you know of that is a ricer and makes 450whp? Oh yeah you don't. Cubes = better potential/reliability. a car that can do 180+mph is pretty impressive to me. add a H/C/I to the 7.0L and you have 5/600whp.

  • Oh and when your making 600whp on motor, you can add a S/C, turbo, nitrous, or a combo and make over 700, 800whp pretty RELIABLY. Reliability is the keyword here, something your turbo ricer running 30psi and putting down 250whp, lacks.

    You would generally be running at the limits of you motor if your running 600 at the tires. Add boost, and kaboom. A rod or piston will fail.

    The only time your going to be getting 800rwhp is if you have a fully built engine with a completely forged bottom end.

    Corvettes are notorious for needing the bottom end work for high HP numpers, anything over 600-650 on a stock block = catastrophic failure and rebuild!

  • Umm, are YOU high on glue?? I'm assuming when you read my "600whp on motor... then add boost" comment, you thought I would be talking about a bone stock bottom end? Come on I'm not retarded. I know that any built small block with high hp can still take f/i and/or n2o, but it all has to do with compression and what the weakest part of your drivetrain would be. Obviously if youre going to add 250+hp to a car, you are going to need other work besides h/c/i, unless you like to live life dangerously.

  • You'd be amazed at the amount of Youtubers that think 400hp base, +50 cold air, +50 exhaust, +50 chip, +50 from pullies / dist/ ignition = 600hp car :P Or if they do that to their 150hp civic it somehow equals 450rwhp.

    BTW, a local ran a 302 on 16psi on a DIY 70mm turbo in a 90 fox body, stock bottom end and mostly stock upper... lasted 8 months before the tranny went, and head gasket, amazing he didnt shoot a rod.

  • I'd like to think I am not the average YT user ;]. If I ever go f/i on my mustang I'd need to drop the compression a bit and would like to run about 450whp as my DD on 91 oct, but also be able to whoop up on some vettes. I was going to say the tranny is gonna need work before I finished reading. After my heads that is the next major thing I plan on doing, possibly swapping it for a c4 (I have knee issues). These engines when done right can run over and over; but abuse = shortened life span.

  • @Bigboomer I know your comment is old, but HotRod mag just did a feature on boosting a Junkyard LS 4.8L truck motor. Completely factory bottom end, bearings and rings included (they did double the gap of the factory top rings). They ran 26.8 psi into it and maxed out at 1200HP. They made over 40 pulls at 1000+HP and not only did the engine stay intact; but it didn't show any signs of failure upon disassembly.

  • A 2001 z06 has 400hp and weighs less then your mustang GT. And that 'huge' motor is underated from factory, which means you can easily achieve more power out of it with tuning, minor bolt-ons or you can go crazy and do major work to it. You can take any car and modify it to make it beat this vette, but if that vette was modified, you wont stand a chance. So your comment is ridiculous and pointless.

  • I have a 2002 Mustang GT and a 2003 Z06, and for anyone to even compare them is an idiot, they are two completely different cars, a camaro compared with a mustang is a better comparison, the Z06 is more of my weekend car while I use the GT more frequently during the week to eat up civics with fart cannons :). Maybe someday someone other than me will realize they are both great cars and its pointless for anyone to make up silly child names like "Rustang"........ seriously?

  • I just smoked a co-workers 2001 Z06 with full Borla exhaust and an intake in my pulley/exhaust 2003 Cobra. Wasn't a pretty outcome for the 2001 Z06. The older Z06's aren't all that impressive. Its the new C6's that are badass.

  • Mustangs suck big hairy dicks. From personal experience, i own a GT and i hate it. Its a 98 wit only 70k miles that were by my dad and he's a slow driver. I looked in to buying a miata with a faulty supercharger before and during the test drive. It could smoke the shit out of my GT and its just a 4 banger. Also, during the first drive, i took a sharp right turn at 55 where my GT only could ever handle it at about 45. Took it faster next time and wound up draging my GT out of the ditch wit a quad
