have a project mix + 8-channel octane pre-amp/converter i wish i would have just spent the money on a used avalon :) looking back i'd trade 16 decent pre's for 2 nice ones...i guess i'm just recommending saving up for some great gear ($2,000 - $4,000) before spending $800-1000 on good gear...more often than not it's easy to hear a thousand bucks :)...you guys are fun to watch stoned, keep it up
Just watched this and thought I might give you guys a little heads up.
The vintage 30s you get in Mesa cabinets are actually custom made for Mesa from the Celestion factory, and have a slightly darker sound which a lot of people like more than the harshness you can get out of regular vintage 30s.
Also, the speakers are rated at 70 watts each instead of 60 watts, making the cabinet 280 watts in total.
Look on the back of your cabinet and it should say 280 watts - at least, my Stiletto does.
I really suggest looking up the Mojave Audio MA-200.
Very versatile and smooth with great characteristics.
Also with that price range I would suggest getting other audio interfaces such as the Digi 003 for Protools user or the Apogee Ensemble for Logic and maybe the audio interfaces from RME
Profire 2626 is a great interface at that level. Great ad/da conversion. I had the profire 610 which has the same conversion and was very happy. Traded for an Elven Rack, not quite as good da conversion.
cool stuff. was gonna say anyway, u guys should show pics when u talk about stuff. its weird not seeing what ur talking about. other than that, fucking WIN.
i have had EMG's in my Dean USA V before, (81, and a 85 came with it) it just wasn't what i was looking for, i now have SD blackouts in it, the guitar sounds alot more real and from ex I think that EMG's sound like absolute shit for clean tones. If you like the aggressiveness of an EMG but want a better clean check out the SD blackouts.
Hell fucking yes! Thats all i use, i have SD blackouts in a Dean USA V, and in a Peavey Signature EX i have a Dimarzio Mojo in the Bridge and a SD Pearly Gates in the neck and a SD Dimebucker and a 59 in my Dean Razor V
You can get two more inputs on the Profire with the S/PDIF inputs that will give you a total of 26 inputs. thus the name Profire "2626"

the octane pres are not anything special at all
mcparham 1 year ago
@mcparham They may not be special but they are better than most of the preamp's you'll find in interfaces under the price of ~$1,000.

Yes, I thought that was true just didn't have any confirmation. And yeah my Stiletto is rated at 280 watts.

Good stuff.
That is why everyone loves Mesa cabinets! :)

Yeah I wouldn't have any other cab than a Mesa. They're build quality is fantastic, they sound great, and Mesa has great customer service.
I'd like to own both the Stiletto cab and the Rectifier Standard cab, but I don't have the room for both.
LimitlessStudios 2 years ago
Yeh I think I have someone who wants to buy my Stiletto so I might sell it and buy a Rectifier cab instead.
I'd have to try one first and make sure I like it though because I really like my Stiletto.
I'll post some recordings I did with it yesterday on your forum.
DylanTSL 2 years ago
Yeah I really don't think you can go wrong with either cab.
I'll be sure to check out your clips.
