i have never really been exposed to this "hyperflexion" stuff, so excuse me if i sound rude or ignorant but i truely do not mean to come of this way, but i am just wondering how it negatively effects the horse and what is wrong with it? and how you can tell if its hyperflexion or if the horse is just on the bit, or if those are the same thing?

I see a horse that finally uses its back... It walks on four legs and has it's rearlegs functioning as the 'engine' of his body. I train my horse the same way and according to my horses' physical therapist and chiropractor my horse is in excellent shape with no damage to his neck, back or legs. He is a well known appearance to level 3 dressage competitions around the country and also a frequent winner of them. My horse has improved by hyperflexion. Go Anky!
Please take a look at the right literature of riding horses. I warmly recommend you books of Philippe Karl, Anja Beran and other real classical riders. And please read the book of Xenophon. Then you will really know what horse riding is.

If she would let a sportshorse like this go his way it would be very dangerous for rider, horse and anyone around. These horses are not comparable to any type of other horses since the purpose of breeding top level Dutch Warmbloods is to breed a horse that is unridable for normal level riders. Not all horses are the same...

@Karyn64 I'm saying he's a hothead based on his body language. My competition horse tenses up exactly the same way... Not because there's anything physically wrong with him, but because he needs to ventilate his energy. I ride him without a saddle and bridle aswel, and he reacts the exact same way as he does while riding dressage. I let him go his own way at that point. But some circumstances are not suitable to let the horse ventilate his energy. At this point that would be extremely dangerous.
@LouTaat This is tension created by her leaning back on the curb and pulling that poor horse into such an unnatural position with such force. He is broke at the third, on the forehand, hind end being dragged along, having trouble breathing, an the list goes on as to why she is making a very tense nervous hourse. This is just abuse. There is nothing that says *just controling a hot horse*. He is not ventilating his energy. He wants relief.

I agree this horse does look in pain and I don't think it is right, but there was a horse at my barn for training once and every time u got on her she would overbend and practically put her nose to her chest. The rider would have very loose reins and she would still do it. It is very slow fixing process and I do think training a horse to be like that is wrong
WOW, you ppl are either dumb or can't read! the video is called "training"," training is not generally pretty to look at at all I would much rather see a "hot" horse that is "overbent," than I would see a "lame" hunter that has been drugged up or had nerves cut to perform. how many of you could even stay on that horse let alone ride?? Ive seen many more Barrel, jumpers. eventing horses that have permanent injuries, than I have Dressage horses!

Id like to slap her. I love dressage and thats what I show in, but this is not what dressage is suppose to be. This is just awful. Classic dressage dose not push the horse to feel so confined. Its to bad that such a historic and foundational sport in the horse world has to be soiled in such a way. its really too bad.

I could be wrong or tight, it may or may not be irritated, and you could be right or wrong, it could be or not be discomfort, but it also could be that the horse is unbalanced. That is another indication of tail swishing.
Don't be so critical...there are many, many good things going on here. You can tell from the walk at the end, and the energy along with the diminishing tension in the horse's back at the end. There are so many, many ignorant (not stupid, but ignorant) people who criticize and judge others without the adequate understanding of the different schools of training, and the GOAL of having a relaxed back while maintaining incredible brilliance.
She can't even ride pretty, her hands and legs are all over the place! She's a sack of potatoes on top of that horse. I wish someone would try rollkür on her so she could feel how it is!

urghh this is sad to watch. i just watched reiner klimke's 1984 gold medal winning dressage test and the difference is so profound! His horse was so happy, willing and free with his movement, ankys horse looks so uncomfortable just to look at!
That horse is an absolute saint for not tossing off that rider and then kicking her. That poor horse....my neck feels sore just watching. How horrible that someone would treat an animal that way for fame and money.

oh and this horse isnt in pain. if he was. hed be flicking his tail, but hes not, hes flicking it to the movement meaning hes enjoying himself.. and hed be protesting by trying to stick his head up.. which hes not doing either.
the only reason why he DOESN'T stick his head up is because he has TWO BIT'S in his mouth (one is a CURB), and the rider has a death grip on the reins.

Ich bin auch dressurreiter gehe auch auf turniere aber sowas ist abscheulich.
Das hat nichts mehr mit klassischem dressurreiten zu tun das ist einfach nur TIERQUÄLEREI!
Hat die alte noch nie was davon gehört das man ein pferd nicht vor und nicht hinter der senkrechten reitet?
Und sowas nennt sich Pferdefreund! Pfui!
Durch sowas bekommt die dressurreiterei einen stempel für die ewigkeit!

These horses are not comparable to any type of other horses since the purpose of breeding top level Dutch Warmbloods is to breed a horse that is unridable for normal level riders. @LouTaat I have to disagree completely. She is causing the tension in this horse. It has nothing to do with breed. My nice calm QH would act like the same if I rode him as she is riding this horse. I do know about WBs and have ridden and owned. Sorry if all I see is you making excuses for crappy abusive riding. Are you saying he is a *hothead* simpley based on his breed??

@Karyn64 I'm saying he's a hothead based on his body language. My competition horse tenses up exactly the same way... Not because there's anything physically wrong with him, but because he needs to ventilate his energy. I ride him without a saddle and bridle aswel, and he reacts the exact same way as he does while riding dressage. I let him go his own way at that point. But some circumstances are not suitable to let the horse ventilate his energy. At this point that would be extremely dangerous.

@LouTaat This is tension created by her leaning back on the curb and pulling that poor horse into such an unnatural position with such force. He is broke at the third, on the forehand, hind end being dragged along, having trouble breathing, an the list goes on as to why she is making a very tense nervous hourse. This is just abuse. There is nothing that says *just controling a hot horse*. He is not ventilating his energy. He wants relief.

@LouTaat If all you see is *hothead* here you are by far in the minority. How do youeven know for a fact he is a *hothead*? Just by his breed? Is that alll your basing that on?? I have 46 years ridding and training and this is tension created by an abusive rider and I don't think anything will ever make me see it as anything else. Anky is a monster to her horses and doesn't deserve the priviledge of riding them.

I agree this horse does look in pain and I don't think it is right, but there was a horse at my barn for training once and every time u got on her she would overbend and practically put her nose to her chest. The rider would have very loose reins and she would still do it. It is very slow fixing process and I do think training a horse to be like that is wrong

WOW, you ppl are either dumb or can't read! the video is called "training"," training is not generally pretty to look at at all I would much rather see a "hot" horse that is "overbent," than I would see a "lame" hunter that has been drugged up or had nerves cut to perform. how many of you could even stay on that horse let alone ride?? Ive seen many more Barrel, jumpers. eventing horses that have permanent injuries, than I have Dressage horses!

Id like to slap her. I love dressage and thats what I show in, but this is not what dressage is suppose to be. This is just awful. Classic dressage dose not push the horse to feel so confined. Its to bad that such a historic and foundational sport in the horse world has to be soiled in such a way. its really too bad.

I could be wrong or tight, it may or may not be irritated, and you could be right or wrong, it could be or not be discomfort, but it also could be that the horse is unbalanced. That is another indication of tail swishing.

Don't be so critical...there are many, many good things going on here. You can tell from the walk at the end, and the energy along with the diminishing tension in the horse's back at the end. There are so many, many ignorant (not stupid, but ignorant) people who criticize and judge others without the adequate understanding of the different schools of training, and the GOAL of having a relaxed back while maintaining incredible brilliance.

urghh this is sad to watch. i just watched reiner klimke's 1984 gold medal winning dressage test and the difference is so profound! His horse was so happy, willing and free with his movement, ankys horse looks so uncomfortable just to look at!

Unendlich schönes Tier, aber das was sie da tut... einfach nur widerlich. Und ich frage mich, wer sowas schön finden kann. Sie kommt damit nur weiter, weil sich alles nur nach Leistung richtet. Das hat nichts mehr mit reiten zutun. Was gibt es schöneres als einen Ausritt am langen Zügel?

oh and this horse isnt in pain. if he was. hed be flicking his tail, but hes not, hes flicking it to the movement meaning hes enjoying himself.. and hed be protesting by trying to stick his head up.. which hes not doing either.

the only reason why he DOESN'T stick his head up is because he has TWO BIT'S in his mouth (one is a CURB), and the rider has a death grip on the reins.
