@KendallMcGee Film Score composer, sadly i dont think he could make it in the actual composing world without a movie :/ he borrows to nearly stealing from every other composer just to make a film score, so the correct term is "film composer" ;)
This cue is so powerful it was able to put my girlfriend (who despises orchestral music) to absolute tears. She made me listen to it twice (not that I would EVER complain). That is the strength, power, and beauty of "THE MAESTRO" John Williams' work. I seriously doubt there will ever be another film composer in my lifetime that can ever achieve the level of absolute greatness that he achieves with each score. Keep them coming John. We can't wait to see what you'll blow us away with next.
The ending of this score is spectacular, it keeps building and building until the climax, which is a very heroic moment. To me, it reminds me more than anything else I have heard of the Liebestod from Wagner's Tristan und Isolde. A strange comparison, but it has that element of a very powerful emotional release. The energy output is just extraordinary without being overwhelming.
Yes, my favorite part of the E.T. soundtrack (and of any John Williams score, without a doubt!), without all of the other stuff tacked on! Thanks for posting this!

6:24 is the BEST part of this piece. I'm glad I get to play to this masterpiece with the band every week as part of the marching knights.

If this hadn't won Best Score at the Oscars, I would've considered it the WORST snub of all time.

one of the emotional pieces of the film...without this score the film is lost...why cant any soundtracks be like this these days
4516232 3 years ago 3
Because people are afraid to be different these days. If you make a movie like everybody else, you can't fail. You don't succeed, but you don't fail.
The music is always cut from the same cloth. Nobody has any talent and they just copy each other.
