  • I had a dream before that John Williams was playing this song just for me. *sigh* I hate dreams they always lead me on. :'(

  • Oh God... I cannot watch this scene without crying like a baby. The music is what makes me so emotional. Damn you John Williams.

  • @Bash316 *uncontrollable sobs*

  • The most emotive score that's ever been written.

  • 6:24 is the BEST part of this piece. I'm glad I get to play to this masterpiece with the band every week as part of the marching knights.

  • If this hadn't won Best Score at the Oscars, I would've considered it the WORST snub of all time.

  • *elliot clears branches from the radar

    *spaceship comes & lands

    e.t. "home"

gerty "stop the car mom! theyre over there! theyre over there!"

    *gerty runs towards e.t.

gerty "i just wanted to say, goodbye"

  • michael "he doesnt know goodbye' e.t. "be good" gerty "yes" *gerty kisses e.t. on the nose *michael pets e.t. e.t. "thank you" michael "your welcome" e.t. to elliot "come" elliot "stay" e.t. "ouch" elliot "ouch" *they hug *elliot steps back *e.t. raises his finger to elliots forehead and lights it e.t. "ill be right here" elliot "goodbye" *e.t. picks up flowers and goes into the spaceship, when it zooms it leaves a rainbow behind the end(; <3
  • This is a fucking masterpiece of music score. John Williams at his very best !

  • at exactly 4:30 i felt tingers from my arms to my feet n toes haha theyre still tingling....

  • good bye E.T. D,:

  • 3:12 - 3:33..... <3 words can't even describe the emotion at that moment...

  • It makes me so happy to know that there are thousands of people that love this music as much as I do!

  • John Williams is one the best composer's of our time

  • @KendallMcGee Film Score composer, sadly i dont think he could make it in the actual composing world without a movie :/ he borrows to nearly stealing from every other composer just to make a film score, so the correct term is "film composer" ;)

  • No doubt, the best film score ever. Fosho.

  • Well, now that my tear ducts are completely empty, I can get on with my night.

  • E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial is my personal favorite movie, I love the film

  • I can definitely hear some Mahlerian references. AWESOME

  • This should be the #1 best score of all time.

  • Master, John Williams! No doubt!

  • This cue is so powerful it was able to put my girlfriend (who despises orchestral music) to absolute tears. She made me listen to it twice (not that I would EVER complain). That is the strength, power, and beauty of "THE MAESTRO" John Williams' work. I seriously doubt there will ever be another film composer in my lifetime that can ever achieve the level of absolute greatness that he achieves with each score. Keep them coming John. We can't wait to see what you'll blow us away with next.

  • ONE OF THE BEST EFFIN SCORES EVER.

  • The ending of this score is spectacular, it keeps building and building until the climax, which is a very heroic moment. To me, it reminds me more than anything else I have heard of the Liebestod from Wagner's Tristan und Isolde. A strange comparison, but it has that element of a very powerful emotional release. The energy output is just extraordinary without being overwhelming.

  • Whenever I hear 6:15 now, I always think of the Simpsons

  • one of the best movies of all time, john williams knows what hes doing in every single movie he composes

  • I can't listen to the end of this song without tearing up. E.T. is my all time favorite movie and always will be! =)

  • Yes, my favorite part of the E.T. soundtrack (and of any John Williams score, without a doubt!), without all of the other stuff tacked on! Thanks for posting this!

  • Aww..i will never forget that movie:)

  • one of the emotional pieces of the film...without this score the film is lost...why cant any soundtracks be like this these days

  • Because people are afraid to be different these days. If you make a movie like everybody else, you can't fail. You don't succeed, but you don't fail.

The music is always cut from the same cloth. Nobody has any talent and they just copy each other.

  • The ending to E.T. is still tear jerking to this day.

  • thanks for posting :)

  • John Williams is a Genius!
