Meaner than Rod Stewart's "Maggie May" and "Stay with Me." Quite to the point, Eric! Ah, juvenile arguments! My older brother and I had an Animals' album. We used to argue about who owned which songs. One day, he said, "You can have, 'I'm Mad.'"
ain't nobody can play a Vox Continental better then Alan Price -except Ray Manzarek-Listen to Alan stutter the keys and build it up--These organs had wooden keys--!!!
@Slaaptekort a classic blues tune!!! no one can sing this one like Eric, and anyone who thinks they can, it will make me mad, like Sonny Liston and Cassius Clay!!!!
Your right about the doors comparison. Watch Shindig Goes to London Pt. 1. Eric is doing a version of inside looking out which reminded me of the Jim persona
I forgot about this song. Seen them perform it in concert in 66. One of those songs much better live. Gin House Blues is another that would fall into that category.
Along with the Pretty Things , The Animals were the only British band that didn't place a poor second when covering masters like John Lee Hooker. This version absolutely cooks.
@Skwinkster I responeded so quick to your reply cuz your comment means you love epic music like I do The animals rule so i tip my hat too you for watchin this epic vid :) Most of the time when people reply to old comments it folks who wanna "slap" you for what you say put you didnt & I respect that thanks
The only reason Eric Burdon wasn't HUGE in America was that he was short, homely and slightly unkempt. He didn't have that cutsie Paul McCartney, Mick Jagger, Herman's Hermits, Davey Jones look that was popular with the teens of that era. But he DID have something special - his singing was second to none.
@unrealvariety and are you god to be saying that they will go to hell? word to the wise, if you want to counter-argue, at least make sure your argument isn't illogical. thanks, sweetie
@unrealvariety dude you're a dumbass, clearly I'm being figurative. Do you actually think I have built an altar for Eric Burdon in my living room complete with candles and animal sacrifices, and worship it every night and pray to Eric Burdon? When I see a shocking video, I don't say "OH MY FUCKING ERIC BURDON!"
My god, lighten up. you're giving religious people a bad name.
@unrealvariety Man you just gotta love the Bible thumpers.Imagine there surprise when they find out that thers is NO HELL and NO DEVIL. It was all a lie to scare people to get in line ...or else!
If there was to be a hell it probably is part of Fox news.

@psychedelicbluesdiva I think Eric was the best singer and the Animals were the best band during that era-I think Eric and War were really great too- doin cool original stuff- unlike so many others. Eric Burdon was naturally cool - not a put-on showman like Mick Jagger or John Lennon for that matter
Same here Yardird68! I bought the CD and pushed through looking for this song, and it wasn't there. This song has echoed in my mind for 30 years, and finally just now I got to hear it again! So happy I decided to cruise YouTube tonight! Yay!
Love this sooooooo much!! Eric had such an awesome voice for the blues!! I have this on a very very scratchy "Best of the Animals" LP. So I bought the same on CD ......but ........."I 'm Mad"..........because this awesome song wasn't included !!!!!
OMG...this takes me right back to my teen years. eric burden was the best of the brits..or one of the best for sure. i still have this album. i'm gonna dig it out.

I was born in the farm house that was poor. No money, no food, four cows and a horse.
When I was young, my father drink all his money, he and his father gave all the sweeties to someone else who is late now.
I like Eric and The Animals, if you don’t like you don’t like
Cheers!

@MrWeedgamer Not really. Since The Animals got their sound from Muddy Waters and Bo Diddley for this song. Look up "I'm a man" and "Mannish Boy."

I had a friend one time, at least I thought he was my friend
For he came to me, said "I ain't got no place to go"
I said "take it easy man, you can come home to my house,
I'll get you a pillow where you can rest your head"
Took him home with me, let him in my house,
Let him drive my Cadillac that I could not afford
When I found out he'd been messin' around with my baby

I might drown you, I might shoot you
