You need a bigger engine to keep that thing going. You're not hovering so much as just floating on the pontoon created by the air blowing in the tarp. You have a lot of drag in the water like that. There shouldn't be nearly that much disturbance of the water. That "burping" effect is proof. I do love your choice of music, though!

The small one is actually a hovercraft. The large one looks more like an inflatable raft with holes in the bottom and motor/fan to replace the air lost through the holes. It's just floating in the water based on buoyancy like a boat, not really floating on cushion of air.

I love all the idiots that start screaming "It's not a hovercraft! It's not hovering above the water!" Do your homework and learn that a hovercraft merely sits on top a cushion of air which is held in place by the skirt, which is exactly what this thing is doing.

True, but I'm not so sure it's really sitting on TOP of the cushion of air. It rather looks like the motor is pushing enough air to keep that huge "skirt" inflated. It it where actually resting upon the air cushion, it would hover on land also, even smoother than on water. Right now it acts EXACTLY like you would expect an air mattress with plywood attatched to act.

When you lean to one side, more air spills out the other. That gives mild propulsion. When trying to land on the shore again, you kept drifting back out. This was because you were leaning away from the shore, so it was blowing you away from it.

Thats more of a boat than a hovercraft. The reason it's floating is because the plastic skirt is filled with air and that is making it incredibly bouyant. If it was a hovercraft he wouldn't have had to push it into the water, it would have just slid down the hill. Since it didn't, that means there wasn't a film of air under the craft, which makes it a raft, not a hovercraft.

No while floating the "hovercraft" touches the water and floats because the air in is makes the whole thing lighter than the water. Hovering means theres a thin film of air constantly flowing from the middle of the hovercraft to the sides to escape.
