@HIM4l1fe There is a shortage of people on the streets, Yes they can answer the call, but the problem comes when emergencey serveces are sent out to pranks, meaning that one car or more that had to go to some stupid little twat with nothing better to do can't go to the robberry or the murder, rape, crash etc.
Chances are that one day you will call 999 when you actually need the emergency services, you'd better hope that when you do call 999 somebody is there to answer you and that you can get through and some pranker didn't call before you.
I wish though 112 was not an emergency number. my daughter always presses that on every phone she gets her hands on (now aged 2) mobile or land. Think I have had to try and explain we are sorry and error in over 6 languages now as same number is used all over Europe. God knows why babies like to press 112.
@Matthuffy I get that with my little nephew. When he was 2 he loved to press 112 or 999. We started placing the phone where he can never get hold off and never leave it next to him. We were so embrassed to say sorry little baby pressed the lines. I cant believe these people have the nerve to call 999 and waste time. Get a life losers
We had one of these in Bolton in Winter. A woman called the police up because something was ''Doing her head in'' Her cat was playing with some string.
@TheJoyOfToast It was on a episode of 'Coppers' you can view it by clicking on tv shows at the top and in the documentries section :) hope this helped
@redplague I assume they try to get their names or addresses so they can pass them on - or keep them on record to see if they keep calling so they can prosecute.

It is great how patient the receivers are.

@AviBaby18 Too patient, he should have hung up on 1:30 when the guy admitted it wasn't an emergency. A lot of these operators need better training.
