  • hi davie, just a wee update, tied a dozen, and was fishing lough erne on monday, caught 4 x brown trout, biggest just over 2 pounds, they really hammered the fly, whot a buzz, brilliant, happy wrappings, davey, antrim. ps they all went back alive.

    I would have to say that is a great looking fly and the colors are great .. Will have to tie a few up and see how the panfish are here like them.

    What would you sub for the blue jay feathers?? It is hard here to find them.

  • Brilliant tying! Watched with amazement as one material after another was added! All those materials in the last 2 mm without the thread falling off the eye! I've seen you do it before with other patterns, but this ............!!!!!!!

    I could recommend a few my newest one is by Patsy Deery called Irish Mayflies/ A fly-fishers guide, next Flies of Ireland by Peter O'Reilly and one of the best known is Irish Trout & Salmon Flies by E.J.Malone you will find all the info you could every want in these books on Irish flies...
