i am having problems with abondanded buildings due to commute times, i put subway stations and good road connections, the roads are green and not heavily congested, i have my residential in one city and then industrial and commercial in adjacent cities with subway and monorail connections to each and the buildings are still going abandoned. i tried adding highways and that did not help. city size is around 300,000

You have to have some residential in close proximaties to your residential and industrial. Though you have low traffic, there is still a long commute between the two points.

You should use subway, el rail and monorail to allow sims to go to work quickly. Also put a meeting point for all forms of mass transit in the city centre.
