love pits, they are the best!! I have had a pit pull for 3 years now, and she is the most loving dog i have ever seen. She is also protective. However, for those of you that think pits are dangerous, maybe you should think that their owners are the dangerous ones. I have 2 pitbulls they are one of the most loyal dogs! They may seem mean until they get to know and trust you. My dogs don't like anyone coming over but once they are in the house and they see that those people are not a threat then they get to loving on you. pit bulls are really good dogs and when they see a threat they will get defensive. i love my dogs and i tell people all the time not to be scared they wont hurt you and they wont. these dogs try to protect those they love <3 pit bulls <3
i begged my mom to get me a pitbull since i was 5 but when i was 12 my 15 yr old brother bought a pitbull who had been trained to fight.(he didnt buy it for fighting)my bro brought it to the backyard where our family was having a bbq n then my 4 yrold cousins walked up to it and started playing with him ever since that day my mom has thought different about pitbulls. the dog ripper still lives as a pet with us and is the best dog ever

LOl it only took him a couple weeks to realize he was a pitbull but my dad is a sucker for puppies. We still have him now he is three years old. He changed my parents mind about pitbulls. One day I was walking my pit, and I saw a collie attacking this little kid I ran over to him and ,y dog scared the collie away the kid was ok, but they found out the collie was a mix, and on the news that night I'm HUGE letters PITBULL MIX ATTACKS YOUNG TODDLER. That dog had no pitbull blood in it but they insisted it did. I mean really!? I was walking down the street when a tiny rat of a dog trotted out, I thought it would just bark at me so I just kept walking... the thing bit me on the ankle. Gorgeous well kept big dogs are not a threat, shitty things that are treated like toys are.
I was bitten by a pitbull mix 4 years ago. I don't hold anything against the breed. My family has owned pit bulls and pit bull mixes since I was very little. The are very nice dogs and in most cases aren't agressive unless made to be.

I am by no means saying all of one breed is bad. BUT I think some breeds just need special attention. Maybe a person who knows the breed and knows the signs of a aggressive dog. A person who can handle the breed when they do out of no where get aggressive. We had a Chow when I was a kid. I was attacked by that dog he tried to kill me. I think the reason it happened was the breed is common for being aggressive and we had no idea. We should have been told so we could deal with the correctly.
@rjaffeux All breeds are different and need different levels of care and training, maybe next time tell your parents to actually do some research before getting a dog. This is why so many dogs attack people because the owners fail at raising/training it correctly. I was attacked by a pit bull when I was a kid. A pit bull that was CHAINED up in someones backyard. No grass to rest on.. just dirt. Owners make these dogs mean. You cant expect a dog to be social if you don't expose them to humans. I treaded on the only territory that poor pooch knew and he was afraid. He didn't recognize my scent and he wasnt used to human contact.

Funny, cops here made my friend put down her dog after it saved her life. The dog was kind enough to wait till the idiot was trying to break into the windows before grabbing him by the throat and pinning him till cops arrive. Note how I said pinned, and not ripped out. He even let go upon command.

The old time dogmen who made this breed what it is did not breed unstable/uncontrollable pit dogs.. In the late1800's to the late 1900's these were the most popular and favored dog and for many reasons. Attacks by pitbull were almost unheard of back then.

pitbulls are amazing, they only have a bad view because of how certain people raise them, ban the people not the dogs, My pit protects me everywhere i go and when people are petting him in the streets they ask what breed he is and i tell them and there shocked at how lovely he is, there beautiful animals.
i was in a poor neighborhood where almost everyone had untrained pitbulls for protection. I stayed there with some family who had 3 amazing pitbulls, when people walked be the looked at me like i was crazy because i was rolling around in the grass with them. they are the best dogs that anyone can ask for <3 people just need to look past their reputation as fight dogs

I don't own a pit but I love the breed and have grown up with dogs my whole life (Parents own a dog boarding kennel) As oldchevy stated, the ones that attack were either brought up wrongly or the people attacked, sparked something primal in the animal.

I feel for you man I got bitten when I was three by a old dog. I went to the hospital because my dad demanded I got shots and stuff which I hated to prevent me getting anything from the dog. It was an old black Labrador. And the dog had bitten me because I had moved my leg and it shocked him. Now I'm careful with dogs under my feet and I don't make sudden movements.

They seem vicious because of the media, with pitbulls usually the choice dogs for dog fights it makes them out to be vicious when all in all, ANY dog can be vicious, it's just how you raise it. If u raise a pit bull, beating it, then it will be aggresive(any dog would be) but if you brought it into a loving home, than it can be one of the most loving dogs, seemingly harmless.

Quebec man may lose arm after pitbull attack
A 27-year-old Gatineau man could lose an arm after being attacked by HIS OWN PITBULLS on Sunday morning.
Police responded to a call and found the victim on the landing outside his second-floor apartment, with his arm and leg badly hurt.
Police couldn't get to the victim because one of the dogs was outside the residence. That dog was shot,
Police said he may lose that arm.

My dad used to hate pitbulls until I brought a 3 month pitbull puppy home and told him it was a lab mix. LOl it only took him a couple weeks to realize he was a pitbull but my dad is a sucker for puppies. We still have him now he is three years old. He changed my parents mind about pitbulls. He is so sweet and loving.

I was attacked by a pitbull 3 years ago, I was in the Emergency room for 3 days. I had a torn up arms and a torn up leg. But im sure that wouldnt probely have happend if the owner hadnt neglected him, pits arnt bad dogs if anything, we are the ones to blame.

One day I was walking my pit, and I saw a collie attacking this little kid I ran over to him and ,y dog scared the collie away the kid was ok, but they found out the collie was a mix, and on the news that night I'm HUGE letters PITBULL MIX ATTACKS YOUNG TODDLER. I am by no means saying all of one breed is bad. BUT I think some breeds just need special attention. Maybe a person who knows the breed and knows the signs of a aggressive dog. A person who can handle the breed when they do out of no where get aggressive. We had a Chow when I was a kid. I was attacked by that dog he tried to kill me. I think the reason it happened was the breed is common for being aggressive and we had no idea. We should have been told so we could deal with the correctly.

This is why so many dogs attack people because the owners fail at raising/training it correctly. I've owned and bred these breeds that people claim to be 'dangerous' and the only time they've showed any aggression is when they've been protecting me.

I was attacked by a pit bull when I was a kid. A pit bull that was CHAINED up in someones backyard. No grass to rest on.. just dirt. Owners make these dogs mean. You cant expect a dog to be social if you don't expose them to humans. I treaded on the only territory that poor pooch knew and he was afraid. He didn't recognize my scent and he wasnt used to human contact.

Funny, cops here made my friend put down her dog after it saved her life. The dog was kind enough to wait till the idiot was trying to break into the windows before grabbing him by the throat and pinning him till cops arrive. Note how I said pinned, and not ripped out. He even let go upon command.

The old time dogmen who made this breed what it is did not breed unstable/uncontrollable pit dogs.. In the late1800's to the late 1900's these were the most popular and favored dog and for many reasons. Attacks by pitbull were almost unheard of back then.

The group of kids had a dog... it was a pitbull. The producers of the show auditioned several other breeds before settling on the pitty. i was in a poor neighborhood where almost everyone had untrained pitbulls for protection. I stayed there with some family who had 3 amazing pitbulls, when people walked be the looked at me like i was crazy because i was rolling around in the grass with them. they are the best dogs that anyone can ask for <3 people just need to look past their reputation as fight dogs

I feel for you man I got bitten when I was three by a old dog. I went to the hospital because my dad demanded I got shots and stuff which I hated to prevent me getting anything from the dog. It was an old black Labrador. And the dog had bitten me because I had moved my leg and it shocked him. Now I'm careful with dogs under my feet and I don't make sudden movements.

Pitbulls aren't vicious. They seem vicious because of the media, with pitbulls usually the choice dogs for dog fights it makes them out to be vicious when all in all, ANY dog can be vicious, it's just how you raise it. If u raise a pit bull, beating it, then it will be aggresive(any dog would be) but if you brought it into a loving home, than it can be one of the most loving dogs, seemingly harmless.
