PS, if it werent for this project , over 10,000 additional people would have been unemployed 3 years sooner. While many where getting laid off in Nevada in record numbers, MGM, even on the verge of bankruptcy moved forward with this project and kept many of us in our homes. Some say they could have done other things with $10 Bil. Well, they invested their money and foriegn money back into our community and kept my family from living in the streets. I think they did well with their money!
This was a 10 year project completed in just over 3 years, the largest privately funded project in US history. It set new standards for future construction throughout the world. Every inch of this property is as green as it gets. The finest architects, engineers and craftmen came together and made this possible. 9 people lost their lives during construction. I worked on many projects in NYC & Chicago. My 3 years working there could never be matched! The people of Las Vegas should be proud!
They could have done better things with that money. They say that here in Vegas, our economy is one of the worst. But then they go a build city center and that mall that most of the citizens of Vegas can't even shop in, let alone live in City Center. Oh and by the way, City Center, does nothing for the View of the strip, it add's nothing but ugly, and dark looking buildings.
@LastBattle2006 It seems Las Vegas is trying to boost tourism with the City Center. And I disagree about it's poor looks, I think the place is beautiful. All good art is controversial, us disagreeing helps to make it great.
@halfthrottle now that city center is lit up, it does look nice at night, at the time i wrote this from my view point, it was dark at night, and not lit. i guess they were not done yet. However, I still believe they could have done something better. A theme park or something else that will attract tourist, and residents. I hear they wanot to make an indoor/outdoor water park called "Las Vegas Wet" now that is a good idea! we need one here in the desert.

@LastBattle2006 THEY STARTED COSTRUCTION IN LATE 07... WHEN THINGS WERE STILL GOOD... AND THE ECHELON WICH WAS GONNA BE BIGGER THAN CITY CENTER DID GET PUT ON HOLD UNTILL THINGS GET BETTER.... SO THAT SHOWS U KNOW NOTHING OF WHAT U SAY.. HAHA..... MORON
@jmusmc85 WELL LIKE I SAID BEFORE I MUST HAVE MISSED THAT MEMO. AND IN ENGLISH CLASS I WAS PROBLY ABSENT THE DAY THEY TAUGHT US THAT, LAST TIME I HERD AN EXCLAMATION (!) MARK AT THE END OF A SENTENCE MENT I WAS SCREAMING. SO AGAIN SORRY FOR MISSING OUT ON THAT IMPORTANT PIECE OF INFORMATION IN SCHOOL AND ONLINE LOL
@ASPAustralia Well 10 billion dollars not lives... If 10 billion people died in Las Vegas in 2007, well then the population of the Earth would be somewhere around negative 4 billion, and that would be bad for everybody.
Halfthrottle Thanks.. I Love Your Work "Time Can Erase Memories Of A Face, A Body, But Never Erase Memories Of People Who Knew How To Make Small Moments, Great Moments."
