I remember as well as the web slinging and wall climbing, Spiderman had an extra super power in this series. The power of 'basic martial arts'. I wish this title sequence was 60 minutes long. I'd prefer that to watching an actual episode.
I actually watched this show. IIRC, Spiderman could only shoot his webs once per use. After that, he had to go back to the lab and mix up some more. Incredibly lame show.
Too bad this show never actually felt like a spiderman comic, i think that the new spiderman movies are the best as they really depict what a real life spiderman would be like.
the web shooter is so stupid. why would spiderman have all those powers but not a web power? i mean come on... its webs, the one thing all spiders have!
A great example of an intro that makes you NOT want to ever watch an episode! It looks sooooo bad! Maybe it's so awful its almost good? Quality music though.

@rehetbutler: You said it, mate. This was not that great, and was even disowned by Stan Lee. But nobody here wants to listen whatsoever, secure in the knowledge that this show should be on DVD-and calling you, me and everybody else who disagrees a ton of names. 'Amazing', eh?
Back in the early 1980s I even went to see the film ;-) not so much special effects. In fact it looked pretty much like the opening theme here does. ;-)
Nicholas Hammond is very much still alive worked with him a few years back. As far as I know he has never done porn. This series was great real stunts and stuntmen no CGI crap like in the film versions. Brilliant actor and very much in demand.
@scidriver: Never-Marvel hates this, as does Stan Lee, who considers this to be the worst adaptation of one of his characters, ever. He has disowned this version, and only cares for the 2002 Spider-Man movie that everybody here on this channel call crap. Therefore, Sony Pictures Television won't be putting it on home video.
@Neville6000 Beg to differ with you, you misinformed turd. Sony Pictures does NOT own this version of Spiderman. Universal Television does. And no! Stan Lee and Marvel did not "disown" this series.
You really do need to get a life, you stupid, angry, piss ant.
@Actionguy1: According to Wikipedia, Sony Pictures TV does own the rights to the show, since Columbia Pictures distributed the first TV movie on the big screen outside North America. Sony also owns the right to the current cartoon show, the 2001-2002 MTV cartoon-in short, they own the whole movie & TV franchise(s). So no, I'm right-you're wrong. And my 'life' is frankly none of your business; I have a right to speak my mind on this subject too. And yes, Stan hates this show.
@Neville6000 "According to Wikipedia..."Shut the fuck up, you misinformed fool. Wikipedia is not always correct. Your'e a an angry idiot who needs to stay in the dark and keep his stupidity to himself.
Go to McDonalds and harrass the employees there, (Oh, wait. You don't have the balls to do that to someone's face, do you?) just quit harrassing people here, you lonely, bitter, misanthrope.
Even back then, 9 years old in 1977, I hated the web shooter (not two!) outside the costume, no super villains, no Uncle Ben dying, and not enough web swinging.
However, it was better than the Electric Company's version, and at least they had a super hero show on tv.
Back in a time when Afros were hip, dico was hot, and Michael Jackson was still black.... we had Nicholas Hammond as Spiderman, and all was right with the world! (calm down MJ fans, it is only a joke)

@NXSeven You're right about Neville6000. He's a retard, so it's like talking to a brick. He never makes a valid point. He has no one else to argue with so he takes his anger out on the internet.
What!? Actual people and stuntmen?!? Climbing actual walls?!? Looking like they are actually there rather than photoshopped?!?! No CGI?!? What were we thinking?
first of all dude if u really post this i did not once say i did not like it,i said he looked lame.before u reply to a comment make sure u look it over first, and realize ppl are going to voice their opinion.and if u dont like that then maybe u should not post anything!!!!!!!!
I used to luv this show! It inspired me into filming! Check out a video I made with afew friends about a prank some kids play on an unsuspecting lady in a park. It's called PRANKSTERS IN THE PARK
If I recall correctly, Jameson wasn't a big dumb foil for Spider-Man like in the comics, cartoons, or movies. (The guy who played Larry Tate on "Bewitched" was Jameson in the pilot.) I thought the webshooters looked lame, too. I liked the show. When WNEP-16 reran them as part of the 4-6 "Dialing For Dollars" movie, the ads featured Spider-Man removing his mask to reveal that he was secretly John Glaugh, the host. Too funny :)
I think the worst part of that costume was his eyes. I like how they kept it red and black like it originally was but the eyes were just oddly shaped.
No, that dumbass "utility" belt and webshooter are the worst. There is no logical reason to have those props outside the costume. They can't really work, so why put them out there. The only reason I can think of is the episode where he breaks his tracking device and the episode, "Night of the Clone" where we find out he doesn't have a spare belt, for no good reason.

@NXSeven You're right about Neville6000. He's a retard, so it's like talking to a brick. He never makes a valid point. He has no one else to argue with so he takes his anger out on the internet.

Was the white woman with the bag Mary Jane?
Lundarigirl 2 years ago
No, Mary Jane wasn't in it i don't think, most were different characters/villains apart from Peter and Jonah

What!? Actual people and stuntmen?!? Climbing actual walls?!? Looking like they are actually there rather than photoshopped?!?! No CGI?!? What were we thinking?

Wow....I remember seeing re-runs show of the Amazing Spider-Man on the Sci-Fi network years ago. Love the intro theme =)

Skullzonian 2 years ago
No, that dumbass "utility" belt and webshooter are the worst. There is no logical reason to have those props outside the costume. They can't really work, so why put them out there. The only reason I can think of is the episode where he breaks his tracking device and the episode, "Night of the Clone" where we find out he doesn't have a spare belt, for no good reason.

I never said i liked the utility belt. He shouldn't have it. I also hate the webshooter.
Skullzonian 2 years ago
I never said you did, just that those things are actually worse then the eyes. Which, you're right, are awful as well.

I remember watchng the re-run's of this as a kid and playing the Sega Megadrive II game of this! :)
