@spenjax1111 in a vTec engine there are 3 rockers for each valve set instead of 2 when you get to a certain RPM a solenoid activates and moves a pin into the 3rd rocker locking them all together and the 3rd rocker is on a higher rise so the valve opens wider the 3rd rocker isnt doing anything until that certain RPM. vTec does not mean it goes from 8 valves to 16 that is retarded.

Exactly why macho muscle car dicks talk about torque rather than power, the power you get out of most muscle cars is embarrassing when you consider their displacement and how much they weigh. V-tec was an ingenius system for its time and popularised variable valve timing, at least in civilised nations, where we have cams, multiple valves per cylinder, fuel injection, ECUs etc. you caveman.
