  • "lowest possible weight"

    hahaha

they say that cause its one heavy bike.

  • I just dont like the headlights. I think they look goofy. other than that, it's so fucking sexy

  • can i has one?

  • Best bike EVER made.

  • omg this is motorbike porn

  • valentino the best

  • offtopic

  • The Duc used to be the shit, but the 09 R1 IS THE SHIT!Can't wait to see the 2010 Version....

  • they bring biks once in three years

  • AMERICAN version R1 is has a BETTER AND MORE color choice!! Why this happens??

  • next it will be a TC and a CARBON FIBRE CHASIS..

  • yeah! rock annd roll!!!

  • yeah! yamaha is the best!!!

  • i dont know why u guys r sayin this bike is ugly. along with everything this bike has

    i think its sexyyyyyyyyyyyy

  • see kevindanh video he got one

  • Ugly, but faster than a brand-new Ducati 1198S. I don't think that R1 is ugly, is ugly for people that didn't understand that this bike is the better liter-class motorcycle of 2009, better than a Honda, Suzuki, Ducati (1198s!!!), or Kawasaki.

Look for the MCN comparison and you'll know that this "civilian" MotoGP is everything more than ugly.

  • COOL

  • This bike is not bad looking, wanna see ugly? Look at the front of the CBR!

  • she is beautiful...

    LOOOVE <333

  • I'm a newbie, but I got an R1 and I'm learning how to figure out when to shift gear. I've been looking for someone to give a good explanation but none so far. If you can give some advice it would be great. Say, when do I change from 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th gear in term of mile per hour.

    Thanks

  • If you want you can run it all the way up to near read line then shift if you are in a hurry. Ride it any way that you want just don't go above red. Isn't an R1 a way bit to much for a beginner? Just be careful, that thing will get away on you faster than you can imagine.

  • must be scary to get that for your first bike. Changing gears: there is a good explanation in your manual. typically when shifting from first gear to second, shift around 20mph to be on the save side and to avoid wheelies. 40mph - 45mph, 2nd through 3rd, etc. up to 6th. You should take a MSF class.

  • engage 1st gear, open throthle, shift only when gets into red line and do that in every gear and do also your testament including me as only beneficiary.

  • Let me ask you in a different way. I know to start off you should be in first gear and you should shift into second gear as soon as possible.

    1. 25mph, what gear?

    2. 35mph, what gear?

    3. 45mph, what gear?

    4. 55mph, what gear?

    5. 65mph, what gear? and so on.

Then what you are break or slowing down, when is the best time to shift down from each gear and if you are moving only about 5mph, should you be in first or second gear?

I know it is a stupid questions, but I have to ask.

    .

  • Dude, you cant drive a bike like a R1 if you have to think about it. Its very dangerous because obviously you dont have the necessary experience. But, in a general way the best thing you can do is to get the " feeeling " about your bike. Your question is not relevant, you can ride in 5 gear and only be doing 40 miles. Get help from some personal friend, i cant teach you by internet. Sorry.

  • No, it just seem odd for me that you only have 6 gears, and at 40mph, you are already at 5th gear.

I've been playing around with the gear and had put about 250miles on my brand new bike already.

I just need someone with experience to tell when is the best time to switch the gear so I have a better idea what I am doing.

I took the MSF course, but they only teach me between 1st and 2nd gear, nothing else.

    thanks for any comments.

  • HAHA...love it!!!

  • Dude my first bike was a 2008 CBR1000rr!!! So all that talk about too much power for a beginner isnt entirely true. I started slow but now im a very good rider. Now people i ride with say it seems as if i was riding for years. You have to get a feel for your bike. EVERY BIKE has a different feel even if its the same make/model/year. If you can drive a stickshift car then it would be easier to make the transition b/c the concept is the same. You can feel when to shift & you can hear it.

  • 1. OK, how long can I stay on first gear when I am taking off?

    2. When you are slowing for a turn, do you shift alway the way to first gear or stay on 2nd gear but pull in the clutch. I'm find with when to change gear on taking off but not too good on slowing down and down shifting.

    PPPPLLLLEEEEAAAAAASSSSSEEEEE HEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLPPPPPPPPPPP.

  • Dude you need to see and talk to a local instructor. Askin these questions on the "YouTube" message boards will not get you what you need.

  • I told you that I took the MSF course, but they don't help you at all. They are focusing on teaching then explaining all this crap to you. They teaches you how to get off neutral and then frist gear and then second gear and then sudden stop by pulling in the clutch, hit both breaks and down shift while you doing so.

  • sign up for track school or something I already did the experienced course for the MSF its just basic riding dos and donts. its helpful for beginners but its almost like reading and instruction manual. go to track school to learn the tricks....

  • whats ur bike newbie? you must NEVER hold the clutch while decelerating or when you are inside a turn

oh and i bet geecheeman is a n00b, although he says he's learned..

  • learn to blip the throtle like the racers

  • You only need to red line your bike when you're trying to race or when you're trying to "feed" your bike, which means if ur just riding and you have a nice stretch of road w/no cars/cops. Duck down a & twist that baby & see what bitch can do!!!! ONLY when YOU are ready though!!! SAFE RIDING BRUH!!

  • Seriously this bike is incredible. Just a bad design. Wish they made the pearl with blue accent and changed the fairing.

  • agusta f4 form.....

  • no wonder the bike has immense power but its looks horrible. new R1 has a fucked up appearance, especially the front lights appear to be awful.

  • kudos to yamaha for taking it a step further with the jap inline 4 sportsbike class. It's still not going to sway me from getting a Gsxr though ;-)

Will the R6 have the same engine technology I wonder?

  • caramba que legal!!! muito bom

  • sound is just fucking astonishing, just like valentinos m1 onboard.... LOVE it

  • If you have any other years' R1...and try this 09...you have a problem. The torque response at low/medium RPM is so much faster....and the engine sound...great bike.

  • ugly though.

  • why u loosers complaining this new r1 is as close to moto gp u can get its a beauty

  • SUZUKI made a horrible bike's :/ bbut only GSXR is nice :D

  • i think the bigbang system is better, then the screamer...and thats why the r1 has a great future in sport

  • This bike is incredible.

  • hey guys this is a brand new motor (so give it a chance) from what i have seen they do suck (sound and torque) but from what PROFESSIONAL racers say it owns, i say give it 3 or 4 years then it should be 1 bad ass mofo and probably the best 1000 cc bike you can get but as of this 09 i dont think so i would either wait or get a gsxr 1000

  • what you say it's crap at the whole line... How can you wait 3-4 year to check the bike? - Its going to be damn old. New editions of sportsbikes come every 8 months (yeah, less than year from one edition to another). And every edition is relatively better than the previous one. You judge the motorbike without riding, thouching, smelling, seating on it? Does the crappy quality UTube vid provides you all these? dran... Its a matter of taste anyways. All 1000cc bikes are comparable. Matter of taste

  • Heh! Wait for it to dominate? It has currently won the last 3 WSBK races in a row.

    Oh...and yes I do love my black '09 ;)

  • Everything is Perfect...

    But.... The exhaust so terrible......

  • No they have not !

  • HAHAHA they've been taking all their notes from suzuki! I'll stay with my k7 1000 Gixxer

  • I driven a few of this already when the company wanted to get expert opinions. They are alright for the price and whatnot. You definitly feel more torque with that uneven firing sequence thats for sure. I might get one if I ever get bored with my 08.

  • GO YAMAha is all that needs to be said 919 Durham nc

  • this and the new gsxr1000 are close

  • this bike can beat hayubasa?

  • most bikes can around a track, its only a straight line that hayubusa goes fast, thats why you never see hayubusa getting raced

  • no joke.. i'm gettin all worked up just watchin this

  • i like it ...

  • yamaha -yonkers-newyork no like this bike ilike more 2008 is the best. the 2009 r1- song 125cc got car.

  • aint bad looking but the colours are soo plain, would be nice to have the yammi blue and yellow combined like the gp race colour's or even the yellow on its own like the little 125.

  • Performance is outstanding but the looks could have been better. But not to worry, there will be new exhaust and other accessories in no time

  • Look ugly to represent potentiality of having,

he majority that will dislike appearance has no IQ.

  • at first i thought... how hideous that new look is.

then i thought. who cares.. i won't see it when i'm ridin it!

then i fell in love. AGAIN

  • U guys are just hating. I think it looks good. It sort of looks like a ducati.

  • looks like something thats ready to break the sound barrier.

  • the performance of this bike is amazing, but i can hardly look at it. looks are obviously all opinion, and mine is that this thing is gross

  • which bike do you thing is the best looking bike for 2009.... i say THE FIREBLADE

  • because the others are more ugly than it.

  • what's the dry weight?

  • the new r1 09 looks ugly... but i havent seen the other vids... but the performance is wicked... two thumbs up for me...

  • what does it costs?

  • the official price is 14895 €

  • :O thats expensive

  • do u know wat bike i should get?

    cant decide

  • pee wee 50 sounds good for you. just remember to leave the throttle limiter screwed in, till you get used to the power

  • awesome bike

  • screww you yamaha is the best you can get for the money

  • you replied on my comment, you have blowed me bitch, yamaha suck's, just like u

  • lol, what do you like then?

  • honda cbr1000rr fireblade

    hayabusa

    kawasaki zx-10r

  • wtfk?

    where is the yamaha sound?

  • Notice how it sounds like a Desmosedici? That's because a crossplane inline 4 is the same as a V4. How creative of you Yamaha. Unfortunately it still has the detriment of being twice as a wide as a V4 so it handles worse. Combustion torque vs inertial torque? That means it feels like a V twin. Good job Yamaha, you successfully reinvented the Ducati wheel. Let me know how next year's GP turns out when everyone is on the same tires...

  • i think there are a few 09 r1 videos you havent left this comment on. better go say the same thing over and over again...bitch

  • jackass, in motogp just there is 3 things, the doctor with the best motogp (YAMAHA M1) AND ducati gp8 cos stoner is just a little clown, and anyway everybody with bridgestone , yamaha keeps on being the best cos honda is shit with any tire brand and suzie and kawa are more shit and yamaha showed to ducati that a race is not just strights , on corners YAMAHA WINS.

  • i liked it but the body is not that much the k7 body is the best r1 body ever ho agree bost these (r1 k7 body)

  • SCCIIIITTT I WANTT 1 !!!

  • hope they changed first gear its a nightmare on the street 155 outa first. GRRR not much fun

  • This is the best bike for 2009 in my mind. What other bike company has done all this research and development

  • I'm waiting to see if this technique actually is as good as they claim it to be... And the rear looks a bit odd with the short exhausts, but otherwise it looks great!

  • i think the sound is styled on the m1 and with a aftermarket pipe will sound sick!

its a diff engine so has diff sound.

i hate the way motogp riders have to say this pr bull though!

go hayden and stoner motogp 09

and haga on ducati sbk awesome

  • Looks odd, but man, that sound...

  • with this 2009 r1, i will want a 2009 cbr1000rr ABS

  • With this '09 R1 it should be hard (even for the 1200cc Ducati) to prevent that R1 from becoming the 2009 WSB winning combination with Haga I guess.

  • Haga is riding ducati next season...

  • Damn ... my favorite rider not on my favorite bike next year (never again I guess). Ok! Now it's Ben Spies' time to get the title for Yamaha. Or Biaggi for Aprilia both bikes are surely better than that damn Ducatis (I hate them since they use 1200ccm).

  • Ben Spies and Tom Sykes are ridn with the yamaha WSB 09 team, Go Spies!!!

  • Yea ... go green is probably faster than ride green ...

  • piece of shit....yamaha should stay on pianos.....GO GREEN GO KAWASAKI NINJA

  • Yeah Yamaha suck, espeically in MotoGP huh

  • arghone what the fuck are you on about you pratt!! Valentino Rossi is the 2008 motoGP world champion & what bike did he win it on?? YAMAHA!! So take yr head out yr arse n get yr facts right!!

  • ha ha, why not get your own head out of yours to get a sense for irony, huh?

  • thanks..... that was probably the most sarcastic thing ive ever written!!

  • my comment was dripping with sarcasam! i have an R1 and wouldnt change it for the world

  • does GREEN matter in moto-gp or in any race-series? plus, kawa has the worst manufacture-quality in bike-production. engines are good,by the way..but thats not all

  • Philster53142 what the Fuck is wrong with u? onli retarded stupid ppl like you fail to appreciate the beauty of super sports bike all u know is just to bring down e reputation of super sports bike GO and fcuk yourself u idot!

  • Give me mine in europe specs Black and Gold please!

  • this new engine 'sounds' like they might have fixed the low end of the R1.

  • that thing is soooo frikking ugly!!

  • It's all about power and speed... That's what really matters !

  • bullshit! I wont buy an ugly bike. what if it was shit brown and literally smelled like a turd? would it still not matter? Well, this thing comes pretty damn close. UGLY!!! I owned the very first R1 in 98 (11 years ago) and that actually looks better STILL. It's not just Yamaha though, all the Japanese bikes are going backwards. Honda CBR1000 = Flat Face, Suzuki GSXR =Cheap looking and Fugly, Kawasaki ZX10 = Cross-eyed, and now Yamaha = Bug eyed, 90's underseat exhaust, and afterthought ram-air.

  • r1 the best bike Yamaha for ever ?????? sakis from kavala Greece

  • how much is the bike?

  • same as usual i think.....19k (aussie).

I dont' think it'll be cheaper than a cbr 1k though..highly doubt it. Can never beat honda's pricing.

  • looks good,lovr it!rossi 4-ever

  • When is this bike being released in Australia?

  • kuddos yamaha.

  • It sounds great will be even better with two akro`s on it. I think that this will take the crown off the fireblade and put the r1 back were it belongs at the top. Just Ashame that nori haga wont be racing it.

  • well done yamaha!

  • This new R1 sounds better then your 1098s and it will go way better too.But aslong as your happy being a show off squid on your pretty boy bike thats all that matters.

  • Damn right. Duc boys in WSB are cheaters and nothing else! The rules were 1000cc and max. 4 cylinders. And because of tradition ... lol ... in MotoGP they are using the V4 and not a V2 with 1790cc ;). Yamaha rocks! Just very sad that Haga has left it ... again! And Aprilia kicks some Ducs' backs ;). Go Biaggi, Nakano, Spies and Sykes!

  • ALL THAT GUYS ARE FROM BOTTOM THE HEART, YAMA GUYS, AND NOW WITH SPIES, WE GO FOR THE ONE TITTLE THAT WE DONT HAVE , ALTHOUGH I WOULD HAVE LIKED TO SEE SPIES AND HAGA LIKE TEAM MATES BUT SORRY cos spies is a S...hit face cos he is a suzie former. and a excellent team on motogp had been NitroNori , Norifumi San and ShinYAMAHA NAKANO (HIS NAME IN JAPAN) A DREAM TEAM ALTHOUGH WE HAVE TO GO TOSELAND (EX CHIKEN WIND) THE TEXAN TORNADO, JORGE LORENSHOW AND THE DOCTOR , ANOTHER DREAM TEAM IN MOTO GP

  • you´re wrong. but i would talk the same way, when i would´ve spend that much money on a bike which doesn´t really work as perfect as japs do..hhahahaaha

  • best bike in world
