Thanks:) That movement makes him HARD to ride, LOL. I'm used to my pokey-Joe Quarter Horse that's as smooth as glass and so whenever I get on Zilly I'm like GADZOOKS, how do people ride Warmbloods and make it look easy:)
Okay. I've been trying and trying to post a comment. Argh. Basically what I was TRYING to say was that I think we're talking about the same CeCe...AND I can't believe the Lorimer's daughter is old enough to train. (I'm OLD!!)
Have you ever been to Sutton Place? Or Stoney Hill Farm? I had a friend that rode for SH and I used to LOVE going out there. Are they still there? Or has civilization pushed them out, too?
I think CeCe Duran was her maiden name and Younger is her married name, but like I said I might be getting mixed up my trainer only knows people by their unmarried names lol. Unfortunately I wasn't riding when Sutton Place closed so I never got to see it, though we have a ton of Linda's old trunks and show racks and stuff with the beautiful green SP on them. I'll ask my trainer about Stoney Hill. LOL Irene actually started training about 30 years ago lol.
Penny moved from Santa Cruz to San Diego (unsure if you know already lol) I'm located east of oakland Pleasanton area. I ride with Irene Lorimer, daughter of Lorraine and Bob Lorimer, sister to Linda Hough and Celia Gamble.
Cece Younger, is that perchance Cece Duran? Maybe I'm getting two people mixed up lol
You know Lorraine passed away like two years ago. Very sad, and Celia Gamble nee Lorimer closed her barn down in Gilroy (Quail Ridge) I was lucky enough to train with her when I was in college at UCSC. Randy Gamble gave me a couple of reining lessons which were fun!
Do you know Elizabeth "Lumpy" Kilham? Her daughter is doing all the big jumper stuff now and she went to my Uni too.
Seriously? You're kidding! That's so sad. She was AMAZING.
And I think I'm confusing my Lorimers. I was thinking your trainer had a daughter who was now training. See, I'm getting old. I couldn't remember the name of Stony Hill for a while, either. (Obviously can't spell tonight, either;)
I still have my trunk from Penny's barn. I use that thing all the time. Isn't it funny how "dressy" the H/J barns get with their trunks and curtains? Not so on the QH circuit, that's for sure!
I know there were 4 Lorimer daughters, Margaret who never trained was the oldest, Linda Hough nee Lorimer was the second oldest, her daughter Lauren Hough went to the olympics at Sydney with Clasiko (I did a clinic with her this year it was awesome!) Linda had Sutton Place (the farm and the horse) and showed him at Madison and such. Irene Randall nee Lorimer is the second youngest and has been training for around 30 years, and the youngest is Celia Gamble nee Lorimer who now lives in OR.
I remember Lauren very well. The friend that rode for Stony Hill used to compete against her in medals all the time. Very sweet and down-to-earth young lady.
I *do* miss the H/J circuit. It used to be my family, but then I got a divorce and I didn't want bump into any of my ex-family on the circuit...long story. I'll tell you about it at State.
Bob and Lorraine had that place in the Oakland Hills out on Skyline Blvd.. may have even been whats now called Skyline Ranch, I don't remember what it was called since all my info is second hand (I'm only 24 lol) but Bob also used to teach at Mills College where Miss Cress was
LOL me too. I was gonna add that the most ridiculous and amazingly beautiful setups I've ever seen were this year at Saratoga Racetrack, I was there for the Travers and my friend has a tack license, some of those BNTs like Nick Zeto and such are like overthetop in comparision to H/Jers lol.
Speaking of setups, ugh I'm washing my tank trunk cover as I type lol
Ooi! Yeah, I need to pull my trunk out and wash it off. It's been sitting in my tackroom for a few months.
I'm getting A LOT of calls on Zilly. (Did I tell you I put him on Bay Area Equestrienne Network?). I'm hoping to find him a good home rather than ride him myself--but if the right offer doesn't come along, I might just be giving your trainer a call, LOL; I'll be showing him myself next year!
Well if you want my trainer's number just ask lol, if you send him to my barn that means I'd get to ride him lol. (I ride a lot of sale horses/ponies as well as my own) Best of luck selling him! And if you don't sell him, you really should show him!
Thanks, hon. I actually think it'd be nice to hire her for State (if she's open to that). I'd be nice to have someone on the ground to help me school. It'd just be for over fences, however, since I've shown under this judge before on the flat and he like the QH style HUS horse--which we have dialed:) It's the over fence stuff where we suck. Try not to laugh too hard!!! No. I mean that. Don't laugh at us when you watch us jump:) (There's a reason why they call my age division RUSTY;)
I have NO idea how much to ask. I was pricing out his half-brothers and sisters and they're selling for 20,000+. But with this market.... I honestly don't know. I *do* believe, however, always HAVE believed, that his horse could easily do the juniors or A/O or medal classes. My only concern is how he'll be at shows. We took him once --just to trot him around--and as I recall he was pretty good. A little lookey, but okay, so I think he could do it. Just needs miles!!
I'd love to try him, but I think you live too far away for me to drive lol (live in the bay area). But I'll put the word out and forward the video to my trainer, she can forward it to people she knows too.
I was actually thinking of calling Penny Wahler. Or maybe CeCe Younger. I know they'll sometimes take horses on consignement. I was kind of thinking that might work 'cause then he could get legged up without much effort on my part. Honestly, I don't know what to do with this horse. It's just time to do SOMETHING.
BTW, I'll be in the Bay Area (Gilroy) this weekend. Where do you ride?
very nice mover!

I used to ride quarter horses, then started riding thoroughbreds and warmbloods. Honestly I found the warmbloods so much better for me to ride haha.

I think I have issues because I have such short legs. I hate my legs:( It's hard for me to wrap around a horse's barrel. Oh well. :)

Irene said Stony Hill should still be there since Megan Bechtel still rides and I think she technically still owns it lol.
Irene and I will be at state for sure ;D it will be fun hearing you guys talk about old H/J stuff. I love stories!

I know! He just meanders over it like it's no big deal. I just love watching him jump. He enjoys it so much.

I love how he trotted up to the jump one lap and just lifted himself over it!
