TASCAM’s best-selling line of single-rackspace CD players has been updated with the CD-500B. The CD-500B is a slot-loading CD player with a new transport, featuring brushless motors and an edge-grabbing mechanism to prevent disc damage. A front-panel 10-key pad is available for instant access to CD tracks, and flash start is available ...

How do you update the firmware on these things? I have the MP-GT1 and the new firmware file but NO instructions on how to do it. Nothing in the menus either.
Also if you like playing with your tuning dropped a 1/2 step, or more, you could drop the tunes tuning to match your tuning. It wouldn't work for open tuniing or dropped D tunimng though, since it drops/raises the tuning across the board.
I emailed Tascam and they replied in an impersonal email that i have to pay a 40$ to get an estimate...then if i agree on the repairs i get the money for the estimate back. It's BS.
I would be better off buying a new one - but I'm broke.
I had the one that came out right before this. I used it for about 3 years and it just quit working last night. If i put a cd in it won't spin and it reads "no cd". It's frustrating because i used it every time i played my guitar - i can't imagine practicing without it.
I'm glad you like your guitar trainer jkdsdmf. I've got an even older model than yours and it works perfectly. Yours has features I wish mine had, but oh well.
The 'Key Change' function is so you don't have to re-tune your guitar if you're figuring out a song where the guitarist is using non-standard tuning (example: a lot of blues players use drop-D tuning). You can just make his pitch match yours.
Also, the newest TASCAM guitar trainer is for MP3 only (no CD's). I wish they would make one where you can use both CD's & MP3 files. My guess is that TASCAM is through making the
CD-guitar trainer since the newer MP3 player is less than half the size of the CD player and is easier/cheaper to manufacture (no moving parts/less material).
you are talking about the model with the spot for the cd on the left side, the mark I if im not mistaken, now that i know that about the key change i will probably use it more. thank you
