I bought 2 bright red male cichlids from a pet store. After a few days they slowly started to lose their color until they became a yellow-tanish color. I thought it was because the gravel is that color and they adapted to it, but many other people have lightly color gravel and their cichlids seem unaffected.

the light makes the fishes more red... as you can tell by the dry wood is also a little pink......the  fishes might be red but can't be that red, can tell by different view.

Do you think a jewel cichlid or two would get along with 2 senegal bichirs? Ive learned the hard way that bichirs are pretty damn vicious, theyve killed and eaten 2 butterfly fish and a clawed frog already but for some reason leave my leopard bushfish alone

I bought 3 red jewel from fish store few days ago. When I brought them home and they changed their color from bright red to gray and just don't change to red color anymore. Can someone tells me why? Cause it really bothers me. When I saw them at fish store they were so bright red though.
