2 things i've never been able to do in multiple mass effect 1 playthroughs.....#1. Kill Wrex. (the guy is just too damn cool, too damn funny, and too damn tough to let die for any reason)  #2. Let kaiden live over Ashley. (Kaiden is just too damn boring, too damn reserved, and doesn't care about anything...even whats wrong with him and his implants he just shrugs off.) No reason to keep him around.

If you're close to maxing your charm or intimidate, you can replay Virmire, only make sure you kill all those colossi on foot rather than in the mako; they give you a TON of XP, and hopefully enough to get a couple of levels to max your persuasion skill.

OMG I played this mission all the way through to the end but wrex died. I was pissed b/c he was a pretty cool guy. After all is done I found out that there is a way to save him and I went back and played all over again from the time of landing of the planet. You HAVE to have MAX charm or MAX intimidate. Then during the conversation with wrex you get a red or blue option depending on charm or intimidate and you have to pick that.

You also get an achievement "Charismatic -

Resolved impossible situation with Charm or Intimidate" if you do the above method and save him. By the end of the mission your gonna be short of 1 squad member anywayz. Unless you do the above your gonna end up short of two.

Oh and you might want to keep that save since all characters from the first ME come back in ME2 (not sure what involvement they'll have though, minor or major). All except those who died in your ME playthrough. So if you manage to convince Wrex, he comes back. :)

This is according to the Mass Effect 2 Wiki, they have a full list of what transfers into ME2.

I feel sorry for Wrex but I agree with the Alliance, Saren is basically using the cure as a tool to breed the Krogan. In some ways he is even using it as bribery, I think if Wrex killed Shepard, Kaiden and Ashley he might have joined Saren... that would make a cool spin-off/novel!

As Kirahe said. If the cure left the planet then the Krogan would just multiply themselves into another Krogan war. Plus it is suspected that the cure to the Genophage also had an Indoctrination side effect. Shepard did not want to start a completely new war that would prevent him/her from killing Saren and didn't want the enter Krogan race at Saren's mercy

Yeah, that's what I wanted to do too, but the game just doesn't let you. Shame actually. Releasing the rachni queen on Noveria was a similar choice that could prove fatal for the galaxy, but there they let you take the risk (and maybe suffer the consequences in ME2? I think so!). I couldn't understand why they didn't leave this way open too. It would have been "the right thing to do" in this situation anyway. Even though its still kind of "Renegade" and reckless.

Yeah you've either got to have a high paragon or regenegade and you've got to persuade him. I think you can also persuade him to put his weapon down easier if you do his Family Battle Armor side quest.

yes there is! You have to have a lot of charm though before you attempt to persuade him that Saren is not the answer to the genophage. Try to choose all of the responses on the upper right hand side of the wheel unill a charm option is offered.

It's not a fair comparison - though I never played Jade Empire. Mass Effect is a FPS/RPG hybrid. KOTOR and Baldur's Gate were more "pure" RPGs... I think it's BioWare's attempts to make their games more appealing to people who usually don't play RPGs. So it depends on the genre you're looking for. It's not fair to compare Mass Effect to pure RPGs... You might as well compare Baldur's Gate to Halo...
